In my language we use therapist and psychologist as different terms. A therapist is someone used to working with people (a caretaker, a nurse or a teacher) who decides to do a few years of part-time study to become a therapist. You usually go to them if you cannot afford a psycologist or your issues aren't that bad (they cost the half) A psycologist is what you'd consider a therapist. They require a university degree.

Depends on who is giving it. My mom says the exact same thing but then she has a tight grip on me and doesnt let me leave because she got her way into forcing me in a somewhat medical school so out of my siblings I have the most chance of being beneficial for her in the long run.
