@@paulrichards6894 That was not in the plan. This is corruption on a massive scale..just seeing how Alan Bates was blocked shows that..and they even tried to block the first judicial enquiries by saying the judge was biased and tried to get him to recuse himself. Crooked to the core this Government. Hope they get kicked into touch in the election.

According to The Guardian, there was an instance where a user attempted to confirm receipt of cash. Each time the user pressed 'enter' on the frozen screen, the record would update. I'm inclined to think this might not be a software bug, but rather a hardware or network error. The user should have checked the transaction. One would wonder if anyone found it odd that the same transaction could be listed within a few minutes. Did anyone bother to verify the data? The news reports that the cash was less than expected, but were there more stamps than indicated in the data? If so, someone should have noticed that they were not sold. Has Fujitsu admitted to the fault, or is it a result of the post office's management error? The news of this issue has spread worldwide, tarnishing Fujitsu's reputation. If the fault lies more with the post office than with Fujitsu, there's a potential risk of legal action against the post office by Fujitsu. It's not uncommon for users to operate systems in ways engineers could not predict, and in this case, the post office had to inform Fujitsu after three staff members were accused. While it might be Fujitsu's fault, the involvement of 700 people in the post office and court errors raises questions about the true source of the problem.

What Farage experienced was what tens of thousands of others were experiencing , the banks were acting in a manner that was most unacceptable , ie judging people on their opinions and closing accounts leaving thousands of people in limbo , the government were forced to act to protect the population as a whole from the banks who should be focusing on business not being Woke . It is essential that the pressure on the government is constant otherwise they will undoubtedly try to make the whole thing go away , it would appear that justice is only applied if it has no other option.

@@michaeltoohey1385 It's a bit odd to refer to a post office that was being prepared for privatization as "the state". Post Office was operating, as Thatcherism dictated, as a private company or "brand", as they called it. Outsourcing to Fujitsu was part of that programme. And we don't have "state-run media" in this country: there is a national broadcaster, the BBC, but its journalists - John Sweeney, in particular - were among those asking the difficult questions.

All these politicians are able to be crooks given have a chance. It's time the honours lists are done away with if it is just friends and family that are being nominated. Your friend Paul's has handed back her gong after 1,200,000 embarrassed her but she should have stripped of the award for the lies and corruption she presided over. Now she needs to be removed from the NHS board and the money she amassed by her actions needs to go directly to the Post Office Station masters who lost so much including family members over the past 24 years.

My sarcastic thoughts on what will happen The Government will order a Judicial Review . This will be delayed whilst Lawyers take the Government to court challenging some of the appointees. No evidence will be taken from the convicted employees. During this time no convictions are overturned or compensation payed. At the conclusion of the review , two years down the line , it is discovered that two of "the judges" had financial connections to Fujitsu and Horizon . The review is abandoned and the Government instigates a Committee Of Inquiry to look into the operation of the Judicial Review . Meanwhile no convictions are overturned or compensation paid . Because a lot of evidence has disappeared due to a computer malfunction, the Inquiry is halted . The Government promises a Ministerial Committee will be formed in due course.

Him and his pals in government and hmrc are very detached from reality, hence him not having a real emotional response. I don't know why the director loan scandal and what he and HMRC did doesn't attract more attention, maybe we should ask ITV to dramatise HRMC being complicit with director loans, then u-turning and demanding unethical amounts of money from their victims. When considering this please remember which Government you are talking abut. The scandal is dated 1999 to 2015, so from 1999 to 2010 there were two Labour Governments, Blair and Brown. Pat McFadden, a Labour Post Office Minister has emerged today as one who ignored pleas for help and sided with the Post Office. Were there others? From 2010 t0 2015 the Tory/Liberal Coalition was in power and Ed Davey, who was Post Office Minister and similarly sided with the Post Office, has rightly been targeted and the media is trying to bring him to task. Please do not just blame the current Government who arrived at this scandal very late.

The trouble was that no matter what MP's asked, the stock response from the PO was that system was robust, could not be interfered with as no-one except the sub-Post Master could access their account! That's why - and Civil Servants who advise Government Ministets accepted the lie, despite as Civil Servants (I was one) we knew full well that our official accounts could be accessed by IT without our knowledge or consent. Add in the fact that scammers were conning people and thereby gaining access to bank accounts etc., the Civil Servsnts involved were rather dilatory in their duties to the Government!

The Postal Scandal is symbolic of the Tory Culture that has developed and developed from 2010 of if things go wrong then the first to be blamed are those lower down the pecking order they have to take the blame, they have to take the wrap and they have to pick up the cost. It's a Tory culture that has developed where the more senior the management the more untouchable you become. Point the finger at someone else make sure they take the wrap it's always somebody else's fault in order so that the higher up the pecking order you are the less likely that you will be seen as accountable. Rewarded for failure - that should be the next Tory slogan at their next Tory Party Conference. What outcomes are we seeing in relation to the PPE scandal?

PO and Fujistu shareholders should be paying the compensation. It was them who defrauded and pocketed the postmasters' money. Of course, we're footing the bill again. What a country.

Don't forget if a person on the street was caught sweeping things under the carpet they would go to jail, people at a higher level knew there was a problem because the amount of post offices having the money disappearing, unfortunately the British Government has a very large carpet just to protect there mates in suits, Any MP and upper management of the PO who knew of this problem should loose everything and go to jail and why were these software companies given the contracts, I'll leave you to work that out, Manila comes to mind.

When speaking on this, it’s horrendous that the phrase “should be jailed” isn’t in each and every paragraph. We don’t want “down to the bottom of this” and ‘answers’. We just want the POL and Fujitsu employees jailed, while Fujitsu shells out compensation plus interest. It’s not merely a case of answers and compensation. We want hard justice.
