This is genius man! I am Deaf and I’m in school now, I’m trying to become an ASL teacher as well. I am a little late in the game but man you are an inspiration keep it going with these videos!
You are Amazing 🙌🏻.. I am Arabic sign language interpreter and practicing ASL, my goal is to become ASL interpreter. Thank you so much for your amazing job that you are doing
Love this video ...I was an interpreter for 10 years and have been out of it for 15 years and NOW getting back into it...and this was a pleasure to watch.
This is wonderful! Your signing is amazing and I love the vocab you chose! I knew some of it already but there was plenty of new things; and of course context with the sentences helps tremendously. I hope you have more and are maybe planning to put out more! There's so many basic ASL things, but I really need a good shove towards the advanced signs.
I have my interpreter (basic level) in 2 weeks and Im using your videos to help me study for the test. Thank you for helping me get better at my receptive skills.
I am beginner ASL and need to learn FAST. This is definitely that right place to be! Great videos! Please keep adding more vocabulary videos like this one.
Love how clear your signing content is. A lot of ASL material I've interacted with looks stilted as they are trying to teach in a very unnatural way. Your signing is smooth and easy to follow!
This was really cool to watch. I’m an interpreting student. I liked seeing these new signs that I can utilize more. I also really like your signing style it is very fluid and beautiful:)
Something to keep in mind for other people watching this is that some of these can be dialect as well. I've seen some of these signs just slightly different here out west in Colorado. Not wrong on either end but I love seeing how Jeremy signs v. what a lot of us use out here. Thanks for this video, I love the aesthetic, easy to see and understand without being against a drab coloured cloth. :D
I’m hard of hearing and wear hearing aids and I sign but my wife and children don’t. There aren’t many others in this area to sign with so these videos help me feel better connected. Great practice for me.
Thanks for the information, I'm much appreciated you for that, Im deaf, and I used to be social with hearing world because I don't even know what signs is to be meaning in words. For example, I am trying to think what a word in ASL, with CL. I've been searching your RU-vid that I found. Your sign is making a sense to me and I need it. :)
Love this video! I haven’t looked at more of your videos, but in this day and age of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) discussions, I’m wondering if you have a specific sign for “equity”? I’ve seen different signs, but none that seem to represent conceptually correct. (I’m an interpreter). Thanks!
Stumbling through RU-vid.... I saw one of your videos...(fast pace) but it led me to another.. and another .. and then I was hooked. I'm glad I'm hooked.. the learning will be challenging. I do have a question.. on this video..are the variations of signs different from those used in the south ?
Thanks so much! When you signed about the eating competition between brothers, did you sign "he beat me"? Just want to make sure I understand how to use it directionally. Thanks again!
Hey, with regards to putting one speaker on hold to have a brief discussion with another speaker, how polite/rude is this method, are there other methods, and what's the general length of time that the second conversation can last before it *does* become rude? I expect these are different from similar moves in English, especially since putting a finger in someone's face like that *is* typically seen as rude -- and because when you're looking away from your conversation partner, you have effectively shut off their *ability* to continue, in a way that doesn't happen for hearing conversational partners (unless perhaps you leave the room altogether).
Hello Jeremy.I love you for lesson ASL and thanks for your investment time.I am from Russia however I am Citizen Canada .I am still to learn ASL and enjoy .Please keep going all the way and I already subscribed your blog.I found you from You Tube .Have a blessing wonderful life.
I am learning by myself with no one to sign to. Doing ok but its harder to retain when I dont get real practice. I love the language and hope i can get the hang of it. I just recently got a job at Lowe's still waiting to do the background check but want to try to refresh my signs for Hardware tools and such, just in case I do run into a customer that is deaf, who knows.
I am enjoying watching your videos, Jeremy. I wonder if you could show the difference between "falling behind" and "avoiding." Is it the same except for the context?
Really fantastic video! Lots of youtubers out there showing beginner signing, but we need more of these advanced videos! Thanks again, subscribe just now ;)
This was wonderful and much needed. Please continue doing these videos so that I can learn more of the English idioms or verbage that is a challenge to sign.
Good Video! The only one I don't think is conceptually accurate is the "cutting costs" There is no cutting happening, but really what the phrase means is deducing costs wherever you see fit. I think a better way to relay that message would be to put in the sign for "minimize" Example: My boss says the company needs to cut costs, so some of my co-workers are being laid off, but I get to stay." Better to say "Company barely getting by (scarce), minimize costs have to, group co-workers fire fire fire, my job keep." This is just my suggestion, of course feel free to use your language whatever way you see fit!
@M. P. I agree, deaf signers do tend to say that. My comment is from an Interpreters point of view and is solely based on concept, but this is often used
I'm sorry I can't catch the sign at 47 seconds. Captions say "homework". It's a sign I see a lot but I never understand it. What is it can anyone help? Thank you ❤
This seems like an almost exact copy of Bill Vicars advanced vocab videos. At first I thought it was just a coincidence but almost all of the signs were ones he used and you did them in the exact same order...
