Rachel Ignotofsky has made a wonderful set of 100 postcards describing incredible women and their contributions to science, mathematics, and engineering. In this video I’m reading through a bunch of them with you while you drift off to sleep.

Oh I’m so glad you love it! I looked on my shelf and saw these cards and was immediately inspired. I’m thinking I’ll do videos like this every so often. Not sure if you saw the ones I did with element cards. Anyway, nice to see you again here!😃

@@ASMRChemistry @ASMRChemistry Hi miss/madam/professor I like your quality of mixing art and science to teach us such a wonderful yet complicated subject. I'm a high school chem and math enthusiast. I also love calligraphy too. I can do English, French and Arabic Calligraphy ! I loved chemistry since teenage yrs. Personally I've combined my mathematics And chemistry factual knowledge to make theoretical models and equations to model a reaction. When I then searched for the equation I designed online I found that they came true! Such as the Q10 equation relating temperature and relative rate of reaction. That's the moment I knew having a deep understanding of mathematics really opens many doors to so many aspects of chemistry. The equations that I thought would become tough became easy as pie as soon as I percieved the mathematics in it. Now I'm currently sitting on my table doing differential equations of college level chemistry on rates of reaction at HIGH SCHOOL!!! I really want those calligraphy videos! They're so beneficial! Keep em coming!

You asked in the video whether we prefer this type of video vs the written chemistry examples type of video, of course this is impossible to answer as they are all brilliant!! The first person who came to mind when I began watching this video was actually Lise Meitner, I hope she appears in the cards somewhere :) I'd personally love so see the rest of the cards in a future video. Since Marie Curie does have Curium named after her, I wonder why it didn't happen while she was alive... Perhaps she preferred not to have an element named after her at the time, who knows.

Ahh, what a great answer, and so much appreciated! I’ll continue to do a mix of different types! Yes - Lise Meitner is a fave of mine, too. I’m positive she’s in there… she’s gotta be! I’ll make another video for sure. And, good point about Curium! I suppose it was named after both her and her husband, but she is definitely the star of the show. I wonder if it’s documented somewhere how/why they named the two elements she discovered.
