You are an amazing artist!!! The amount of wisdom you have about creating realistic teeth is far better than most. I have my temporaries in right now and I like them. They are a natural shade. I wish I could have you make my permanent ones. People who get your teeth are blessed. ❤

Beautiful work! But I so wanted to see the veneers on the patient want to see a final smile makeover, once everything is done; actually cemented in and on her. Hope you can do that and follow up with her somehow.?

I think color/shade matching has to be taken on a case by case basis for customers. I do understand that for the average person, it makes sense to match up with lower teeth and not go to white. But a lot of people have it in their mind that they really want whiter by far teeth. When I was younger, I always had a natural very light tooth color. As I’ve aged, most of the enamel has worn off my own teeth, and they are not at all the shade that I want now. I am putting a lot of money into my smile, and I know what I want. after a horrendous experience with my dentist in the last few months, and having to have the whole process redone, I feel it’s really important to get it right. I’ve put thousands of dollars into my smile, and came out with exactly what I was afraid of… new teeth that looked gray and did not do what my original goal was at all*. My original goal was to have a. “Wow!” Smile. 😃. I ended up with a very natural, looking smile that had a dull, dingy appearance. I guess the dentist was thinking she’d match my age, 63. But I told her over and over again that that was not what I wanted. I drew her tons of diagrams. (I’m an artist) , and gave her many reference photos, and she tried to talk me out of what I wanted every step of the way. Then she reassured me that she had heard me and she would do just what I wanted, but she went ahead and did just what she wanted. She basically gave me a 63 year old person’s smile. lol. I had that naturally already! I did not intend to pay thousands of dollars to have a new one reconstructed that did absolutely nothing for my mood or appearance. I live in chronic pain and I’ve been very ill for 22 years. I am endeavoring a new business which will require me to be online and Videotaping and photographing myself quite a bit. I am very realistic about my age, but, I still find that when my teeth are whiter (I’ve bleached them before/ part of the reason why I’ve lost enamel) I look and perform better. I photographed better. So, my case is different than someone who might be very concerned with looking their age, and having their teeth match their age. She even said herself, now that we have the new crowns and veneers tried on… She told me that I just came to life, looking at myself in the mirror and that she felt like she was talking to a person she hadn’t met before! She has known me 14 years! She actually agreed with me, but at much expense to her and me. She ended up eating the cost for the first set of crowns. If she had just listened to me in the first place, I wouldn’t be having to spend many more hours in the dental chair, and believe me with my chronic pain this is a very very difficult thing for me to do… And she wouldn’t have had to do the second set for free. so I think it is very important for the customer to really think about what they want and know the general shade they’re going for… And for the dentist or technician to keep their own desires out of the picture, listen, listen and listen to your customer! And work together and go from there. for the average person it wouldn’t be a huge deal, but for me with my pain levels it’s been a huge deal!!! I knew exactly what I wanted, and she reassured me that I would get that, but she allowed her dental training as far as matching the bottom teeth, etc., and her personal opinions about me being older and not needing white teeth… Lol… She let her own head talk to her instead of really listening to me And we ended up with the first set of crowns being completely wrong for me. Everyone agrees. The first thing my husband said when I came home with the first set, was “did she do them yet… I thought you wanted to go really light 💡 this time??” Lol. My son said my first set. Looks like I drink grape juice or red wine. The exact opposite effect that I was going for. I hated having to bring it up to my dentist. It was embarrassing and I had to really stand my ground, and it was awful. Thank God, she thought about it and listened to me and Agreed to do another set cost free. The way I presented it to her, she could not disagree with me that she hadn’t listened to me. But it’s been a bad experience so everyone in this field: please please listen to your customer! They* are the ones that have to live with the color/teeth!! And to the customers: be sure before you get into the dental share of what you want. I put a ton of time into researching and looking at photos of veneers, reading some Reddit and Google threads, and just really sure about how light I wanted to go. By the way on my dentists chart, I went with OM2. I know it’s very light, but I have super fair skin and blue eyes and blonde hair and it’s very close to what my teeth were like when I was younger. I don’t care to have my teeth look like they are 63, thank you. Especially not when I’m spending thousands and thousands of dollars to make look 👀 whiter. LISTEN* and let your customers tell YOU what their goal is. It’s not a cookie cutter thing where you just match other teeth like the bottoms, unless, unless… The customer goes to you and says, please use your judgment and just match them to my bottoms. For me personally, my bottom teeth, do not show when I smile or talk. Rarely. And I’ve looked in the mirror, and it’s not terribly noticeable at all… The way my teeth overlap, the bottoms are usually in shadow. If it bugs me in the future, I will get six veneers on the bottom for now, I’m concentrating on the top, and that’s my choice*. I was so crestfallen, heartbroken, and pissed off when my dentist ignored my wishes and ended up giving me these gray dinosaur choppers.!!! lol 😝 🦖. Thank you for letting me vent! By the way, you do an amazing job with the teeth you create.!!! ❤❤❤

I see no point getting a perfect smile if you gunna keep a dingy off white caramel colour. And to the person who commented natural color is beautiful., well some people have black teeth, yellow, grey..??? so 🤷‍♀️ just sayin..

@shadybabe0711 I think the point was that BL2 is not a dingy off white caramel color.

After 27 years of practice I came to the conclusion that shade color matching can be done accurately with Vita easy shade and your eye . With the traditional ways there is a lot of variables for mismatching. Another thing I would stop giving in to customer's wishes in regards to color as it has a lot of repercussions down the road . Nothing is more beautiful than a natural color.
