Never uses Fable Arts ✔️ Only uses Fire Elemental in Grindstone ✔️ All his P Organ Updates are useless because he never uses them ✔️ Almost never blocks or parry ✔️ Never has the right amulet and resistances equipped ✔️ Doesn't know what Advance means after 20 hours of playing ✔️ Never uses the rally (Bloodborne mechanic to lifesteal hp after block)✔️ Skips 1/3 of the items he sees in his path ✔️ Never uses his legion arm ✔️ All his stats are distiputed wrong based on his built (with zero points in capacity) ✔️ Uses the same strategy and inventory on every single boss and area till he beats them ✔️ I have not seen someone who has beaten all Souls games be so fucking bad 😂

@@perlatapatia4334 Because you have to learn to block and parry, which is a core mechanic of the game. If you don't bother learning that, then you're in for a rough time. And some weapons have better response times, or larger parry windows, or at least, that's what it seems to me.

​@@perlatapatia4334They track a little sure but it's hardly an auto lock aimbot lol. The game just wants you to dodge or block at the correct timing, thats it. And a majority of the bosses you can just run around them and avoid a lot of their moves.

For the last 5 years, I've watch Asmon, and I've agreed with every take he has. I have to disagree with him on this one. It's usually funny to watch him play games without needing, or even bothering to learn much of anything about the game. Lies of P was crafted in a way that emphasized learning it's upgrade system to determine the difficulty slider. He can have his opinion about delayed attacks. I just see them the same as rapid attacks in Sekiro, you learn the timing of the beat, you don't literally see every swing. Lies of P is designed for the player to use all your tools to dodge, block, and parry bosses. Asmon uses subpar builds, with subpar gear, with subpar stat distribution, but the blames the game for having bad boss fights, and not his own arrogance to learn how the game functions. His surface level understanding of games, push button to attack or push button to dodge, didn't work for him immediately. So it's a badly designed game? I got no problem with him or his content, but I'm starting to see why he gets hate.

You’re not wrong. I feel like it’s the same for pretty much every game I’ve seen him play. He’s entertaining to watch but criticizes games when there things he’s actively choosing not to utilize. Like how in the beginning of this video he’s finding out what a legion arm is. I’m confused about how this is possible.

@@topical6574 Everyone is entitled to feel how they want about delayed attack. At the end of the day, it's just an attack you have to learn the timing for. The reason I bring it up, is when starting a new souls game, he always says he doesn't react well, so he learns the timing. But when confronted with delay attacks, it's suddenly not something you react to, you have to learn the timing??? So how does an combat system that seemingly favors his learning curve s problem?

I love watching his reactions and so on but when it comes to souls games there is only so much I can take before being extremely anoyed by his way of doing things. I usually watch LobosJr when it comes about souls games let's play. He is good AF and a super nice guy

He also has a very strong tendency to believe that his opinions are indisputable facts, to the point sometimes it doesn't seem like he's even listening to the words coming out of his mouth. He went into copium overload during the Nameless Puppet fight; that fight is nearly perfect and he was more focused on whining about it than even paying attention to the mechanics and realizing that it has some of the clearest telegraphs in the game.

I agree that all of these types of games should be beatable with a big sword, but they made a big point here of attaching a secondary to you permanently... and the bosses health reflects that. It gives you a decent amount of extra damage and stagger potential in every fight, even with just the string or flame thrower. I cleared all the bosses within two attempts, but I wouldn't have if I used asmons' weapon... he 's doing a roleplay playthrough when he plays these games, though, and that's part of the fun.

People don't hate on DS3 for the stupid jailer enemies that reduce your health to 1 with a single attack, even though they are way more annoying than any enemy in this game could ever hope to be. Except maybe the clown with the two chain-axes, that thing is a real contender.

I know I am in the minority on this one but I dont even play these games for the boss fights, I love the builds, the world building, the level design and exploration, and just the overall story. Theres a number of bosses and enemies in the FromSoft games that I think are just complete bullshit and not fun at all to fight, But to me they are just something that stands in my way to the part of the game I like lol. Alot of times the Lore and reason behind the boss is way more important than the fight itself to me@@im2arrogant118

Doesn't mean its fun. I don't thing a sentient puppet irl would hold their arm up for full seconds, then slap me, because I'd walk away in those few seconds. If a zombie was a slow ass wimp doing the same thing, I would also walk away. If anything, things like robots and puppets should be fast, their joints would either be smooth to the point of faster than the usual human, or if stiff jointed from 'overuse' if we are going that route, the arm would be stiff and move in one full motion with what I would expect to be the same speed. I'm no fucking engineer, just how I think it would go.

