you know you can block right? interrupt their casts....break free from stun, dodge roll... and that ticking noise you keep hearing? is when ur spamming a stam ability with no stam. try using a magicka ability now and then??? maybe???
Imagine being a level 10 frost mage, only using frostbolt over and over, and complaining saying WoWs combat is awful based on your experience of casting frostbolt and only frostbolt over and over again at level 10.
He just don't want to admit that all the "issues" he lists at every game is in WoW too and when he gets called out for it he goes "BuT yOu SeE iN cLaSsIc WoW...".
This game is much better than wow and I played wow for almost 10 years... I loved wow but when trying eso, they addressed most of wow issues. Fights are much more complex, the double bar is insane and let’s you feel that your character is unique, being able to have any skill you want, there are infinite possibilities, the combat is realistic and mobs feel less stupid, you can dodge, defend and release yourself from enemy attacks. Wow is so arcade compared to this. The only real complaint I have is the lag and the lack of dedication from Zenimax to market the game and increase population.

Well you know you have alot of customization in WoW aswell, it's not like you have only one spell to pick, only one talent to pick. If you want to play in a higher level you obviously can't really do what you want in terms of customize your character. And Thats a "issue" every mmo game has, im not fine with calling it a issue, since its pretty normal. After all I dont really care which MMO is THE MMO, just not fine with people saying that this game is better than this because of they make it seem more skilled or whatever. ESO has many good things many bad things, aswell as WoW. And if you cant stop yourself from comparing WoW and ESO, then please compare it with retail and not classic. I don't care if this whole "debate" started with wow classic vs eso, fact is Classic is over 15years old. It was the best at its time, but obviously it isnt as complex and as good as any game out there right now, because duh devs never stop working on better and more creative ideas. doesn't know there are stamina / magica abilities. Doesn't morph his skills. Doesn't look at any tips. Light and heavy attacks everything. Doesn't use heals.... GAME COMBAT IS SHIT because no 'auto attack'
Tbh, the combat gets even worse when you start using your both weapons. Constant weapon swapping, ani cancel, weaving is just badly designed combat. It's not hard after you learn it, it is just unnecessary and bothersome.

I hope you didn’t quit trying to learn this game due to WoW classic coming out. It’s truly a great game. I feel like making a character off stream that no one can see would give you an opportunity to actually see it for what it is.

To be fair, you can review Path of Exile gameplay without getting to that point. What he's doing isn't that though. Its like someone just left tutorial and immediately considers himself a pro player - simply because he's played WoW, something he thinks is objectively better. You can tell hes not interested in investing his time on this game for long. Its just a stall for his stream before classic WoW kicks in. He's grasping for content to keep his audience before it releases - I mean, he bashes any game he plays or is suggested, and passive aggressively sucks WoW's dick while he does it. He would feign interest on playing something his chat told him to play, and then does a 180 almost immediately after. Because no matter what he says or does, he really just wants to play WoW and WoW alone.
Combat isn't slow or odd, he's spamming ONE damn skill. I mean come on! At level 9 he should have a full bar and passives in place already. WTH? Maybe before he passes judgement he should, oh I dunno, learn how to actually play this game?

You dumb fuck ESO fanboys clearly don't understand what "combat mechanics" means. How many abilities you can use is irrelevant. Combat mechanics still suck in this game, it's never gonna have 10% of depth that WOW has.
The amount of skills in the game is not "mechanics". It's how they are used and how they feel. The mechanics are very average in ESO. And that is fine as long as the rest of the game is good. Which it is. It is good. Very good in fact.
1. Endgame ESO content is extremely difficult, those who think ESO is easy are the same ones who jump into vet dungeons and wipe until they can find 3 people to carry them. 2. ESO is the opposite of dying, were picking up streamers from other games now. 3. Those of you helping Asmongold are doing him a disservice by giving him unearned experiences.
He still not using skills properly. I dont know is he doing it intentionally. Skills are split between magicka and stamina. You need to reserve enough stamina for dodgeroll or breakfree if enemny trying to crowcontrol you. Hes fighting looks like he still playing like he is level one character with no clue what to do.
Maybe he wants to see the reactions on the chat or increase the number of viewers, maybe he is not and is simply ignorant. It's just that in this way it is even more confirmed that the game is crap when it is different and starts to compete with WoW as equal and equal. The most important thing he does not like is fight. Dear Asmongold and all who simply do not know or do not want to know how the fight works. I assure you that the fight is more demanding both during the reaction and knowledge while using the given skills or defense mechanisms, instead of fighting in the arena in WoW - yes, I played WoW for 5 years. Good to see new players in game. But honestly this 50 guys following you all the time are ruining your game. You need to learn the basics from the game before clean all the map, where actually you don't do a thing. Soon you will try veteran dungeons arenas or trials, and in this areas you won't be carried all the time. The game is cool, but you are having a false sensation of success.

