I always assumed that Croatia's shape was to spite Bosnia and deny them a sizeable coast line. The Ottoman connection is interesting.

It's not really true that Ottomans were stopped there, they conquered a lot further, even came to Vienna which is a known fact. But when Habsburg empire counterattacked and drove Ottomans from Serbia and Bosnia ( they almost collapsed the Ottomans in that war ), France decided to attack Austria and peace had to be settled. And it was settled on those borders because it was easy because of the rivers and mountains. What is also interesting, the little corridor where Bosnia meets the sea ( Neum ) was also made at that peace treaty. It was given to Ottomans to have a Adriatic port to ensue a lasting peace.

@@banjosipjelacic They never conquered up to Vienna they did put a siege on Vienna but never managed to conquer and hold those lands, Croatia was never fully conquered and Dalmatia was mostly under Venitian rule not Ottoman. For hundreds of years Croatian border region was Military (Krajina) Frontier - a buffer zone between Hasburg empire (later Autria Hungary) and Ottoman Empire. Neum (only Bosnian part of the coast) was given to Ottomans by Dubrovnik (Ragusa) Republic as they did not want to have direct border with Venetian Republic. It has nothing to do with peace with Ottomans.

I won’t deny anything she said in this video, and it may just be me, but Korčula, Hvar, and Brač all look like the largest islands. I could be completely wrong though, so don’t quote me

Croatia and Hungary actually lived togeother under the same Kings aprox 800 years, they fought against Türkish for they life, théy had Zrinyi, i big hero. And in this video just all this just one sentence... 🤔

The Communists didn't "liberate" Croatia in 1945. They invaded it. The Croatian people sought independence from the oppressive Yugoslav regime, which it what spawned the NDH (Independent State of Croatia). Although it didn't work out, the majority of Croats desired independence and sought to create a functional state by any means. The Communists did what they did all over Europe and murdered their way in control.