Let's be real, Asmon "most" of the time doesn't really learn muscle memory, have a change in reaction time, pattern recognition, most of the time he either brute forces his way through or cleverly uses another mechanic built into the game to compensate, like hyperarmor/poise, heavy armor/weapons, spamming jump attacks with overpowered Halberds over and over again. It's why he believes Dark souls and Elden Ring are the peak of the genre over Bloodborne and Sekiro, they demand the player to learn and adapt more than the former. But any long time Asmon viewer and Soulsborne veteran knows this about the way he plays these games. Frankly outside of the swamp thing and the boring npc "bosses", i thought the boss cast was phenomenal, with Nameless Puppet even edging out Radagon for me, I would even go so far as to say I liked Lies of P more than Elden Ring and wish Fromsoft would have expanded on what they did with Sekiro and Bloodborne as opposed to going down the route of open worlds with dark souls and some Sekiro sprinkles

Indeed ma G lies of p was and still absolutely lovely but the amount of crying and complaining about the bosses is ridiculous and i believed that those who did that are the same ones that never relied on themselves when playing fromsoftware games or souls-like. Like i imagine it would've shocking for them that they can't use the mimic or other tools that basically makes them braindeads that only spams without a thought. And that's why i admire lies of p and the developers because they showed who actually enjoys these games and the ones who know nothing bit crying and complaining

If memory serves, Asmon's point is Sekiro's as perfect a game as one can expect while Elden Ring's as perfect a experience as one can expect. Not that ER is a better game.

@@Boss_Fight_Wiki_muki_twitch I could be wrong but I believe when he says Sekiro is a perfect game, he means it's solid, as in there is little to no flaws with the game, I'm sure you can agree there are things we think are perfect in that matter but we might not like it as much as something more flawed. I'm pretty confident in saying Asmon prefers Souls/ER to Sekiro and Bloodborne.

@@jcnom6606 Asmon mentioned this some videos back. He's saying Sekiro's the perfect game built from perfect core mechanics. Whereas Elden Ring's the perfect experience with the mechanics/world/assets serving the narrative core.

a lot of people are hating on the bosses, but they tend to never use their resources like fable or consumables or trying a different weapon type. There is nothing wrong with trial and error it is literally the same for any souls game, you will die multiple times, it seems when people die in this game they have less patience.

Consumables shouldn't be part of the very core mechanic of defeating a boss, it should be a bonus that players can use if they want or not. Relying on it too much means that the player actively AVOIDS the mechanics of the boss fights. Weapons is another different problem, upgrades are very rare making the player choose very few weapons to upgrade, on top of that the weight so damn ridiculous that the 2 slot weapon on the menu is borderline useless AND the respec can only be unlocked 60% of the game, making the player stuck on their chosen build most of the time. Yes.. there's nothing wrong with trial and error, every souls game has that, But the Lies of P's bosses with it's erratic moveset, delayed attacks and borderline unreadable moves with heavy attack spamming, so few downtime and on top of all of that.. ridiculous healthpools makes the fights more TEDIOUS rather than fun, challenging and rewarding.

Also you can +9 any weapon in the game through the shop. weight has been changed in a recent update, I agree weight sucked at the time. The movesets are fine lol, ever play elden ring? they wait like 5 seconds each attack.

​@dracodawa6870 buddy this isn't fucking fromsoft. The consumables literally scale with your build. The devs didn't just add junk like fromsoft does. They're essential tools not bonuses. If you don't want to use them go ahead, but don't act like they need to balance the game around your playstyle. The tools ARE THERE FOR A REASON.

@@TheSuperPlayerify yes I've played elden ring, Ive played every souls game. The delayed attacks on that game is one of the most criticized aspects and almost no one defends it. People pushed back on it so that the devs wont rely on it too much on their future games and that's a good thing. punishing the player because of their inability to observe is super fine, tricking the player with "AHA I got you!" attacks is not. It breaks the Illussion of a self contained world and instead you're starting to see the hands of the developers playing tricks on you.

​@@dracodawa6870upgrades are not rare at all. You can max upgrade like 5 regular weapons and 2 boss weapons per playthrough, for normal weapons you can have infinite +9 weapons in base ng. You also have like 10+ of each stat handle cranks. Also items are part of the game and part of the combat, you can't just say nuh uh and ignore that.

People in chat are hating this game for the sake of hating this game. Literally no other reason. So youre mad cause you cant bullsh*t your way through the game? And then you get even madder that the game punishes you for trying to do so? This is like playing Elden Ring without Torrent, or Sekiro without Parrying, or Dark Souls without Rolling. Some bosses in this game require you to parry, some require you to block, and some require you to avoid their attacks. Its just petty to criticize a game that is supposed to be played a certain way, just because youre not willing to play it the way youre supposed to. And suddenly, a SOULSLIKE game is being criticized and called a "rip-off" and "discount ER" cause its doing a good job at being SOULS-LIKE. A valid point is the camera during bossfights, as the FoV is too small. And thats pretty much also the only valid point of criticism thats been said during this entire playthrough. The argument, that the delayed attacks are unfair, falls apart the moment you rewatch the bossfight a second time. The timing of the attacks are delayed, but they are painfully obvious to predict. Literally. Only a toddler would have problems predicting when the delayed attacks are going to hit. Its just a hard game.

