You’ve officially convinced me to read A Gentleman in Moscow! I actually unhauled it a while ago but I will definitely be adding it back onto my TBR after hearing you talk about it. I really enjoy the concise and in depth way you talk about each book, I can really gauge whether I would enjoy the book based on what you’re saying. When you said Erin Morgernstern is really adept at writing to a certain aesthetic I was thinking “YES! That’s exactly it!” I loved The Night Circus for that reason, it was so atmospherically and whimsical. I would love to hear what you thought about the books you hauled❤
omg it’s been a while seen i’ve heard someone mention a great and terrible beauty!! i’m not really into historical romantasy anymore but i remember /devouring/ the trilogy as a young teen within a few days. i’m sure i’d feel differently about it now as an adult but it’ll always have a special place in my heart :’)
I admittedly remember very little about the plot, so I can’t vouch for how it has aged. I do remember staying up until sunrise finishing the series and being gobsmacked 😂 there’s nothing better than ravenously reading under the covers!

Your garden sounds beautiful!! Glad that Eileen is one of your faves, I think you’ll enjoy MYORAR. Also I liked the starless sea for the same reasons you did!! I think it had more complex ideas/themes than the night circus in terms of playing with the ideas of fate and such, but I still don’t know whether I’d rather visit the night circus or the starless sea as fantastical settings…! Love indie bookstores & indie used bookstores so much❤
I wish I could 😭 but unfortunately I had to move away from my garden 💔 luckily my parents live next door and they were able to harvest the last of my plants!!
Since you like short stories and are interested in modern russian history, I'm ready to bet that you'll like Turgenev's Memories of a Hunter (if you haven't read it already). The atmosphere he manages ti create it's incredible, I heartly recommend it!
