Virdi Purbakala Hollow Knight should be a must-play for any Dark Souls fan. It's a more faithful Souls game than pretty much any actual "soulslike" we've gotten up until now, without even really acting like it is one. I could see Asmon getting completely engrossed in this game if he gave it another session
Maybe chat wouldn't be spamming Witcher if asmon didn't hype it up for MONTHS, then played it for 2 streams and be done with it. Seriously, you can't be this ignorant, its the most beloved game of our decade, of course people will be upset.
This is one of the best games ever made and chat just acts like it’s garbage, lol. I get why, honestly, it’s a slower paced game until later once you kinda get a feel for the game, which is probably why speed runs are much more popular than normal gameplays of it, but playing it is super rewarding and it’s definitely the best game Asmon has played on stream before.
Chat wasn’t bad at all once he got into it. He just used that as an excuse cause he was getting embarrassed on stream. Dude sucks at every game he plays until he puts like 50 hours into it and becomes okay lol.
Really feels like he's gotten too big for his own good, in a way. I'm sure he's making a decent living out of his stream, so him giving up on the money and trading that with the ability to play whatever he enjoys isn't a very reasonable thing to ask. I just wish for him to reach a point where he can afford to not give a fuck about viewer count anymore, and just enjoy the games he likes with the viewers who are there to just chill in his stream and interact with him.
its not about money streamers veiwer count is so relative that one small break can really destroy your entire carrier if your not careful in how you announce it. Ofcourse streamer like asmon doesnt care about viewer counts and money he just doesnt want to enable hate in his twitch chat.
Chat when Asmongold is playing Hollow Knight: "viewer count droppping LUL" "shit game ripoff of dark souls" Chat when Asmongold decides to stop: "No what are you doing?! We like your stream!" "PepeHands I love this game though"
true but those are different group of people. the dumb ones and their average brain can't comprehend what Hollow Knight is about the fact that Hollow Knight is unique enough that most people can't appreciate it just makes it even better
Probably bc the ones enjoying it are watching the stream, like I typically do. Chat is the only reason I stick to vods. Listening to their backseating just ruins the stream
@@KingOfDepravity I never did finish that coliseum....hell i never even beat the final boss even though i could. but man, that coliseum. nearly broke my ps4 controller lol its kind of funny because i found the white palace kind of easy, where others thought it was the hardest part of the game.
@@BionicAir man, colosseum is nothing, if you play the godmaster, that's where the bullshit is. You have to literally fight every boss in the game with harder versions included, takes like an hour or so if i remember correctly, it includes the last boss as well. That shit is crazy
@@celestialcolosseum Yeah i figured if i couldnt beat the colosseum id have zero chance of doing godmaster. its kind of funny i didnt struggle very much in the game up to that Colosseum in the last few parts when you dont have a floor, and only 2 walls you have to constantly jump off of being swarmed by enemies, that was the end of it for me lol
i was happy beating the radiance. hardest boss i've ever beaten in a game. (never played dark souls though never liked the look of those games idk why)
@Lain no he is bad for 30 min strait he didn't know where to go and he biches , trash talks and scams in wow all the time he was definitely bad and you can say to you'r self that his chat is bad but then youtube comments are the worst
i just figured your chat was always like that. but when you put your foot down at the end i realized it must not be. definitely the right move on your part, although i really hope you keep playing the game on your own _or_ on stream. it's an amazing experience. -but like god dam chat won't let even the tiniest things go. like jesus y'all, it's a first time playthrough. there's more than one way it can play out-
Man chat doesn't seem to understand this idea of "Figuring things out." There are some things that aren't completely obvo where telling is fine, for instance informing him that talking to an npc multiple times will most of the time have new dialogue. To my knowledge that is never told in the game so some people who aren't used to that will only talk to an npc once and move on. However stuff like telling him that if he dies twice he will lose all of his geo. he is at a stage where geo isn't that important and losing a few hundred will not stop you from getting some decent progress. I could understand if he got to the fungal waste and when he got close or sat in the bench to it if he hasn't died say something like "There is a penalty for dieing and not collecting your shade before you die again." However when it gets to the point where chat is yelling at him to go back to the shop to go and buy something before you lose the geo..... how about you allow his brain to do some working chat? your not his brain and sometimes allowing people to think for themselves is good for them. I know it's a very hard thing to accept that seeing as how you feel like it's a moral obligation to inform people about literally everything you think is important.