Let's ignore the suboptimal...well...almost everything about his build making the game seem more difficult and just critique the pure gameplay. Blocking is so much better than dodging in this game, yet he refuses to adapt and just plays the game exactly as he would a normal souls game. Aside from the obvious allowing you to regen block dmg or avoid dealing with lingering hitboxes, you get to see/hear exactly when attacks hit to internalize patterns and learn to perfect block them that much faster. Never uses fable arts, rarely uses legion arm...I'm convinced you could give Asmon 5 different tools to hammer in a nail with, come back in an hour and he's got a bloody forehead talking bout "Bro, that nail had some janky ass hitboxes."

This is the guy that beat Elden Ring by brainlessly spamming jump attack on dual halberts. I'm not surprised he's complaining about bad boss design when he's ignoring the core mechanics i.e perfect guarding and legion arm, fable arts. If you're going to dodge instead of perfect guarding , you should at least not be slightly heavy 😂 It's not the delayed attacks make the game harder, it's your own negligence and inability to adapt.

He also complains about his weapon not hitting the boss and calling it "bad hitbox" which is blatantly untrue. Footwork is one of the most important skills you have to learn in souls games if you don't intend to parry or block like Asmon. This entails positioning yourself in the "juust right" position where you can barely avoid the enemy attacks without having to dodge or block, while being able to hit the opponent at any given moment by taking that one or two steps forward.

@@bluegamer4210 Sorry you're wrong on this, their hitboxes are in fact pretty accurate. The only attacks that are admittedly a little cheap are the ones where the telegraph is literally non existent, there were a few bosses/enemies that had one or two attacks that were just way too fast to parry and would come out of nowhere (this is coming from someone who has both platinumed and completed the Gauntlet of Strength: Mortal Journey on Sekiro btw). Is this shit game design, no I don't think so. Actual bad game design would be if these attacks one shot you out of the blue, but they don't. You're coming off as someone who wasn't very good at the game and is blaming the game for your own inadequacy.

This is the first souls-like I’ve experienced with so many people vehemently against the game like their is a chip on their shoulder. Maybe it is because it threatens their fav devs or some other biased reason, but some of the complaints floating around seemed to be divisive to point where I wonder if we played the same game. It makes me question if they actually took a step back to look at the issues with FS titles the same way.

This game is objectively good, graphics, story, especially the music for me, the art team wasn't paid enough for what they handed out. Their only shortcoming is the bosses. They're specifically made to fuck you, but they already showed they're willing to tone things down via patches. This game could in time be the best souls-like on the market.

The tribalism is frankly disgusting. This game is on par with FromSoft's best. People's biggest complaint is the parry window, and yeah it is really tight. But you also can regain health from failed parries and regain heals of you play well. The game has tons of mechanics at your disposal to deal with any difficulties you come across as long as you learn the combat systems. To see these clowns defend the jank that FromSoftware puts in their games and then turn around and criticize this game so harshly is infuriating.

Bone-Cutting Saw: *exists* At max level, the BCS head probably does the best base damage to Nameless Puppet. If you attach it to the Electric Coil handle, you can use the handle's Fable Art to smash the thing in NP's face for a huge chunk of damage.

Asmon definitely went into all-out copium mode during the Nameless Puppet fight. Saying that there's no skill involved and only memorization... that boss has the most fair attack telegraphs of almost any enemy in the game, and arguably more so than most Fromsoft bosses. He literally wasn't even paying attention to the mechanics and just focused on whining and arguing with his chat. You can clearly see the cue for you to deflect on almost all of his attacks, and in phase 2 you can dodge everything he does and get behind him for a counter attack if you just pay attention to when he jumps at you. That boss fight has great rhythm to it and arguably stands among the best bosses in the genre in terms of mechanics.

The dashing fury attack has a long telegraph that makes it perfectly reasonable to use something other than a perfect block. Nobody ever said that perfect blocking is the only form of defense for any situation, that's why the game has various other mechanics like dodging, legion arms, etc. That attack is really the only move that the nameless puppet has which isn't telegraphed by a distinct cue in its animation, so if you think half of it's moveset is untelegraphed, then you're just incompetent. His other delayed attacks all break their windup animation with a clear motion that signifies that it's time to block. My point was about the nameless puppet's moveset as a whole and the rhythm of the fight which results from those mechanics and how they are animated. If the fact that a single move that you're not required to perfect block somehow makes the entire moveset of a boss into a total memorization game in your eyes, then it sounds like you just have an extremely poor ability to maintain perspective. Almost all good bosses have one or two mechanics that promote some kind of improvisation in response.

Just like in Sekiro, some combos involve fast consecutive attacks that can only be deflected by matching their rhythm and that can only be done to an extent through memorization. Maybe if you didn't have this irrational fear of memorizing things, you'd actually have learned enough over the course of your existence to recognize the fact that "memory" is an inherent part of learning and improving at anything. There's nothing wrong with some boss mechanics requiring a degree of memorization, but it's still nonsense to whine about the bosses as if the only challenge is memorizing arbitrary timing-- that is simply false. As for the subtle cues I mentioned, they are absolutely there and you are completely braindead if you don't understand what I'm talking about. I shouldn't need to spell this out, but apparently you are incapable of following what I'm saying unless I do-- most of the cues to react to are not simply the start of a clear attack animation, but rather a particular twitch or a momentary sticking point in the animation that occurs BEFORE the swing and once you recognize those as being the ending point of the windup, you can look for them in order to react to them, rather than trying in vain to block the moment you see the attack actually coming down. For example, the King of Puppets' first phase indicates almost all his attacks by freezing his animation for a brief second after an otherwise fluid and slow windup; you are supposed to initiate your block the moment you see him stop moving, rather than when he starts to swing into you-- no timing memorization needed. I also said that the visual cues coincide with the timing, which is why anyone claiming it is simply a matter of memorizing the timing is indicating that they don't even understand exactly what they are doing; in the vast majority of cases, you are memorizing the timing and the visual cues simultaneously, which is what makes it possible to learn the mechanics in a reasonable manner.

