Guess you guys don’t get how hard that game is doing shit fast is saying something and practice meaning millions of attempts and failing it isn’t taken lightly
Asmongold’s buddy is that anime character who is always like “heh, you didn’t know about that [enter expository detail], did you?” while closing his eyes and adjusting his glasses.
@@ELBoomerTV welcome to speedrunning. If you dont like it train and beat the game faster than him without bug abuse and glitches :D still impressive to watch-
@@ELBoomerTV the literal premise of speedrunning is abusing the game to complete it as fast as you can? This was a any% speedrun so he could do anything he likes if you want no glitches watch a glitchless any%
@@ELBoomerTV Why the fuck would he get banned? He's glitching in a single player game! Unless he was glitching in online to kill other people, I don't see why or how he would get banned
What a based commentator. He truly understands how to say nothing and make it appear as if he has thoughts about everything. Of course, that would be illogical, but I love how he says words over and over. It is transformative, though and I can prove it. He took good, albeit, niche content and made it shit.
It is funny to watch someone who has apparently never seen a single speedrun in his life... A professional video game player who doesn't know what speedrunning is... Or is this an act?
@@inthefade It sounds like bad acting to me. I have little doubt this guy knows what speed running is (hell, RU-vid just about FORCES you to watch them if you have any video game related history). Most likely he's playing things up for an audience that may very well have no idea what speed running is.
@@Reelix I'd say it's genuine surprise. Honestly on a difficult and frustrating game Dark Souls is, seeing a speed run of the player doing things differently is sure to surpise others. As you can see, this speed runner is player a lot differently than a normal player.
Well if you play through the game as an average player racking up hours and hours of game time it's pretty surprising to see someone beat the game in 32 minutes. Asmon definitely overreacts sometimes, but I think he's being genuine here. Asmon might have been one of the worst Dark Souls players I've seen, so seeing an actual speedrunner obliterate the game should be surprising to him.
@@LocoMe4u dinner/supper is called tea hear in Australia as well, I asked why strarting a new game b4 tea matters u can pause the game and in dark souls case go to a non invariable area and wait or quit the game and come back after tea
The first time he does this is in relation to the speedrunner making himself human. Having humanity active on you increases your drop chance, which he needs to get the weapon he wants from the Black Knight. The second time he does this is in relation to the RTSR: the speedrunner needs the Red Tearstone Ring because it'll increase their damage output when their health is low. The RTSR is crucial for speedruns because you can intentionally take damage, get your health into the RTSR range, and then beat up the boss without taking any hits and doing significantly increased damage.
pretty much. At this point people play WoW out of habit assuming that is enjoyment because the actual feeling of joy is a long forgotten memory. Just look at the guy's reaction, he's genuinely confused at the guys happiness, it's like he's thinking "what is this emotion he's displaying?"
@@fifo2926 My God have you heard of this wonderful thing called a joke I know this must be a new experience for you but that doesn't give you the right to insult someone.
So as a summary, what I am gathering from the comments: Asmongolds reaction is so odd, because he didn't really know the concept of speedrunning as he has been living under a rock for the last 10 years only grinding WoW 24/7.
tbh i play most of this games people speedrun and im still amazed everysingle time a new wolrd record comes online to be watched....... and im not acting so i can get how he is so surprised (i cant even pull some of those tricks and ive being playing ds1 since launch) :v
Asmongold is a loser irl. He did not even clear original naxx like I did in vanilla. And he has way more hours played than me because I was smart enough to quit in MOP because Wow was quickly turning to trash by then.
@@MapleLeafAce actually dude honestly used to think Asmon was like that but the parts he isn't sarcastic he is serious. He has never done "an act" or shit for views he literally is just stuck in WoW. Basically he's your dad seeing you properly use settings on an Apple phone.
so how do you know this? "he has never done an act" are you god and are you able to see trough everybody's thoughts? you have to realise how dumb it sounds to say he has never acted, seeming as you have never met him lol. just take the start as an example, he obviously knows what a "speed run" implies yet he still says "he isn't killing the enemies"... this guy literally makes a living off pretending not to understand things
you really think 6:23 - 6:30 is his legitimate reaction to a guy walking in a video game? XD that's the face you make when you see a volcano erupting right next to you... or the face you make when your pretending to be amazed at something you don't really care about. but yeah "never done an act" XD
@@patrickimperial579 i watch his wow streams here and there but you can see that outside of wow he's not really the smartest one and certainly not the nicest type of a person
not impressive LOL, he gets to try over and over in 1hp run, 1 stamina just means he cant run, which is a time waste more than anything. not rolling at all, or no-hit is the hardest challenge. Hobos jr is nobody compared to the nohit runners
@@xd-ko9oo No-hit runs are not that impressive, wielding nothing and beating the game like that is impressive. In no-hit runs you can equip all the fucking shit you want as long as you know how to dodge in the game...

Schimml0rd when did I ever say beating dark souls was an accomplishment? I was just saying McConnell was joking when he said it could be easily beaten in 30 mins.
@@Unintelligentful he needs to break down every little thing like that, he's breaking it down for his chat, they're so thick they probably don't know what's going on lmao
No his friend is trying to put off some small air of superiority here because he makes minimum wage and Asmon makes like three times his annual wages in 1 month.