In the open PvP, ironically, players helped him. If they were not there, after 10 minutes of running, he would die from the first better player. After two such attempts, probably he will not do more PvP. Unfortunately, but I know these cases in person.
Even i figured out how to loot chests and weave. Its like test driving a car and saying it sucks because you only put it in neutral. He keeps saying the combat is bad, but he isn't doing any combat. Wow sucks too if your only using auto attack. How is having to aim, use 12 keys and all your mouse buttons shallow? I don't get the criticisms of the combat, I think its more dynamic personally. I really like that you can weapon swap and go back and forth, to me that is pretty exciting. I will say that some of the animations could be better, but some look really good too. If that is all that is wrong with combat I don't think its that bad.
you know how the combat works at level 10 that's hilarious. No offense but if you knew the combat you wouldn't be getting killed by overland enland quest enemies which are the easiest in the game you literally have like a 1% understanding of how combat works in this game. Also you don't like it cause you have to be in mele range to use a mele attack may just be the dumbest thing I have ever heard
Hydra Probably because he's still a low level player and sometimes that's just how it feels to beginner players since you're still learning so you're a bit slow at first. You should watch some high level gameplay because the combat is actually pretty smooth once you get the hang of it.
I've never seen such a defensive clown community before. If I had any thoughts of playing ESO the community killed it. Yes hes not playing it correctly (using 1 ability or just light/heavy attacking) but that doesn't mean you cant get a feel for the game, one guy used the example of a level 10 mage in wow just using frostbolt over and over again, yes you can get an idea of wow combat plays just from that, maybe not the full scope, but you can decide if a target based gcd based, floating numbers based, on and on and on and on forever based game is your style. Jesus you guys are trying so hard to convince others your game is good it makes me think you're really trying to convince yourselves lmao.

I just started ESO recently and honestly it depends on how you approach the game... certain classes feel more dynamic and are easier to learn mechanics with. And if you actually try and read, and experiment, you’ll have a better time. I find it quite more engaging, challenging and fun than WoW but that’s me. The combat isn’t for everyone which is a no brainer. And honestly you being so judgemental over people trying to not have others bandwagon hate their game is whack. Don’t base you trying out a game over TWITCH CHAT. If somebody ignorantly shat all over something you loved and wanted to have others join, you’d defend it - and try to help them have a fresh perspective. Like.. duh.
What he needs is someone to show him the real ropes and ways of the game, instead of going in to it all alone, assuming how things work, jumping to conclusions, when he's completely wrong. It would be really nice if he and Nixxiom, for example, could get in to a voice call together and Nixxiom could talk him through the things he encounters in the game, how the skill system works (with morph abilities for example), how the exploration works, questing, dungeons, PvP etc., while still having Asmon explore it all in his own pace. Right now he's expecting WoW "mechanics" and content, at level 10 with ~5 hours played, using 2 skills. Please, someone show him how the game works. For his own sake of enjoyment of the game.
Lol, guys, he was never going to like the game enough to start playing it regularly. He's not an idiot, he's been playing video games for twenty years, he knows what he's doing is stupid and not really trying. He's playing ESO to have something to do (to bring in donations) until he can play Classic (and bring in donations). His career has been built off playing one game and one game only. There is no switching for him. Some streamers can make the change easily enough and some can't, he apparently can't. Until the day comes where he actually can't continue his streaming career playing WoW, there will be no major changes.

