I tried this on my car the other day and it felt like nails on a blackboard. Then I realized I have an older car that's still made out of metal (thank god) so nail scratching and metal do not work well. That's actually one of the reasons I don't want a new car, because they're mostly plastic and do not hold up well in crashes. A guy ran a stop sign in front of me and his car looked totaled while mine just had a scuffed bumper. They fixed it in like 2 days and bam, good to go. His car was gone. 😂

I'm not a 100% sure but I think it's for safety reasons. Most cars these days are designed to take the hit in a way where the shock waves travel through the car with little resistance, making the hit not as centered towards the people in the seats. Something among those lines. I don't know what material is used though.

Actually the frame and subframe IS Made of metal in every car, plastic interior doesnt affect any rigidity of the body of the car and its very American style opinion :D Newer cars have modern metals which are stronger yet thinner and lighter in comparison to older rusted cars.

@@MrErrrust aha so that's what it is. They're so light and the sound from them always sounds and feels like plastic. I definitely prefer the older ones. Mine has a plastic interior but the outside is a nice, thick metal that really stands up against anything you throw at it. I love how durable it is. I had a similar car that held up perfectly fine when a 2017 jeep Cherokee smashed into me driving through parking spots when I had the right of way. His car was a mess and mine just had the light smashed. I loved how easy and cheap it was to fix. My insurance company during both accidents covered it for barely anything and my rates remained unaffected since it wasn't my fault. I imagine newer cars are way more of a hassle for them to pay for damages on.