All souls games involve memorization; the whole point of the boss design in these games is that you have to learn the mechanics to know how to deal with them, and learning entails a degree of memorization. There are only a small handful of attacks in this game that require strictly memorizing the timing alone to avoid, and the ones that do call for such a response are often best dealt with by means other than perfect blocking. This is a factually correct statement, and it is what I have been saying from the start. Most of the points you are making are just factually incorrect ramblings. This game is not a "sekiro-clone" or a "subset of sekiro" etc. It's a separate game with various mechanical differences as well as similarities with Sekiro and many other soulslike games. You can whine about it all you want and pretend that facts are whatever you childishly want them to be, but go ahead and waste someone else's time with that cause I'm done with this discussion.

just looking at his defense ring, capacitor, armor ect. he's barely optimizing any of them properly. having 20%ish damage reduction by this point in the game through those is very plausible even before the capacity stat buff. its the difference between getting 2 shot vs living even getting 3 times before needing to heal. He might just be the only person to die to the corrupted parade master more than 2 or 3 times. its the first boss's moveset + new monster arm moves. He's also not using the resistance ampoule things that boost status resistance significantly to avoid getting statuses during bosses. He complains that the moves aren't as fluid or whatever but.. what does that mean? they're a bit weird because they're moving in ways only a puppet can? if you know how each combo starts and when it ends, you can internalize it and parry or dodge then counter after the combo is done. Playing this game by not trying to learn anything and just by being reactionary is a recipe for disaster. At points he acknowledges what he needs to dodge and how to deal with moves and is unable to execute on that. which is fine- Its always easier said than done but knocking the game it and saying the animation or hitboxes are bad is just cope.

His comments on the fluidity of attacks are 100% valid, and the delayed attacks are also 100% valid. Its the biggest reason I believe Elden Ring is the worst souls game made by FromSoft. I don't find their bosses memorable due to their delayed attacks being 90% of their combos, because they needed to throw of veteran players with artificial difficulty. They are just painful to read in both Lies of P and Elden Ring (ER less so), every single fight is like doing a fucking exam and failing every time until you've finally worked it out. You don't learn anything from said exams that move over to the rest, it was just a brick wall. These guys may be puppets, but if a sentient puppet decided to give me a run for my money in real life, they wouldn't be holding punches for 2 seconds and then slapping me, joints would move smoothly. But, I can't fucking defend Asmon from everything else. He takes 0 time to learn anything I've already said, he holds heavy. He doesn't use arms. He doesn't use viable elements for enemy types. He doesn't use consumables (the most cracked thing in the game). And he sure as hell doesn't parry/dodge well, he blocks everything. I also think I saw him slot a fucking legion arm upgrade in his heart tree, which is his single most pointless quartz point he could have used for his crappy playstyle.

You have to actually fight in this this game. You can’t really out level or become op. In Elden ring he struggled with most bosses he actually had to fight. He didn’t even think to mix any dodging for position against Walker of Illusions in that small ass room. As soon chat told him to dodge, he beat the boss 😂😂

I didn't rely on dodges all that much on my playthrough until late into the game (I even only unlocked the second dodge and ground dodge after getting my p-organ to lvl 5). I'd say it helps, but you can mostly just block and only dodge as a last resort, which does help against this boss when it goes for it's fast downward slashes.

Yeah after beating Elden Ring he said Margit was the hardest boss in the game aside from Malenia (whom he argues is a gimmick boss) and that Margit should be nerfed. Anyone who didn't go out of their way to make their character as OP as possible would recognize how easy Margit's mechanics are compared to almost any late-game boss; but of course he just jump attack-spammed his way through every part of the game as soon as he managed to get his weapons to deal enough dmg and stagger to ignore boss mechanics. I am a fan of Asmon and I don't necessarily dislike the way he plays soulslike games, but sometimes I feel he overestimates the degree to which he understands the bosses and mechanics in these types of games he's played, because he doesn't even realize how often he ignores those mechanics.

Souls games were always about recognizing and memorizing boss attack patterns. It just happens that you can overpower and brute force your way in some of these games like spamming jump attacks in Elden Ring or using magic which lessens or eliminates the need to learn the boss. I'd say Lies of P is closer to Sekiro than anything.