I must admit as a Dark Souls fan it was tough at points watching him play the games. As someone who doesn’t give a shit about Witcher, it’s been hilarious watching all the crybabies in chat.
@@noxanneballadynasowacka6125 there is nothing "mechanically" hard in these games. It's not like you need to be a maniac to beat these games. Then there are people who do those 0 hits runs that's mechanically challenging atleast. It's all about perception and anticipation.
@@galax12370hollow knight is mechanically challenging. Especially in the late game. You’d think not but it’s actually quite difficult if you’ve played it
@@galax12370 the late game bosses are really hard and because upgrading your nail also increases enemy health you can't make a build that combines melee and spells (which i honestly think is a shit mechanic but i still really like the game nonetheless).
when silksong comes out, he should play it, then chat won't be able to help him and he'll probably get a lot of views because the game will be brand new.
I'm so sad this didn't work out. I have so enjoyed this vod. It was the most capable blend of gameplay and stream interaction I've seen for this game (and as a massive HK fan I've watched a LOT). Usually someone's gameplay and grasp of the subtly unfolding story suffers terribly with the distraction of streaming, but this was a really accomplished performance.
40:15 Username *BoboBaggins_22* said: "not fun game" I took the liberty of of looking at what kinda content he follows on twitch (also from his other connected social media platforms). Dude practically lives for Call of Duty, LOL, FIFA and other similar titles of sort. How stereotypical
@@ds3overer I'll tell you what's wrong with being a stereotypical basic bitch gamer who can't appreciate indie titles with far more quality content than whatever garbage modern AAA publishers put out. These gamers have been plaguing the video game industry for years, showing developers and publishers that if they made the same, unimaginative, monotonous game repackaged into a slightly different type of box they'd still make a king's fortune out of it. These *gamers* have pushed developers to fully integrate paid DLCs and micro transactions in their shitty games so they can charge people more so they're less shitty. COD and FIFA are the epitome of these games where we see literally no innovation and yet these mindless zombies flood the stores to buy these games, just like plebian movie watchers go and watch cheesy jumpscare riddled horror films and somehow enjoy them. So yeah, when a stereotypical *gamer* like that says an Indie masterpiece like Hollow Knight isn't *fun* without even watching 5 mins of it properly or trying it out himself (when there's 30+ hours worth of content in it), it stings a little bit because I know there are millions like him who have destroyed the high budget gaming industry. And if they seep into the indie game scene somehow, they'll ruin it too. Now, have I managed to explain it to you, or do I need to draw it on papers with a crayon?
Usually when i watch sb. play games that i played myelf and considered them "hard" i kinda enoy seeing ppl. struggle themselves. BUT this is no fun with such a toxic chats. This just makes me wanna see him excel every boss in the game at first try!
Well, Asmongold has to make up his mind with what he wants, and i really think variety streaming is the way to go, with a steady supply of WoW. I understand he is fed up with WoW, and thats the reason why he moved away. Well, "moved away". Kind of. First off, he shouldnt let others decide what to play. He should try several games offstream, decide if he likes those games and evaluate if those are good games for streaming. And maybe then, from a selected pool of games, let people decide what to play between 3 choices, for example. TW3 is not a good game for streaming, HK is not either. And those 2 games are stellar, dont get me wrong, but i do think those 2 games are a bit too slow for a stream. And i, for one, enjoyed seeing him playing HK, and i´d say he was having fun with it, but it is what it is. He can still stream those games if he has fun with them, but he has to asume the viewer count is going to go down during those streams. He has to decide if having fun with Hollow Knight a couple times per week makes up for the loss of viewers, maybe it does, maybe it doesnt. He could go ahead with the Bloodborne promise he made. Maybe other games like Darkest Dungeon, RE2 in a near future, maybe in spring when people stop playing it. Maybe dipping into a MOBA, or play PUBG in duo with McConnel (that would be awesome). Cuphead was a good choice too. In summer he can go back to WoW, and maybe stream Classic. He has got a lot of choices, but he has to start making those decisions by himself, and not letting chat decide his future.
