I have no masochistic tendencies but I do have TMJ and have had a massage to help. I can't recommend it enough if you can find someone to do it. I regained full movement and my TMJ is so much better. It does hurt especially the roof of the mouth and near the TMJ.

People say tmj for short and to reference when they have a disorder of the tmj and the muscles around it. Some tmj disorder symptoms are difficult or painful chewing, clicking of the tmj with when chewing, inability to fully open the mouth, among others.

@@saraann221 Yes! Mine did as well. He also worked on my entire mouth and face because my other muscles had been compensating for my TMJ. Did yours not give you stretches to do afterwards to maintain results? Look them up the next time you get your TMJ stripped!

Timur, I agree about the intensity of facial massage work. When I underwent Rolfing a while ago the most sensitive areas for me were my face. Its all good when it's done though. Maria does very novel techniques and I was glad to see her do this.

I love this and couldn’t wait to be able to do it as part of my massage services, but in the U.S. right before I got my massage license, they made it illegal for massage therapist to work inside the mouth, unless working for a dentist. This is amazing work!

I had this done to me for several months. I had severe TMJ TMD and my jaw would hardly open without horrible pain. First few times they did what I could handle because it hurt so bad like they were trying to make it worse but stick through the pain because after 3 treatments it really helped save my life.
