For those wondering, the main the reason they brush the tools against the side of the face isn't just because it feels good. It is so that you're familiar with the sensation of the tools which helps keep you relaxed. This helps prevent you from jumping and jerking when they put them in your ear from an unexpected sensation when they change tools, which could hurt your ear and/or damage the tools. I had an ear cleaning when I went to Japan, and asked about it when they did it. It was a place very similar to how this one looks, with basically the same tool set. The only real difference is that they didn't do the thing with the tuning fork, and the wooden pick was slightly larger. Also, yes, it does feel surprisingly good to have this done. There were moments when it was slightly uncomfortable, but never painful. Overall it was very relaxing and felt good. I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time, as some earwax is actually good for your ears, but as a one time thing or every once and a great while it doesn't do any harm to get them cleaned. Also, do not "do this for your SO" or have them do it for you, and definitely don't try to do it to yourself. The people who work at these places know what they are doing and have been trained to do this. They know the anatomy of the ear and what areas they must take extreme care when working around. You can very easily damage your ear poking around in it with the kinds of tools they use and can easily cause hearing loss if something goes wrong. It can even cause balance issues and can lead to frequent nausea if you damage your inner ear. Even just a standard paper cotton swab can easily hurt your ear if you go poking too deep into it. It is indeed a risk even when having someone at one of these spas do it, but they do this multiple times nearly every day and are far, far less likely to damage someone's ear than you or anyone else who doesn't know what they are doing.
@@niemaszglowy That's a tuning fork. It vibrates and makes a chime sound when you knock it against something. They didn't do that where I went, but they rub it along the side of some of the tools to make them vibrate while in the ear. Probably just because it feels good, but I'm not sure if there's another reason aside from that.
Back when i was a kid, i used to dream for big and impossible things but now my dream is to have my ears cleaned in this place even tho i regularly clean my own ears!
@@hongryyy3303 i havent rly searched anything about the music about the music since i posted this comment, but listening closely it does sound to me like celtic/chinese/japanese music, im pretty much sure if you search for "relaxing chinese/japanese music" or something like that you will find a very good playlist or a long video with those!
For those who never have experienced ear cleaning. If you listen very carefully at 16.42 it is just quieter than the humming there is a slight swooshing sound. This is the first youtube video that i have watched to capture that sound that sound is exactly what it sounds like in you ears (albeit louder) when you have your ears cleaned.
I wish services like this were offered at salons here in the US. Here you have to do it yourself, or get your ears cleaned by a doctor and that tends to be expensive.
Just imagine before this, the doctor being like, “Ok, so could you only whisper throughout this? Oh, and we will be filming the entire appointment, if that’s ok.”
Not so much that they dont have them as much as they arent a mainstay for ear cleaning like in the US. But to answer you completely no bud I dont think that I KNOW THAT. I do have a number of friends that families are from rural china and they had no idea what q tips were so......
Will J Yeah... although it’s relaxing, I can’t help but feel like this isn’t healthy... we need some earwax and they can easily damage to eardrum from going too deep
And even more relaxing due to it being longer video as said on the other clip I wanna do one of these not for needing the help but for how relaxing this looks also love the cool thumb light there