This game is great. I'm currently on ng+2. You get extra p-organ node phase 6 and phase 7 (phase 6 was ng+1, phase 7 showed up in ng+2) With new and interesting upgrades. Like being able to equip 5 amulets instead of 4. Also you get upgraded versions of certain amulets. I got a +1 increased ergo amulets. +2 motivity, technique and advance amulets (+9 stat) The enemies are alot tankier and they hit crazy hard. I have nearly 100 in health stat and I get 2 or 3 shot very easily. You also get upgraded version of the armour items. Like Lada disruption cartridge +2 ect. Going for 100% achievements.

Off.. It was so painful watching his Simon fight. Except the facts in every comment to this video, I want to address the attacks he is talking about. 1. The hammer being off-screen. Yes, it is off-screen, but you should not focus on the weapon anyway, but on the boss, and his moves are pretty perfectly telegraphed. The hammer down with which he spent about 10 minutes debugging: you can see the boss leaning back, on only one leg. The animation starts ~2 seconds before the hit and it is very slow. There is only one such attack in that fight that uses that animation, and it is the hammer down. 2. The other attacks, all of them are perfectly telegraphed. Again, don't look for the weapon, but for the boss, the weapon will always be there, isn't going anywhere. Many of the FS Bosses have huge weapons difficult to track, but he didn't have problems with those bosses. 3. In the second phase, the boss has some mechanics that come from above, those are stupid, but they are easily avoidable if you keep moving, And they don't one shoot you. 4. Some attacks are, indeed, pretty fast, but not a problem for Perfect Parry, which the game pushes into people. Can be done without parry as well, but harder. The combat style is a player's choice. But, a problem about the quick attacks is the he tried to heal himself during each of those attacks, something he knows to not do in FS games... 5. I found it extremely funny that he says that this boss is bad, and moments later, says that Malikets is a great design. In phase 2, 90% of Maliketh's attack come from offscreens because the boss moves a lot. And 70% of his attacks are from above. But, nobody will contradict that Maliketh is a great boss. I always believed that this is a "double standards" situation. If From Software does it, then it is amazing. For example: Maliketh, all dragons, all Gargoyles, Manus in DS1, Astel, Oceiros in DS3, Priscilla, Seath and many more. I didn't even add Bloodborne, which is full of broken bosses... Actually, I will add: Darbeast, Ebrietas, Amygdala, Moon Presence, Mergo, One Reborn, Shadow of Yharhnam, Cleric Beast, Ludwig (First Phase), Laurence . All those bosses are full of attacks which come from off-screen, or jump attacks which make you lose the location of the boss, or their model makes it very difficult to see the attack. But, nobody says that the bosses are bad. But when someone else does it (Lies of P, Nioh), then it is trash. There is an equivalent in DS and Elden Ring for each boss in Lies of P, and all those bosses were praised in FS, but not here... And there are still players who beat those games with lv1 and no hit... Anyway, when he returned, he played much better. This shows that he learned the fights, which is great. Sadly, he returned with the mentality: I"It is not that I am bad at the game, because I beat every game like this." The game was designed to be hard and he proved it by beating the puppet in such a beautiful way. And the guy in the chat is right, Souls games are about memorizing the attack patterns. All bosses have different timings, damage, effect, animations. You Have to memorize them in order to be able to react to them. And I am sure he knows it. He memorized all the attacks of every boss he ever fought in every game he ever played. Your mind does it by itself.

Gotta say this is an L take from asmon, if Sekiro had the choice to just use heavy weapons and mash your head against the keyboard, he would have taken that route instead of actually learning to play the game, and he'd be saying the exact same thing about it as he is here.

I think the beauty of games is finding your own approach, not necessarily doing this one rigid narrow thing that the game wants you to do. I don't agree with Asmongold about everything, hell I don't think he's right to criticize something he hasn't learned and doesn't understand, but games that force you to play a certain way will always lose to games that allow you to forge your own playstyle. If that's what Asmon's sentiment is, I agree with that much.

It’s like saying a platformer game is bad because it’s not a platformer AND a horror game. It’s only a bad thing when the game explicitly gives you multiple playstyle but renders most useless due to a “meta”. Sekiro doesn’t fit this criteria hence why it’s excellent.

@@jaswanthvardireddy2243 No, that's not what I meant. 'Platformer' and 'horror' are two different genres. Actually it's not even two different genres, it's two completely different things. 'Platformer' is a kind of gameplay and 'horror' is tone and aesthetic. You can have a horror platformer and it's still just a platformer. No, what I mean is a game that offers player choice is better than a game that doesn't. So to take your example, if your platformer game features jumping, that's the baseline. You have a platformer. Now if it features enemies, that's better than just jumping. If it features jumping ON enemies, that's even better. If you can ALSO shoot enemies, even better, etc. Player choice when it comes to gameplay. That is of course provided all other things are equal. Sekiro only has one 'meta'. In fact it's not even a meta, it's just the single valid way to play the game. There are no others. Now, the game is good when you play it that way. But the game does not allow you to play it ANY other way.

