I know I'm late to the game, but when you asked for the right word in the comments, I think counterintuitive is the correct word for what we expect to happen and then it doesn't. So when you were saying if we focus too much on relaxing we'll tense up instead, that was the right word. Also could have been thinking of contradiction that would work too... Those were the only definitions that came to my half asleep brain lol
