When your mom said “ya no son mis sueños, son los tuyos” as a first gen college student I felt that!!! I feel like many of us are really out here trying to live our parents dreams, but I think it’s time to normalize that it’s ok to not live our their dreams, bc we have OUR own. it’s so hard through bc you feel guilt, you want to make them proud etc. But hearing your mom acknowledge that, that was her dream not your brings such relief to know it’s ok if we don’t follow that “go to college” plan as long as we live our our own dreams & are happy!
Yes gurl!!! I was going to college for teaching because that’s what my parents wanted me to do & girl let me tell you I was miserable!!!! I sat them down & told them I dropped out & In enrolled into beauty school. My mom was disappointed but 🤷🏽♀️

Santea I truly believe that you should talk to your parents into having their own little podcast because it’s so different how parents have different perspectives from kids our generation, it felt like i was there with you guys and your parents were giving me advice or talking to me and I would honestly watch them and even show my parents. It can be like a little hobby they have or just make more videos with them and we ask them for advice about things, growing up I didn’t really have a father figure and it’s like your parents motivated me and I see that they raised you well with a good mentality and they’re very supportive, you have amazing parents but please think about the podcast thing!

I also dropped out of college due to mental health and not really knowing what I want my career to be, but having to tell your Mexican parents that you don’t want to continue school is really hard.