I love this game (NG++ finished, all endings with all items collected and all side quests), and I have enjoyed Asmon's videos/streams pretty much since he started making content for WoW. However, I think it does have to be said that he isn't the most flexible player in the world. When a tactic isn't working, he refuses to exercise any form of problem solving and just throws himself against the wall over and over until his limited tactic finally sticks due to RNG. I saw him doing the same thing in AC6 and a few of the other souls-likes. It quickly builds into him being annoyed at the game when he isn't using 90% of the systems, skills and resources given to him. You can either play the long game of memorising every move a boss can make whilst figuring out where your limited playstyle finds it's openings, or you can play smart and flexible in your approach. He chooses to take the longest, most painful route more often than not and complains that a game is poorly designed.

I love Asmon but hes too much of a stubborn idiot. He handicaps himself by inventing into ONLY strength and doesn't put much in capacity or stamina making it so he can't wear ANY damage, status or special status resistance armour, he doesn't use his legion arm ever and never uses his fable arts and then he says things like "this game is trying too much to be hard". No. He just chooses to just bash his head against a wall for hours instead of learning to fix the issues. I wouldn't usually care because he wants to play how he want to play and I respect that but hes convincing chat that this game is harder then it actually is, not saying the game isn't hard though because its definitely one of the harder souls like games out there. If you throw a shot put at any enemy with the white staggerable status on the health bar you can instant stagger and get the fatal attack off easy. It helps soooo much in boss fights when your struggling to get a fully charged heavy strike in. It can also stop a move from happening if you wait for a attack animation to start and then throw a shot put they get staggered backwards and it stops the current attack. Very useful.

Using the stagger special grindstone is really good. I have beaten the game 3 times and I'm on ng+3 atm. Stagger grindstone is super strong. I have the p organ perks that give 2 uses of the grindstone (amazing in 2 stage boss fights) and I paired it with repairs weapon durability upon special grindstone use. I have 3 different tiers of legion charge on kill paired with passive legion regen and I use aegis shield arm. If you play on console you can spam the normal block button while the aegis shield is being held up to auto parry basically everything. I also have a perk that allows fury attacks to be blockable with normal guard or aegis shield being held up. It's super strong. There's also a perk to give all your guard regain back if you perfect parry. Paired with aegis shield and the perfect parry trick I just mentioned it's insanely strong. You basically never die. And also increase consumable limit and how effective legion magazines are so you can hold 6 and it takes like 3 to fully charge with 100 capacity. And I have perks that increase throwable carry limit so I can have 6 shot puts on me to help stagger.

While it makes sense to a certain point what asmon is pointing out. Its just the way that he looks at the game is the more imbalance and bias one. Like if the game caters to his taste of this one dimensional “i brute force everything big d*ck them till their dead” approach works the game to an extent is good or alright even if the game is in general bad. But if it doesn’t, its hard for him to really like the game. He will just double down on every little flaws the game has for not being in line with his preferred game style. Every player has their preference but while maybe the gameplay for slow and big weapons may have a balancing issue its a more of a asmon problem than him making it seems that its the game. Lies of p is bloodborne in adventure mobs Sekiro in mini and main bosses. Simple as that

You 100% need to understand your opponent by knowing their moveset. He talks absolute bull sometimes. I love this game beat it 2 times already. I beat it once before the patch and once after the patch and it was merciless before the patch. This game nailed that souls feel for me which soulslike games never do. These devs deserve praise, they were making phone games then released this masterpiece like wow.

Let’s be real here. Asmon doesn’t even “play” these games at this point. Lies of P practically drip feeds you the story of the game (without even reading any of the items that explain everything) yet he still has no idea what is going on or why he is doing what he is doing. Of course a boss isn’t as fun to beat when you have literally no clue who or what it means in the spectrum of the game. STOP PLAYING EVERY GAME LIKE ITS DARK SOULS. Yes it is a souls-like but it is it’s own game. He said it himself, he was not having fun in sekiro due to being stubborn and playing as if it was DS, but the second he allowed himself to learn a new game he loved it. Between the weapon modifications, Legion arms, fable arts, grindstones, and amulets, this game has arguably the most unique (and easy) play styles. Yet 30+ hours into the game asmon has made one weapon mod, never used a legion arm to any useful degree, and levels up straight motivity for the meme. No shit you don’t like the game, since we love DS references so much that would be like playing dark souls 1 without the ability to roll or block. It is ignorant to play a game and ignore all the base combat functionalities, then turn around and critique it like your opinion truly matters. But the saddest thing is that it does. If you played the game yourself and truly got into it the way it was made to be. You know it is an absolutely beautiful experience from start to finish. And there is no need to compare it to ER or DS, let it be it’s own good game.

Hardly. The game is good no doubt, but its riddled with the typical ue4 jank. The camera is totally bugged, you see it all the time in asmons playthrough and anyone on kbm knows about this. The fps is tied to your sensitivity, so low fps areas are annoying. And of course the classic UE4 blurry/weird looking/popping in textures are super noticable. Also, the game is basically just a slightly darker and higher res DS3 with the ability to swap weapon handles and random attacks that force you to parry. No shot its goty or anywhere close. Most bosses are fine, but some bosses are pretty aids if you use a slow weapon, so if you dont have both a slow and fast weapon you're kind of cucked on some fights.

