Imo, there is v little risk in doing lgbt content. TSL's main audience are the millenials and young adults in Singapore, which are generally more liberal and supportive of the community.

i'm very blessed that my mum raised me teaching me that being gay is normal and that when i told her i liked girls she was just like "oh yeah so what you're still my daughter" and that makes me wonder why other people can't accept it since my mum was raised similarly to all the homophobic people out there.

My mum was against me going to a gendered secondary school just because she thinks "I'll get hit on by butches"... ;( (That was the only reason, the school is really good in terms of academic results. I ended up still getting in lol)

This is to Jes, I know how you feel. I was called out in a train coz my girlfriend was hugging me coz she was cold.. This Auntie stood up and screamed at me saying I was a disgrace and that this was wrong. I even got kicked out of my church because I love girls too and that I wasnt allowed to be Gods child. I left all that behind. Stopped taking public transport , stop going to church. Its really still quite hard in Singapore..

Is there any religion that doesn’t promote love and acceptance? Specifically to Islam and Christianity? If religions preach love and acceptance, where are all these “conservatives” coming from? To put it out there, these people are just practicing discrimination, not religion.
@awkwardsmile
@awkwardsmile 4 года назад
@@Wynn15 Religion doesn't teach us to discriminate but to embrace everyone regardless of their faults and differences. However, the faith teaches us that God created us for specific purposes and it's to do His Will. In this case, many Christians do not approve of same-sex marriage/sex because it goes against the faith's teaching that sex was made for - procreation - which is between a man and a woman. What blurred this was when humans start having sex for pleasure and prioritise pleasure over procreation. So the reason why most Christians do not support same-sex marriage/sex is not born out of hate so please do not misunderstand Christians. We can accept the person for who he or she is but please don't force us to accept your beliefs.

Whether a relationship lasts or not, it depends on the two parties involved. It doesn't matter whether it's straight or LGBTQ. Many people think LGBTQ relationships are short-term, but look at your straight friends and acquaintances, I believe many of them also have short-term relationships. On a separate note, there is generally a lack of understanding about LGBTQ in Singapore society, even among the non-homophobic ones. When I came out to my friends, they asked me a lot of questions that made me laugh. They didn't mean anything bad, but it was their lack of familiarity to LGBTQ. Lastly, being LGBTQ in Singapore is like playing a game in the hardest mode. Family and social acceptance aside, there are also issues with housing, hospital, as well as aging.

It is honestly hard for parents to accept their child's sexuality when it doesn't seem to be the "norm". I would like to share a tweet I saw the other day that says something like "do not give birth if you can't give total acceptance to your child's sexual orientation".

Omg, i really feel hurts and sad at the same times when huy said "yeah people tend us to change to normal, but we can't, it hurts us" I feel that's too. It's remind me, one of my friend that's really into her religion (call her AB), and i happened to came out and when that's time happen she's there lah and just told me something like this "if i were you, i would change it no matters how it's hards, cuz it's not right" she always likes put herself as me. And that sentence really make me thinks hard and make me stressed, i feels like yeah it's true, how can i change it, i need to change this, and it's really make me fighting with my own mind and soul. But luckily i have one friend that's really supportive to me she always accept me as a person no matter what my sex-orient (call her SA). I told SA about what AB told to me, in here i really desperate and really stressed. And SA told me "if you feel wrongs you can change it, but if don't feel it wrongs just follow your heart, and accept yourself don't deny yourself" in here i feels like more relieved i feel not being judged not being a wrong person. I just feels, yeah it's me, i just happened to likes my friend and it's just happened that person was a guy. And yeah that's it. And SA really make me realize i just need to accept myself. By the way i prefer myself as pansaxual, but i think i more interested to a guy. and I'm from Indo.

Of course there are successful gay relationships. I know men have a very strong sexual drive which make monogamy a bit more difficult but if it's more important to you not to hurt the one you love than to satisfy a fleeting desire then you can remain monogamous. I have been in a monogamous relationship with my partner for almost 28 years. Both of my parents and my 5 siblings accepted him as a member of the family. In fact we have plans today to have lunch with one of my sisters who lives closest to us.

I honestly don’t know what I am I know I have an attraction to girls so I can’t really put a label to myself I don’t think I will and I don’t think I’ll ever tell anyone honestly. I’m kind of the person that never is willing to tell people about my troubles. Haven’t even told my parents that I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety in sec 1 and I’m already in poly year 1. And I mean it’s hard to not say but it’s easier for me ? Maybe not easy per say but I don’t like having to face something that can be avoided. I don’t think I’ll ever date a girl but I have had about 2 crushes and they’ve both been girls. Maybe it’s cause I’ve been in a girls school for 10 years. Maybe it really is a phase I have no idea. My parents aren’t the homophobic kind either and my friends are open to all kind of sexualities because our school had quite a handful of lesbians and girls who had different sexualities. I wish one day I myself can say something but I really honestly think I won’t ever. But kudos to everyone who had enough guts to come out and speak up about matters like this. I’m kind of sorry I never will be able to.