@jordan5221 when did u lose brain cells? McConnell doesn't even fucking stream or get anything from it. The people don't even know how he looks you moron
18:24 Yes, man. That's how speedruns are done, you are trying to match all top game knowledge + top of your performance + top RNG in the game, to make the Ultimate Speedrun happen. They have hundreds of tries.
Dark Souls isn't just amazing because of the games. Its amazing because of all the loremasters, challenge runners & memers on the internet. There is something so very satisfying about watching Asmongold fall down the same rabbit hole every other Dark Souls fan has.
True, I originally gave up on Dark souls when I first tried it(Went the wrong way at the beginning of DS1 and kept dying) then I started watching Lobos and other DS content and it got me back into it. And once I actually got into it I just couldn't put it down. The more I got into the game, the lore, the community, the speedrunning, etc... the more that I *Wanted* to get into it, it's like a self perpetuating cycle that never ends, and it's just such a fun game no matter how many hours I put into it. And I mean that for DS1, DS3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, and even DS2, they're all just such great games, and the community is great as well.
@@TheOnlyGhxst I gave up at Smough & Ornstein. Came back to it after playing Dark Souls 2 & finally understanding the game. Now its my fave in the series @Larri þyrnir Meeemeeeerrrsssssss
@@TheOnlyGhxst Years ago i played DS1 and kept dying at the Capra Demon, so i quit. It felt weird because it was the first game i couldn't beat even with the help of the internet. A long time later i started again, beat Capra Demon second try (:P) but kept dying to poison etc in some weird place a little bit later...and i quit again. But i guess after watching this now (although i got spoiled on the bosses now which i really wanted to avoid back then) i have to start again. Third time's the charm, right? :D Quick question: In both runs i preferred a quick Thief with Dagger and this stamina shield from the dragon at the beginning over a "tanky" character, but i kept reading that it's easier with heavy armor etc. What do you think? I liked it alot to be quick, dodge much etc
Id actually love to see you reacting to someone playing pacman. LIKE WAIT WHUT. WAT. HE JUST WENT IN FROM.. WAIT.. HE APPEARED ON THE OTHER SIDE? WHAT? IM SO CONFUSED
Other guy: the ring makes him do more damage for the less health he has. Asmon: HoW iS He dOiNG SO muCh daMAge Asmon 10 minutes later: wait is the ring doing the damage
everyone has a friend like mcconnell, aliens could come to the planet and explain to asmon how the universe was created, and he would be in the back like, "yup, you didnt know that?"
15:57 Asmongold picks nose. 15:59 Asmongold rolls up booger and prepares to toss it away. 16:00 Asmongold feels his rolled up booger and starts to have second thoughts. 16:00 Asmongold becomes too attached to his booger and realizes that it is a part of him. Nothing that is apart of yourself should go to waste. Throws booger in a jar and starts collection. Later in 2019, Asmongold will have enough boogers saved up to heat his house for a week. Asmongold has cured the cold.
18:25 hundreds? probably close to a thousand. streaming every day trying to beat the previous record.. Speedrunners are insane. and what you don't see in this video is the amount of preparation research and testing he has done. I reckon he's sat behind his PC with stats and a calculator figuring out the best percentage's of things like the stats to upgrade which weapon (halberd) and which enemies he needs to take damage from to get the maximum out of his tearstone ring. Speedrunners are amazing to look at, but once you consider the amount of time/research/testing it becomes a absolutly insane achievement.
7:09 someone in chat says "Whats the point in playing the game like this though? Who even gives a fuck about setting a world record in dark souls" and that's probably one of the most braindead comments i've ever read lmfao
Larsson “guys he doesn’t know that mechanic” or “don’t worry about that you don’t know how to parry” like ok maybe explain it or just shut up. really is annoying.
He probably has. But since he played this game and knows how hard it is, he just didn't think in how many ways you could skip stuff. I've seen many speedruns but i also did not think DS1 could be done this fast.
@Rusty Juul I had the same reaction when i saw my first zelda speed run. Oh wait when you saw your VERY FIRST Speedrun you was like " not impressed did that before i even played the game" right ?
People are all making fun of him for being so shocked at everything, but I imagine as a speedrunner, having someone be amazed and impressed by literally everything you do is fun and appreciated once in a while. It's certainly fun to watch.
Is so cringey this guy, so ridiculous to find this kind of videos... And find people who defend him like he's some kind of fuck buddy of him or whatever... Worst cringey
The twitch chat are seriously dumb, it's an Any% run so glitches and bugs are allowed. So deal with it. I also feel like Asmon doesn't really know what speedrunning is when he says "why is this guy just running past the enemies without killing them?"
@@samberghs6367 but... Maybe he had work to go to a few hours later, that's pretty sick! Reaction Guy: OMG, look at that yellow fire orb dude. Holy fck dude. And it feels hot and shiny. And it's in the sky? Wow dude!!! Other Guy: Yea you skip it. But that's the SUN.
The fact the Dark Souls legends flocked to his stream after was insane. All 3 of them just popped up as he watched their stuff and brought it all full circle. I only played Bloodborne but minus the beers here and there that are rare anyway. Outside looking in the DS community is pretty tight knit helpful and enthusiastic for sure. It's beautiful what they built.