Is ESO worth putting time into do you think? Genuine question. Looking for an MMO myself to get into but I dont wanna sink time into WoW if its dying. I never played WoW and know Asmond from those vids (he pops up in my recommended and hes funny asf somehow so I watch despite not playing WoW) I put a little time into OSRS also and have strong nostalgia for it too. Right now its coming down to ESO/WoW/OSRS

How tho? Theres no better feeling than hammering someone with a flawless dawn breaker and finishing them off. I like stamina builds in eso cos they feel more impactful, however magic is fun too.
He is horrible at it, so no wonder. Once he learns the reasons for light and heavy attacking, weaving and gets a couple of better skills and actually uses them, he might change his mind.

I play this and FFxiv and I have to agree with Asmon the combat is kinda boring, I know he only experienced a small bit of it but it just feels floaty and non impactful, some of the spell effects are ok I guess but not spectacular. FF14 is very slow at level 50 but once you get in to HW the combat becomes amazing with loads of OGCD moves to weave in and each job feels unique and to boot the blows feel weighty like I feel I am hitting something. Asmon would much prefer the combat of FF14 as it is closer to WoW but he won't ever give ff14 a proper chance lets be real
Because you have to grind a shit ton to get that far in FF14. I'm so tired of you fanboys trying to talk up the game, but you never mention how absolutely god awfully slow and boring A Realm Reborn is. And the combat in FF14 is slow and boring until level 50?!? Are you kidding me? At least ESO has you doing full bar rotations by level 15. Also leveling in FF14 is slow, everything being tied to the main quest is annoying...I got to level 30 after like 20 hours and said no thanks.

Asmon makes the same mistake that I did. When I skipped quests or only folowed them half, I found ESO incredibly boring after a few days, since the quests are uninteresting and tedious and annoying. So I quit, when I came back, I read everyline, even some of the things you can find to read and I finally understood the lore and the quests and what was all about. Now the quests are quite nice and I can immerse myself in this world.
I actually just started playing this game about the same time you did and I’m loving it. Looking forward to the new expansion so I can play the Necromancer.

OK a bit late, but calling the combat bad when its like 100 times better then wow, wow has the worst combat of all mmo:s its like 20 years out of date. Especially when he is just spamming heavy and light atacks and not even using his skills...

its funny how blind he is to the combat, take it from someone who played to level 30 (only like 8 hours of play time), eso's combat is very deep and i seen that from the start, the fact you cant auto lock someone and spam, you have to be always moving the fact blocking is so essential to master, as well as rolling, sure hes new n dosent understand all the hiddenish mechanics, but still hes entirely just played this like a beat em up, hes constantly comparing it to wow, but his rose tinted glasses dosent see hes playin eso like he plays wow, charge; spam; dont think; the complains bout how boring the combat is... k, but to each their own, i guess if you play every game like a mobile game your bound to stay in what youre comfortable with
Asmon doesn’t know 1 thing about eso combat, hence why he just spams wrecking blow and gets shit on. He doesn’t even have a second weapon yet to bar swap and is level 10 with low resources making resource management hard. Imo eso comabt is one of the best parts of the game, he just needs to 1v1 someone who knows the game and get shit on over and over till he realizes he knows nothing.
YES the combat drastically changes when you get higher level at @Asmongold Moments You really do need to have a conversation with someone who knows about the game. The difference in how you play the game at higher level is nothing at all compared to how you are playing at low level
And I dont mean just rotations, I mean skills, effects and everything else When you're low level just explore man. Get plenty of skill points and enjoy exploring the World, its massive and there are almost limitless possibilities in how you Play ESO.
no he doesnt he's literally brand new to the game all he needs is time to adjust and understand the game where he isnt spammed by spergs in chat that are mad that he isnt already the best player and where he isnt constantly followed around having everything one shot by his max level fans.
It's a shame none of these people swarming over you like ants on a sugar cube bothered to tell you to join the FIGHTER'S GUILD. One of the best melee ultimates comes from that line, as well as an AOE ability that protects you and fears enemies (think Consecration + Intimidating Shout), and a ranged attack that pulls enemies to you (obviously Deathgrip). Having played WoW for 16 years myself, ESO takes a lot of getting used to. I opted to use macros to weave my light and heavy attacks to my action bar slots. "Lt Atk -> Ability -> Hvy Atk (all anims canceling, except Hvy Atk)" So my mouse is for steering & interaction, only. It plays like WoW that way...maybe even better! But, I can certainly see why you'd say the stock combat feels off.
Someone should lend him a high level character on stream because I think you really need to just experience PvP and other high end level content for yourself to feel what the games really about. It could really change his mind
