The boyfriend may have a borderline personality disorder(person with this kind of disorder has a huge fear of abandonment). He should seek help(meditation). If he's borderline i doesn't mean that he can't be a carrying, altruistic person...but he needs professional help with his disorder.

Borderline personality (as opposed to bipolar) is a personality disorder, similar to narcissism. Lots of therapy is required and usually not the only diagnosis on board. She’s completely codependent and this relationship sounds like a disaster.

Coining somebody a work spouse while married / in a committed relationship is very disrespectful to the relationship. “Oh just prepping my work wife a coffee” HUH.. At the end of the day, everybody knows office romances flourish at a high rate because you are spending so much time at work and bond with coworkers. Crossing the line by then calling them your work spouse can blur boundaries.. and can always lead to more. No, no thank you…

To the caller with the BF with borderline personality disorder. As someone who was diagnosed with this (it was a misdiagnosis I actually have C-PTSD). I can tell you therapy is NOT optional. It's literally how BPD is treated. Yes, sometimes an antidepressant, mood stabilizer, etc can be added, if there's underlining depression or anxiety issues. However, it's therapy. DBT AND CBT are absolutely necessary, as they literally teach you how to think, and process thoughts. I've done extensive research, and BPD is all thinking patterns. They tend to think in black and white, and go from emotion to speak with no thought. This is treatable, and maintainable, but not without a hell of a lot of work.

Why don’t we just go to work and drop the work wife, work husband , work mom, work dad ,work daughter , work son , wow 😂 kinda sounds ridiculous. They are your colleagues , coworkers the persons which you work with. At my workplace, bank at the time, we used to say ‘that ‘we feel like family’ because we see each other every day and that’s as far as it would go. But we didn’t come home and tell our spouses, ‘Oh I just had a good day with my work family ‘ 😂 . oh my goodness. You actually found the word ‘work wife’in a dictionary?? It can’t be Websters.

The conversation about work wives and work husbands was so triggering for me that I had to pause the episode. I don’t understand how anyone thinks it’s okay for someone in a committed monogamous relationship to have a “work spouse.” If your partner has a work husband or work wife then they are having an emotional affair or worse.

I am single and have had way too many men coworkers test the waters and they are all in relationships, some married. I shut that shit down quickkkk because I want no part in things like that. However, it has greatly lessened my trust in men because a few of them I thought wouldn’t even test the waters. I have had a work husband and it did turn into more too (we were both single at the time) .. and no one knew but us - however yes unless it’s a really unusual situation making romantic vibes hella unlikely - I’d say it should be looked into/ is red flag for anyone dealing with this BS.

But not gonna lie, I do have a work mom haha and my actual mom and my work mom have met and love each other haha My work mom was someone who helped me through a lot of personal life stuff that I wouldn’t normally talk to any other colleagues about. Dear last caller- BPD is often treated with ANTIPSYCHOTICS. He needs to see a doctor and ASAP.

You are wrong about that. The main treatment for BPD is dialectical behavior therapy which is a special kind of group therapy. There is no specific medication for BPD and you can be completely cured through dialectical behavior therapy.

@kybo_1 I literally was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and fully recovered. The first line of treatment is dialectical behavior therapy. There is no specific medication for borderline. Some people with borderline have comorbidities that may be treated with antipsychotics. You are not a medical professional and you do not have a history of borderline personality disorder. It does not typically involve psychosis Edit: alright I just looked it up and I guess sometimes antipsychotics are prescribed for certain symptoms, so I was wrong, but that is NOT the first line of treatment for BPD. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is the most successful treatment and antipsychotics are not always appropriate. I took issue with your comment because it could mislead people about the condition

Oouff. The point that Nick drove home with that last caller where he said-the thing she wants most in the world, which is to travel, is extremely triggering to her boyfriend. Omg the work wife/husband rant- basically you missed out Nick! My “work husband” from over 10 years ago is still one of my closest friends- we were government consultants on an insanely stressful and intense project for over 5 years and having someone who backs you up both in and outside the office is irreplaceable. We were both in relationships and it was always strictly platonic- basically you got wayyyy too stuck on the label 😂

Am I the only one who thinks the work wife/work husband is just not a big deal? It is meant to be a joke. Think about “the office” Pam is Michael’s work wife, Stanley/phyllis. Parks and rec: Leslie/ron, Tom/donna Greys anatomy: karev/meredith, Weber/bailey People do have platonic friendships with the opposite sex and that should be okay. Work spouses do NOT! Extend outside of the workplace. Outside of the usual social media interactions, if that. I’ve always been the single woman with married men at work dubbing me their work wife. It was always very innocent and platonic on my end, but I would totally understand a spouse not appreciating that relationship dynamic. 🤷🏾‍♀️
