Man it's awesome to see your channel blow up. Been subbed for a long time and knew it was just a matter of time before your day would come. Keep it going man!
you are the best wow content creator, no joke! We need more, and when you created more, we will need another more. more more more! time stories also please.
Getting my flying mount was the first time I've bought gold in wow. That was a strange experience. I got called by some asian dude (it was loud in the background, he probably was in a chinese call center) who barely spoke english (I live in EU btw) and moments later a rogue walked up to me and handed me the gold.. I felt like I was buying crack from a shady dealer...
I lived in Beijing for two years and made some friends there. I got to visit a gold farming center just near the outside of the city, near Tsinghua University. It was a bunch of college-age kids in huge room with no A/C, 50 fans going, chain smoking cigarettes. Almost to a man they told me it was the best job they'd ever had. I'm not fucking with you.
I just love how in 1:20, a person with a character named Balsaxx spends a little bit of time getting his model in view of Asmongold's stream and proceeds to dance naked for the better part of half an hour.
That is my only goal in WOW cause I suck at MMO games and hate elitest punks so pretty much only like single player games and dont leave my moms basement much.
With how blizzard production pipeline works nowadays, it would take 14 days for it to get delivered to the heads of department. Assuming they would even read it once it got there.
Know what's really crazy, I played a druid in BC and druids didn't t have to pay for epic flying. All you had to do was a really hard solo quest chain for the epic bird form and it gave you epic flying for free
From my understanding, it was the same thing, the saronite bombs worked in wintergrasp because they did siege damage, and that siege damage was what caused the bug in ICC. The hotfix in wintergrasp only nerfed the damage numbers I think
I remember everyone back then buying gold... I also remember alot of those same people getting their accounts hacked and come to a guy with stripped gear and no gold
I remember that from Everquest. They fixed it to where you had to clear the ring in a set time but all 72 ppl could go in. I think we broke it into 24 in each and the 2 fastest zoned out and ran back in for the other 2. We were a top 10 guild and we just kind of laughed off this threat because at the time, no way in hell am I deleting something with 100's of days played.
17:52 So at this time I was super sick, and was just watching this video. But, when I saw that my sickness went away for that one moment, so I could laugh and have joy in this time of sickness.
That Diablo 3 part was hilarious because many legit owners of the game resorted to piracy to be able to play it due to the frustration of trying to connect to the Diablo servers lol.
6:30 5k gold in Burning Crusade was about $400. I know because during one jobless month where I needed to pay rent, I sold a random guildie his flying mount at below market (about $350 ish)
I got my bro his Epic Mount in August for his B-Day and it was around 300-350$ USD at that point, months into the expansion. Only took 16 hours straight of farming Herbs & Engin Gas Nodes with Epic Druid Flight Form. Druid Form didn't have a cast delay and mining slowed people down too much since you had to whack the node multiple times. It bogged the other farmers down in Outworld while I got the lion's share of the herbs and gas clouds.
So I just watched you reacting to Bellular and my feed started popping your reaction vids. Gotta say, your comments are making me laugh my ass off. Thanks dude. I know this is old, but I am glad you found your passion again. Best of luck to you my friend in the future.
For reference, the OSRS update team does a stream where they go over suggested updates and the majority of updates are responded to with "It would work if it weren't a stupid idea and we didn't already think of that"
I remember the 6 months of Wizard bug that if you hit all 4 abilities at once with archon being one of them, you stayed in archon forever and god mode. good D3 times of making RMAH monies gone.
I remember the, "the content isnt too hard because you can't beat it". Being as bad in that day as a "if you dont like it dont buy it". Lots of people were pissed I ended up the leader of my falling apart guild at the time.
Just want to mention... imagine they had used worldbuffs (lol imagine someone whiping that pull and everybody had to go get those buffs again) and do 1,5k dps in AQ 40 ... it was not mathematical impossible, but seriously nobody would kick half the raid for better people with better specs etc. atleast not 15 years ago.
the other possible "Evil" from not having RMA is the black market auction house where people get ripped off, have no recourse, and Blizzard doesn't profit.
honestly the gold farm in TBC was much easier than i had expected back then.. ok i was second on horde side that dinged level 70, so i had a pretty big head start on the rest of the server. but after about 4 months i had a flying mount on all 9 of my characters, even gave a few close friends their flying mounts too. fun fact. i couldnt get the epic ground mount in vanilla, and dinged 70 with a 60% ground mount still. but it just got easy at level 70..
Fairly certain the IRC channel shown at 14:34 was the old #fires seeing how Furor was a mod. Unless my PC was offline I was in the channel at the time and got to witness that convo. Old Furor was a cranky demigod of hate and anger and I'm so glad I got to see those rants.
Secret of mana?! Clutch ass game right there. They released the third one in a bundle on the Switch. It's great. 3 differemt main stories/char. Aiso, each char has 2 light/dark branches for their class.
Holy shit, I was there for all of that Goon Squad fuckery, amazing times... I remember hearthing to Org only to get Blizzarded by Jaina, and she was there just casting nukes for like a solid hour.
It's ironic how Ion has doomed himself to repeat history by delaying content since he was one of the original people who cried out at Blizzard for doing so.
I feel like I was fortunate with Diablo 3. I never really made it to the higher difficulties before Reaper of Souls and the other major updates like loot 2.0 came out, after which it has been like a whole different game. So I never really had this truly awful experience with it that many people speak of.
I personally enjoyed the challenge of Inferno. It wasn't a quick progression compared to the Diablo 3 of today where you can hit max level in a little over an hour when starting fresh on seasons, and gear starts pouring down on you. I was able to clear Inferno Diablo before they nerfed it and it felt incredible. It was not easy to say the least. The fight had to be played to near perfection as just about every attack was a one shot, or close to being a one shot on a squishy little Wizard. Shortly after that Wizards had their chain stunning Critical Mass build which was super fun to play after difficulty got nerfed but Monster Power levels were added.
Asmongold as game director sounds like a WoW I would actually want to play. Anyways, Ion doing the math that C'thun is unkillable...Imagine a GOD being Unkillable for a while by design instead of implementing time gated content. I was never much of a raider I was mainly into PvP but back when the game was good (before Activison and Ion) when I was in a raid it never mattered to me how many times we wiped it was fun just being there with my guild, learning the fights, and doing my part. "Fight Club wasn't about winning or losing and it wasn't about words after a fight nothing was solved but nothing mattered. after a fight we all felt saved" - Tyler Durden.
26:20 The real money auction house was actually good, but the whole item economy was not balanced around it's existence. Great idea, terrible implementation, and Blizzards "solution" of removing all trading was even worse.
How was Nosta, the infamous Nef ninja from the first Exordium Nef kill on Mal'Ganis? He was a classic. And Urthwyte on Mal'Ganis. And that ever so pesky EJ mage, Ishaxa.
There's a video of three characters jeebuz, jezus and satan... Being very interesting in a very crowded town center somewhere on the internet whic helped lead them into censorship with names and chat... I saw it back when and it was unforgettable
I'd say the gold inflation is a lot higher than 1.000%, because that's just a factor of 10. I think the actual factor is a lot higher, maybe as much as 1000, i.e. 1000g today = 1g vanilla.
