Erick Pacheco yea I personally prefer aesthetic mods for my FRS most I’m gonna do is probably coils and exhaust performance wise, I’d rather spend money on a a faster car then 6k on a supercharger and make it unreliable
The stock wheels on the base models are absolutely garbage. I can’t argue with him for getting headers and an exhaust first tho 🤷🏼♀️ But I’m pretty sure a wise man once said that the first modifications you do should be “Wheels, tires, suspension” which I did on my BRZ, *cough cough* but who listens to Alex anyways?
The whole "86" legend began with a 115-130 hp rear drive hatch back and coupe..yet it became one of the most well balanced and legendary sports cars of all time. You don't need a lot of power to make a great sports car. All these it's too slow mind sets are funny because we have a perfect platform and world of tuning options to play with and most of them started with 120 hp civics trying to race camaro ss's and mustang GTs. Nothing is useful without balance. Why do think Keichii Tsuchiya s favorite car is his 86, and his is still well under 300hp.
@@johngorgis blame safety regulations for bulking and fattening up cars. If you strip the chassis down to the bone it's pretty light for its size. The only reason why it wouldn't be as light as the original 86 is because the chassis itself has a lot more reinforcement in its structure
Yea sure on the track but when you're trying to show off how fast you are on the street ,which is more realistic for daily , you will be quickly embarrassed.
I've got an 86, a modified 86. I love it. The mods are.. more powerful front speakers and some sound proofing. So I can listen to the radio when I'm driving :D
Honestly the whole “aftermarket” world for the frs is absolutely insane. There isnt a whole lot thats “ricy” about the car excpt for that wing. Probably because that car wasnt around during the fast and furious movement where if your car didnt have the biggest wing and the most neon flames down the side it was lame. Of course in 10 years were all going to be like “rocket bunny frs? You mean bucket of rice on wheels?” Its kinda interesting to see what people do with this platform because you can do litterally anything with them. If you wanna track it, track it. If you wanna slam it, slam it. Like ive even seen gingium style off road frs/brz’s and theyre sick
You know, the wild looking graphics on the side were put on purpose to make them stand out from all the other cars from the movie... Look at all the other extra cars from the first movie, and you'll see how clean and simple they were!
As a ‘18 Civic Si Coupe owner, I feel as if it is a fast car as well, because I have never owned a “fast car.” My other car/ First car is a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE, so upgrading from that 128 HP car to my now 205 HP car feels like a big upgrade. Point is, I love my car so, no worries! 🤙
i agree with his whole aftermarket scene. one of the main reason i bought an frs instead of a gen or a 370z is because of how great the aftermarket scene is and how much love the car gets from manufacturers. you could honestly rice the car out with ebay parts but, i feel like most people who own an frs mod the car with style :) plus it gets good gas mileage for a sports car ill take it haha
Matthew Campbell my town is overpopulated with 350s g35,37 v6 camaros, challengers, and mustangs. What’s rare are genys, 86s, and rarely do you see wrxs
I have a Celica and it’s the best nimble FWD I’ve ever driven. I’ve driven a Civic before but I prefer the 2ZZ because of the sound when the cams profile changes and it has potential that just got recently discovered
Agreed 100% I hate the bagged out slammed thing. Yes I understand the lower ground clearance is good for track handling but when these guys slam them and daily D them around town it kills me to hear them crunching and shooting sparks out of the back.
My FRS almost killed me with this issue , Toyota really needs to issue a recall due to this problem. The clutch fork and throw out bearing are incredibly weak and not properly lubricated from the factory. I have a video on my channel explaining this more.
Biggest reason why I am buying one is because I fell in love with the body style the lines are amazing clean not too flashy and trying to be futuristic classy yet sporty....I am getting a Toyota GT86 and putting a small upgraded L33 v8 swap into it but not turboing it or making it crazy. Just a nice sound with enough power to kick it sideways without any struggle.
If you watch tutorials on RU-vid, it's fairly difficult to mess it up and if you don't like the results, it's fairly simple to remove the plasti dip too
From my understanding, you can clean it off with plasti-dip removal liquid and a high-pressure hose and that'll leave no traces of the plasti-dip. Have a hunt around online and you'll know what I'm talking about.
I'm trying to get my first car and idk if I should get a FRS or something more fun more faster ....I'm obviously not gonna be going around racing everyone insight but everyone in my area is a car guy you look to the left you see a 350z and 370z parked in the same block and on my block a supra , WRX hatchback , Mazda Hatchback don't know exactly what model it is, a modded Acura, a modded G35 , and modded bmw, my area is a hotspot for car meets due to the fact the cops aren't so hot, there's a lil pressure for me And I want a car worth bragging Abt and if ever I can prove myself Or at least not lose soooo bad yk? What do you think I should do
Well I must say ... not bad for your 1st non Alex(no1) interview guys. Great job Steve for how you introduced the questions and Alex (no2) the fact that you were very "calm and collected" made the whole interview watchable. So keep them interviews coming ! Oh BTW mix the interviews with girls too ... There are a lot of them in the car community. My suggestion was NOT "weirdo style" oriented. Peace ✌️ (i'm laughing writing the peace sign i never do that)
Im about to buy an frs after owning an 03 silverado for the past 4 years so I feel him on the whole not knowing what hes missing as far as "fast" cars. Or a vehicle that doesnt handle like a school bus for me, personally.