Hollow knight is among my top 10 games of all time, it basically combines the best elements of side scrolling/metroidvania games, it has a wonderful soundtrack, a beautiful story and it has probably the best bosses from any 2D game ever made. I wish Asmon had finished it.
Asmon really needs a sub mode. He wants the viewer count, fine. But the chat isn't what it was a year and a half ago. Turn on sub mode and forget about the leeching Andys who just want to spam their garbage shitposts to infuriate the streamer
I didn't mind backseat gaming for Witcher and Dark Souls. But this game needs to experienced without advice. Chat needs to stop telling him what to do to progress, how to do it, and stop giving hints/advice.
It's fun to watch him play this, but watching an entire play through would be too painful. As soon as he sat down on the bench and said oh I only use soul for bosses. I feel like if he played this whole game he'd go through with only the compass.
this game has a lot of back tracking too that isnt blatantly obvious so that would make him quit real quick, and he tends to not want help from chat anymore too much
It's do frustrating to hear him complain about being lost and not knowing what to do. He's constantly asking questions, but barely glances at chat as they desperately try to answer him. Either play the game without help or bother to read the answers you're requesting, geez
"people really dont like this game",meanwhile,he just ignore everyone s attention to him,and say "i wont listen to you,i have my own way to play this game".Totally a disater streamer omg
What was that at the end? I know this vid is old but did I just see Asmon cave to dummies in chat? I’ve seen him play the worst games ever yet this is the game they were raging about?
Jesus Christ Asmongold's chat was toxic as fuck... Too bad that out of fear of losing viewercount he would stop doing what he clearly enjoyed... But I guess it's just how it looks like when you reached somewhat of a "top"...a golden cage (sry if bad English)
Chat can't tell a good game apart from a bad one even if it slapped them across the place. If they could have waited 20m till he gets to mantis Lords maybe they would have shut up for 20s
This makes me so fucking mad that he might quit playing this game I love it I have 112% on this game and he thinks it's not good. It makes me mad because it is a great game and all metroidvania games are slow at the beginning. But gradually get more upgrades abilities and upgrades to those abilities. There is also soooo much to explore in hollownest that it is freaking insane man.
Late response, but the dash master trinket resembles Sans Undertale. If you look at its face it looks like a skeleton due to its white color and black eye sockets, and the blue design on the left and right look like Sans’s signature sweater.
I dont know if chat didnt like it but in the end, it looks like asmond just gave up trying to play the game and proceeded to get hit countless times until he quit.
Back then asmon had just started htting 30k because of Dark Souls and a lot of people were telling him that he should start playing games besides wow, that they watched him only because of his personality. From what I recall, hollow knight was one of the first games, if not the only one, that Asmon played when first trying to stream other stuff. Turns out a lot of those guys were bitches, didn't show up, and asmon had like 4k avg viewers during the stream. People were talking shit in chat and a bunch of stuff and that's what led him to take his first break from streaming (the long ones we've had happen a couple times)
Its frustrating watching chat try and help him, like when he had the 1.4k and they said go and get more upgrades b4 u loose it, also he started listening to chat but pretending it was his own idea, Go to the shop, SHOP!, GO SHOP!, "hmmmm i think ill go to the shop" gets to the shop doesnt spend the money, then looses it shortly after, i mean if he wants to play with out help from chat he should just say that, but personally i think he should listen to chat more with games like this cos lets face it Asmongold is no Shroud he has zero to none mechanical skills, he's not really a gamer he's a wow addict theres a huge difference, he cant jump into an fps type game and rely on a good aim, he cant do anything high level in his game of choice without being carried by boosts to Glad (wouldnt suprise me if he paid cash or helped a smaller steamer get noticed) he rely's on his chat in wow to do raids and help him complete wow ach/items, he does fuck all in the raids having chat clear trash while he watches video for cash, he does terrible dps that would get him kicked from any other raid, he says he's gonna stream high key mythic dungeons was talking + 15-20 but i bet he gets really high ilvl viewers to help him run those high level mythics id actually like to see him DPS properly for once, but i get the feeling as we get older we can loose our attention span for things we game diffrently were not really pulling those 16-18 hour hardcore sessions like we did in our teens/20's. i feel like he's been spoiled in wow with help and its made him lazy, like the fat old king of wow streaming, that instead of leading