Here's the other side that people should also know about: I did go to college and I now run a successful business. I absolutely didn't need a college degree to do what I'm doing today. As everything I do in my business, I learned on my own. BUT, I don't feel my work is intellectually challenging and I crave to work on hard intractable problems. That's why after 4 years out of college, I'm going back to get a PhD in computational neuroscience. You absolutely do not need college to be successful. But there are still a handful of things for which college is the only place to go, like high-level scientific research, medicine, law, engineering etc. For everything else, there's the internet. Edit: I have started my PhD and am enjoying it very much. But I could only do it because I have a business running in parallel. Otherwise doing a PhD would be financially irresponsible on my part, as I love the financial independence that my business provides. I still don't think I needed any degree to have a successful business, and my PhD is more like a very engaging hobby.

I have similar feelings. I dropped out and became a freelancer. I had some successes and could've made much money but I wasn't that happy with the work overtime. I did great stuff but I wasn't fulfilled or challenged enough. Now, I'm doing work that I really care about and working to grow this business. Sometimes money isn't enough. Sometimes you have this deep need to solve complex problems, help other people, and make some type of difference.

I'm studying and learning how to manage a business while working inside the organisation. He never ever gave a leverage just BCS I'm his son and in fact I'm building my way up as he taught me that best way to learn how things work is to observe as the worker and evolve and finally give value to the world or a community with wtvr business I have in mind. He has a cycle he has drawn and he shows this to any student who enters his office , it goes like you-school-job-money, like that . That is the system society has created ,whereas you can actually skip school and just make money by identifying a problem and trying ing to solve it ,that is when an education is needed . We had a very long conversation. In the end he advised me to look for money and use it to do what I've been taught in school to do . Can anyone share their opinions on the advise he gave me ?

You can do whatever you want but don't throw away from the window formal education just because a 1 in million made millions without it. Consider all options and do what you feel is the best for your life circumstances think both in long term and in short term, what would you like to do in the future and what are willing to go through to get there 🙏♥️

Having a job and going to college increases the probability that you can have a successful business. For the majority of us, college is the way to go. We're not all wired to be entrepreneurs or business people, and that's perfectly okay. Our parents advocate for colleges/unis because it's a relatively low-risk endeavour, and they went through a period where paper is everything. Most of the people interviewed here are drop-outs not because they're not smart, but because they wanted to pursue something different.
@oceanmantakemebythehand3965
But we’re all not wired to go to college as well. Which is why college suppresses the thing called “creativity”. Plus with all the grading, the workload, the stress, the DEBT once you graduate, makes college in general not a good choice unless you have the ability to really overcome all of these in college
@ronbeaubien

I think what you get out of college or university really depends on where you go and what you make out of it. I was lucky to have been able to go to one of the top universities in the world. It was amazing. There were so many smart people from all over the world, who often could speak several languages, who were open minded, and interested in making an impact on the world. It was such a confluence of ideas and opportunities. I wouldn't trade it for anything. However, I could easily see if I had gone to a local college, with uninspiring professors, and no out-of-state or foreign students, or perhaps a school constrained by religious or ideological conservatism, then my experience might have been quite different.

Noah I LOVE your videos but could you maybe make more videos on why it SUCKS to be an entrepreneur? The dark side of it. The dirt and grime. So that we can get an honest look at that life path. Because we see your videos, the lighting is perfect, it’s bright, it’s sending a positive message, it’s saying look at all these million and billionaires, but it’s not telling the full truth that would help people really relate and know what to expect, especially if they get inspired by one of your videos to drop everything and become an entrepreneur. Just a suggestion. Keep the videos coming!!!!

Let me tell you something. WHAT YOU ARE ACTUALLY FEELING ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP IS EXACTLY THE TRUTH. Entrepreneurship is hard. I'm currently building Instagram page to make $3000 per month. At the beginning, growing the audience was hard. Now everything is going like I wanted in the beginning, but was after a year.

You don't just become an entrepreneur bro. It's basically identify a relevant market oppurtunity and go after it and make profit. If the market oppurtunity isn't relevant stay in the institutional structure of school and be safe.

This video is pretty misleading. Is college neccessary is a pretty bland statement. Is college and higher education neccessary for an individual to become rich. Hell to the no. But IT IS NECCESSARY to keep a functioning society. Every job in a society is like a cog in a clock. Without doctors, engineers, scientists, IT specialists, chefs and etc society wouldnt function nearly as luxeriously as it does right now. This in turns allows new buisnesses options to open up for entrepreneurs. Also lets not forget that if you pursue a higher education, the chances of u becoming a millionaire are way more than compared to someone who dropped out.

I dropped out on my second year to start a car phone company. Yes CAR phone, mounted in your trunk at $4K with a 8 month wait. I think if you get your first 2 years done that is almost all you will need but I want my kids to graduate so they have the option of working for THE MAN if necessary. I know that sounds hypocritical but that is my opinion. YMMV

I sold my 1st business (corner bar) and went into sales working for a friend who sold trunk mounted car phones. I made a killing for about 2 years at 23-25 years old. Had a black vette with a phone and I was literally just driving up and down the highway looking for high end cars and convincing them to lease a phone from me. Sold about 40 per month every month until Metrophone decided to cut commissions.

I liked the video, but what is the percentage of college dropouts who become millionaires versus the percentage of college dropout who don't? I think that matters. For most people, they are probably much more likely to become millionaires after getting a good education than those who don't.

I just want to add that raising 27M does not mean you are worth 27M. If the company does not succeed you will actually be in debt so it’s a misleading label to call someone a millionaire if their company is not built and profitable yet and they just raised millions…

Again, nice video taco head ! I appreciate your content and way of delivering it. For the part with Chandler Bolt, I totally agree. As Nobel Prize winner Daniel Kahneman said in his Prospect Theory, we give more weight to loss than gain. A very psychological clue to embed in our day to day tasks to be efficient. A balance completely shifts the course of our actions to a better decision making. And hey, if there is a risk ? well one must remember that we learn from risk and noise in our life, Kahneman explains this very well in his last book "Noise", as well as Nassim Taleb in his book "Antifragile". Again, great content man ! from a follower of your first 1k subs batch :)