This is an old video but I’ve had my FR-S for almost 10 years since I bought it new and I still enjoy it every single time I drive. I have just a few mild mods with the important ones being lowered a little on springs, rear LCA for camber adjustment, wider but lighter wheels, and wider stickier tires. Oh and the MT centering springs are key! Those who think it’s slow are trying to use a cornering tool for drag racing. Seriously, go around a corner at twice normal speed without braking and see what you think.
Used engine restorer 4 cylinders on my 2015 Scion FRS and I now have around 6 check engine codes. Cars at 82,200 miles and it says on the can use on any car over 50k...also put in a bottle of STP gas after a trip the gas station. Codes with the same oil I used the restorer on: P0420, P0014, P0014, P000B, P000D, P00014 Codes AFTER I changed the oil(because I changed the oil around 15 miles after): P0420, P0014, P000B, P000B, P000D, P0014, P000B. A month or 2 ago the car was at stage 1 with the OPENFLASHTABLET then stage 3+ with flex fuel(without flex fuel kit). Flashed it back to original ECU/file and sold the OpenFlashTablet. Some miles later it gave a transmission code cel problem then it fixed itself....then a catalytic converter o2 problem...let the car idle for 30 minutes rev'd it a bit then fixed itself......now this..help pls ty(also i ran the flex fuel with a K&N cold air intake that is still installed so the tune was wrong and the air/fuel mixture was bad)
I have 162k miles on my 2013 six speed manual. I drive from south central KY to Louisville to work every day. Over half of it is on well maintained twisties. There are really no cops out here but you have to watch out for deer. The result is that I did my first brake job at 142k miles and there was still pad left. And I've been through 8 sets of tires. It's like racing to work every day. With the factory tires I did a lot of drifting, but most of my tires were Michelin PSS's so it was pretty much on rails. The G forces actually make me nauseous sometimes. It is the best bang for the buck sports car on the market, IMO. Other than tires, I keep the car completely stock.
What are you saying. All wrx’s are known for fitting tall people. My dad’s 6’9 and fits in the new ones. And I’m 6’5 and have a bugeye, which my dad also fits in.
Being in Iowa, same as these guys, 1st thing i did was get a 2nd set of wheels one set for winter and 1 for the rest of the year. I have a 2018 Gt black in Thunder color, Black TS10s on it look great.
My thing about the FRS community is that there are so many freaking widebodied ones now. I feel like every show I go to, there are about 20 FRS's there with a widebody kit. However, they look so good with the widebody kit that when I get mine, I will probably end up doing a widebody kit too lol.
I have a varis widebody kit I'm waiting to put on my FRS when I get my suspension set up calibrated, and the rest of my parts come in. I love a widebody with the exception of the rocket bunny. (just tired of seeing it everywhere no offense to any owners.)
I know it's a pretty old video, but, 8. Camber, especially rear camber. It does nothing besides wear out your tires unevenly. Do it if you don't drive it though, go nuts if you make it a show car. Also another one is static suspension while driving super low to the ground. And same thing to the above applies if it's a show car and you trailer it everywhere.
I hate those slanted wheels, it makes cars look bucktoothed and wear tires faster. Plus I've never understood the whole "let's make a car more uncomfortable and inconvenient to drive because I can fit a finger between the tire and wheel flair.
Things that should go with the 86/brz/frs community (86 owner and 86/brz crew founder)... PLEASE take out the need for scissor doors!!!! If lambo finds it lame and stopped it, we don't need to continue it!!
"Alot of them are pretty big dudes" Ironically enough I'm 6'0 and I fit in this just fine. And thus car surprises me driving up tight mountain roads, handles great
I was looking at a frs before I bought my Civic. The Civic had more options for a better price. Navi, leather, sunroof, fog lights, Bluetooth...frs looks cooler though
Awesome! Im interested in seeing more vids on this ride...lets us see the progress...what would your top bolt ons be? Would you recommend internals or would you leave it as is and run low boost? Turbo or supercharger?
the only things I hate in the 86 community are big wings, crazy liveries and flashy multicolored 3 piece wheels. I like clean grey scale pallet with stretched wheels and low
Since I just hit owning mines for a year I’ll answer. Why not. 1. Nope. Never cared for vaping 2. Customization and fun to drive 3. Nothing yet cuz I’m a broke young boy lol 4. I fit but I’m short lol I’m only 5’6” 5. Like 5 snap backs. 6. I don’t care. My buddy runs a civic si 👍 7. I’m not sure. I don’t want to lower the car really since I want to daily it for the foreseeable future 8. I don’t care what trends are popular. I find the uniqueness of ppls cars the most interesting thing about the car community. Regardless of how “ricey” it is. 9. It’s my second choice on my dream car list. Only losing to a mark IV Supra. FR-S are way more available lol and modern 10. Kinda spoiled it in my 9th question answer but the Mark IV Toyota Supra with the 2JZ of course
Would you care to discuss the car a bit? Looking into buying it but im also a broke young boi so it's a huge purchase and I would love to speak to someone who owns one
Here’s a question..do you fit in the back seat? Which’s better, sti rear seat or frs? IMO rear seats in a FRS/BRZ is useless.. these cars should come as a 2 seaters like the vette. I rather sacrifice the rear seats 💺 for more cargo space to hook up a bad ass JL sound system.
Yea Im 6 feet tall and I had trouble looking over my steering wheel before I set the whole seat and wheel up lol. It really is odd how they make these peoples fit.
I liked the style of them but after driving one not so much wound up getting a accord sport 2.0t which is faster than i thought it would be But if they do a different engine in the 86 id be more open to trying it again
A lot of people's dream car is like a lambo or ferrari or mazarati or a nissan gtr or something. Mine is a toyota supra. I really want a supra so bad..