his armies out into battle, he's getting drunk on wine, like Robert Baratheon from GoT. He's not out there grinding arena/RBG pushing high keys , he's not hungry enough cos he's lying back while chat feeds him grapes and wine, he's drunk on the power trip of being able to form a raid of 40 moonkins in 3 mins and a second 40 man raid of holy palladins to heal the moonkins, he's happy to send his armies out into raids while he sits back watching Bellular videos while his armies clear trash and do all the dps for him then hand over any items he may want. He's not hungry enough for WoW especially as the content is dire and not so fun so its hard for him to even play WoW without getting alot of help from viewers, i honestly think he has to step up his game with wow streaming, i mean cmon you can watch some seriously high level mythic gameplay with Josh, or high level gameplay and fantastic commentary from Preach, Asmongold doesnt really have anything to offer viewers without help from the viewers, yes he can run a transmog comp but it would be pretty shit without viewers and contestants and any way u dont have to dps or concentrate running a Tmog comp, thats why he's floundering with games looking for content as he doesnt really have any Asmongold content, its Asmongold and chat helping him make content. I feel he needs to step up his game bigtime or he will loose viewers, he needs to do a once a week 'show' with Mcool, doing some wow ingame content and doing something else like reaction videos, They should do 2v2 and grind rating without help from multi glad lvl boosters, and he should do 15-20 key mythics with normal chat members not ilvl 420 boosters, and if he's gonna play other games and not listen to chat thats ridiculous as he totally rely's on chat in Wow.
Witcher games play like Assassin's Creed games so Asmon hates that type of gameplay. He's more of a Linear player rather than an Algebraic player. He has no patience for puzzles or deductive reasoning of any kind. He should play the Southpark games that'd be hilarious starting with the Stick of Truth and ending with The Fractured but Whole.
If you seriously call this an Ori copy you are delusional. Sure they are both of the same genre. But this genre has been around for more than 30 years. More than can be said about most genres out there today. Platform games are some of the first games to ever hit the market. Also they are both vastly diffrent Ori is like *life* its filled with beautiful colours, music and surrondings while Hollow Knight is more like a description of *death* , its dark and gloomy and lack any sort of colours. The setting in general is pretty depressing. Its more of a subjective thing what enviroment you prefer. Gameplay wise hollow knight is way harder than ori but I think in my personal opinion ori is more fun. Because I prefer the setting.
@@cheese5081 Platforming and artstyle is reminiscent of Ori. Pacing, combat atmosphere and systems are Dark Souls straight up. I'd say it shares far more similarities with Ori 2 but HK is the older game.
@@tardwrangler Awww, man. I'm disappointed to hear you dismiss the premier speed running charity marathon. These people have put a ton of effort into creating an event that has raised millions of dollars for cancer research / doctors without borders. At the end of the Mega Turrican run, the runner actually cries as he dedicates the run to his Mother that died from cancer. The last gift she ever gave him before she passed away was a Genesis console and the game he just finished playing for the marathon. Sure, speed running / video games can be a self centred activity, but hard to say that in the context of a charity marathon. Peace
Not even close. "Oh hey, there are bossfights. So it's like DarkSouls". Not everything is DarkSouls. It's a platformer. Genre is called Metroidvania (Super Metroid + Castlevania), if you want to compare it.
i'm so glad he stopped playing this garbage...it was so painful to watch on stream. i hope he goes back to wow, and occasionally play some DS and souls-like games.
This is very similar to darksouls with the bench system just like there is bonfires and lamps in the souls series and a whole lot of other stuff to say to compare that I'm too tired to say right now but this game is not garbage you dumb shit. You have to actually experience the game first hand to actually understand and get a good grip on the games mechanics to decide whether YOU like it not someone else. You should go into a game blind to get the experience that team charry had in store for everyone to play it. Its a good game only 15$ and 3 free dlcs. Being the last one is a very big one. You have no idea how great this game can be until you actually play it peace.
idiot. hollow knight actually IS a souls-like game. the death mechanics are very similar, with you needing to return to where you died to get your souls/geo back
It is sad he played this during these years where he was reluctant to try new games that made him go below his average view count. I think he will go back to hollow knight eventually though probably this year before silk song eventually comes out and now that he is comfortable and doesn't care about view count he will get to really experience it.
