This weekend ASM Scholarships met up with Shaun Maswanganyi and gave us a University tour showing us the athletic facilities he uses at the University of Houston.
About Shaun:
Shaun is one of ASM Scholarships' greatest success stories. In 2019 he was an African Junior Champion, African Junior Silver medalist, four-time African National Champion, current South African 60m Indoor U20 National Record hold (6.65), current South African 100m record holder (10.06) Finished second in the 100m and first in the 200m at the 2019 CAA Outdoor African Youth and Junior Championships.... picked up a trio of podium finishes at the 2019 South African Outdoor Championships including a second-place finish in the 100m, a first-place finish in the 200m and a third-place finish in the Long Jump.... won both the 100m and the Long Jump at the 2019 U20 South African Schools Championships... finished third in the Long Jump at the 2018 U18 South African Championships... secured a first-place finish in the Long Jump and third-place finish in the 100m at the 2016 U16 South African Championships. Shaun Maswanganyi is now an NCAA qualifier and will be heading to Oregon next weekend for the finals. He will also be competing in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo this July.
