The Participant: Alden Leisure Handsewn Shell Cordovan Loafer
This loafers are from a close friend of mine, he wanted them shine but as I started it, it was evident they also needed new soles. If you ever want to make a cobbler have a strange look on you ask them not to shine your shoes after a resole service.
The Process:
1. Insole disinfection.
2. Sole edge sanding
3. Welt shampooing.
4. Brush to remove dirt.
5. Renomat treatment to remove old creams and waxes.
6. Loose string burn.
7. Water to remove any remaining Renomat.
8. First pass of Renovator (3 in total not all shown)
9. Buff excess renovator.
10. Deer bone for cordovan rolls.
11. New flat bone (the hanger project) for cordovan rolls.
12. Brush to remove bone oil residue.
13. Cordovan cream neutral to avoid color the contrast stitching.
14. Cordovan cream for pigment.
15. Hard brush to try and push color in.
16. Cloth to remove excess cream.
17. Brush to commence shine.
18. Wax + water and cloth for mirror gloss.
19. Water + brush to deepen shine especially on areas not waxed.
20. Microfiber for fingertip removal.