Noticed straight away as soon as he got a high dps weapon, instead of learning when to dodge, when to block and when to parry, he just W keys headfirst through the bosses offence and calls it bad game design because his getting hit so much, or cant see the bosses movesets. There is no need to be stuck completely up Manus's ass, he requires a little distance, his big slow swings are quite easy to parry, and sneaking hits in when his recovering his stance will break his posture. Also at this point in the game you can respec a lot of different mechanics (your skill points, skill tree and puppet arm) to better optimise the character. The weapon handle is modifyable to scale better with your stats. In the Manus fight his given up on using whetstones, doesnt use throwables or other buffs/debuffs, didnt use his fable attacks. Walker of illusions was a perfect example of how his unwillingness to try a different strategy in the fight made him lose over and over and over again until he read someone elses suggestion to side step instead blocking.

It's not like Asmon is my favorite streamer but I don't hate him either, I watch him from time to time, he is a pretty cool guy. But it's amazing to see him ignoring the armor system of the game, still running around with gear from the 1st Chapter to like close to end game areas, he never used the Legion arm he has equipped, never uses any pots to help against de-buffs, plays with probably the most slow ass weapon in the game charging attacks every time(and he wonders how does he get git),never uses fable attacks ,I don't know about the quality of his weapons since I never played any ,I hate their move sets but they do seem kind of bad. So he is literally IGNORING every mechanic and tool the game offers and then spits out this horrendous takes about "no fluidity in animations, no tells, delayed attacks are so bad omg its disgusting ,this boss attacks make no sense omg why isn't the game's bosses telegraphed with 3 scripted attacks AND tells with them so I can parry them all and kill the boss in 1 minute." I don't know what's worse.His denial to adapt 'cause he just wants to brute force like a cave man blindly mashing Light, Heavy and Charged attacks and maybe a parry here and there? Or his brain dead chatters sayin the same or even worse atrocious takes just to get a little bit of recognition and copium juice from the streamer instead of accepting they just suck at the game. It's really sad because he has this big platform/audience that will listen to whatever he says and then go out in the internet and spread whatever bullshit he said so the game just gets bad recognition/reputation for no reason except for the streamer being dogshit at it.

99% of his complaints would absolutely not be an issue if he was willing to adapt and use all the tools at his disposal. This game is so good. Laxasia took me 4 hours to beat and I enjoyed every minute of it without raging. The only time I got angry was when I was stuck in a corner getting gang banged by the Black Rabbits.

Laxasia was annoying just due to the visibility at the start of P2, like you almost can't see the last dash is a red attack, but damn I enjoyed it a lot. Realizing that she slows down before a teleport is much more fulfilling and because she's squishy enough it was my favorite boss. She's harder than the swamp boss P2 but definitely more fair than him with his train attack with such a small arena which a lot of the times, I you get it by hit, you will get stuck and hitted twice without the ability to react

Asmon's complaints about the combat mostly come down to the fact that the cues for when you need to react to boss attacks are much more subtle than those of most other good soulslike games. It can definitely be frustrating, but he's acting like he's stating an objective fact by calling that "bad design", but it's not inherently bad. The fact is that this game's combat forces you to pay very close attention to what is happening in order to time your responses correctly or to even figure out how to do that in the first place. Sometimes I think the devs went a bit overboard with that aspect of the game, but it's not an inherently bad thing and I think that people who like these types of games for challenging combat have a legitimate reason for appreciating how it was designed. Asmon is just frustrated because he does not like having to focus that hard on those kinds of things; he generally prefers to try to get through these types of games using character power to ignore a good chunk of the mechanics and the lack of poise, high boss hp etc. make it harder to do that in this game if you don't use consumables and other alternative player mechanics.

@@InternetUser-fi6vb It's not simply a matter of "memorizing" the timing, because the timing coincides with the animation of the boss attacks, which typically involves various subtle movements; paying attention to the windups through some trial and error will teach you which part of the animation is the cue for the actual attack. Timing is often a part of it, but sometimes it's more important to recognize what is happening on screen. You can whine all you want about how the cue doesn't look like the start of an attack, but that is clearly the point in many cases. You're supposed to observe and learn what to respond to, rather than just blocking or dodging at times which are completely obvious. If you don't like that, then that's your problem; it's not inherently bad design.

The subtly is in the animation cue which signifies the attack after a delayed windup and the first attack in most boss combos does exactly that. A lot of boss combos in the game don't even have quick follow ups, they are just consecutive delayed attacks that are individually difficult to read unless you pay close attention and learn, so I don't even know what you're referring to.

It seems like you are so hyperfixated on the idea that they are unfair that you are either lying about how they function or you are blinded by your own frustration and didn't notice or can't remember. Some combos involve fast follow-ups and plenty of them do not. The majority of combos in the game that bosses use on you are just consecutive attacks with similarly timed windups. To say otherwise is factually inaccurate. Most of the attacks that the Nameless Puppet uses, mid combo or not, are perfectly reactable and clearly telegraphed. I was already able to consistently perfect block more than half of his attacks in the first phase even during my first attempt at the fight, having never seen his combos before and by my 4th or 5th attempt, I was comfortably getting him to phase 2 without using more than 1 heal; phase two is harder to do so with, but that is largely because of the visual clutter from his magic effects-- his follow-ups still tend to be paced out similarly.

