@@jaydensalisbury1782 Nah he's right. Qualified barber here, so I'll throw in my two pennies. A straight razor should only ever move vertically on the skin. A correctly sharpened straight razor will cut the skin the moment you move sideways. The reason he's doing it is because the blade isn't sharp enough to slice through the hair shafts, so instead he's effectively sawing them. You can see this when he's shaving under the chin; he actually moves the blade vertically and it instantly snags. He's also sharpened it to within an inch of its life. The edge of the blade is no longer straight, it's curved. It's called a straight razor for a reason.

I sometimes use a straight razor at home. And it can give you a really clean shave if you do it right.