@@bunklypeppzi only died to nameless puppet in the first face ONCE that fight is amazingly telegraphed and so freaking well paced, even when he changed the way he used the weapons to a faster version or a spear type, it was pretty well telegraphed and the one time I died to the first phase was literally my own fault but it was such a good fight, I loved this game and I’m in NG+ and fighting the first few bosses and beating them on the first try really showed me HOW MUCH I’ve progressed and gotten good at the game mechanics (perfect guard, dodging when needed and blocking when needed) people who complained about the mechanics are not actively engaging with the game mechanics honestly.

This game is not perfect but I feel like Asmon was unfair in some of his criticisms. The attack timing is needs to be learned, it’s just part of this games mechanics. I found it really satisfying to finally start parrying everything. It seems that he wanting it to be more like Dark Souls, rather than it’s own thing.

He tries to brute force the boss fights by continuously hitting them until he gets hit and then complains that the boss design is bad. After like 5 tries I was able to avoid or block Manuse's 1st phase attacks so well that I only had to use 1-2 pulse cells. If all the attacks are so easily red and you wouldn't have to learn the patterns, there would be zero challenge.

@@quintit What does parry have to do with anything I said? My point was that you have to learn enemy attack patterns instead of spamming attack until you get hit.

How is that even possible to play all those soulslike games and still be so arrogant, ignorant and terrible? That's mindblowing how bad he is with those games because he ignores all the mechanics. Same situation as with Wo Long. Absolutely ridiculous 😂

This game is great I’ve beaten it yesterday and have been playing ng+1. The biggest thing for me and idk for others is the fact it feels like sekiros systems don’t mix well with bloodborne systems. It feels as if there fighting each other. Plus the bosses have a lot of plus frames on their attacks which make it hard to counter because of spacing but overall great game

I believe its great that the bosses have different timings all the time because this way you have to base the block on cue and not on timing, which makes it way more interactive and difficult to beat them.

06:30:08 - "She just attacks non-stop...", many bosses in Lies of P do this when you don't perfect guard anything. You can play the game however you find fun, of course. Dodge and hard block to your content. But if you want breaks, perfect guarding will often stop their combos and present an opening. Sometimes they end the combo early, other times it gives you a mini-stagger.

Bosses in Lies of P have: 1. Snappy animations 2. Misleading animations 3. Lack of fluidity with jump and distance attacks These 3 things force the player to anticipate what a boss will do rather than react. You can improve stats and parry more and use more abilities, but that doesn't change the fact that the bosses are not fun to engage with. I would support this game's difficulty if the animations were such that you could react rather than have to memorize their timing. I honestly believe that people defend the lack of fluid and consistent animations to make themselves feel good about themselves for beating the game. If that's what you're really doing, that's fine. Just be honest that the game would be more fun if the "snappiness" was removed from the attack animations. Being honest helps future souls-like games become more fun by adhering to higher standards, not artificial difficulty tuning.

I love Lies of P and its bosses, but yeah I think this is a pretty reasonable want, I could definitely feel the 'snappiness' you described, but in my experience that didn't artificially inflate the difficulty. But do keep in mind this is there first ever souls game.

I love having the vods posted. I am not at all on Asmon's schedule, so it's good to catch stuff later. I regularly pull up VODs of his of whatever game I am playing at the time. (Like WoW classic) and watch/listen while playing.

Asmon pulling *yet another* Sekiro/Wo Long lmao. "The bosses are garbage, The animations are bad and attacks are 1 frame and unreactable." Basically if a game won't let him just spam R1 or rely on cheese like Dual Halbardo jump attack then game bad. For reference, watch any gameplay of his from Final Fantasy 16 and you can see on the lower right "attack" icon that he just goes ham on the R1-adjacent button and hopes for the best. PROs of this strategy of his: - Very little learning required for each game and predictably bad game performance resulting in easy "mald" entertainer content. CONs: - Gets old when he never changes his strats for dozens of hours to the point of feeling scripted. - Bad takes due to being literally too clueless to be able to analyze the mechanics and possibly hurting the reception of the game because of his massive platform. FromSoft and Team Ninja will survive lol, but the Lies of P studio is new and those kinds of uninformed critiques by someone with a big following could affect the way the devs patch the game/work on future projects for the worse.

I’ll admit some of the bosses did absolutely seem fucking unfair, but calling it a bad game is just him crying about it because he’s pissed. It is a fucking excellent game that needs some balancing

There is no such thing as a Boss being 'unfair', because as long as you can react, memorize and counter every move the enemy/boss has to offer, it's all up to your individual skill and time u put into it. Lies of P doesn't have a single boss that has a move that isn't counterable in any way. All of the moves are either dodgeable, parryable, blockable, perfect blockable, or just dont even interact with it through smart positioning.

​@@BobbyJenkoDefine unfair. Because all of those attacks have reliable telegraphs and responses so idk what you could possibly mean. Parrying the charge attack from Swampy was insanely fun and satisfying for me and personally I think the timing is very forgiving.
