This was excellent! Thought the layout was really impressive in all the events building up to the war, how it garnered so much opposition, how the US were humiliated, as well as some of the tactics deployed by the USA which was very interesting. A suggestion for another period of history to cover is The Iraq War, which was instigated mainly by George W Bush and Tony Blair for reasons revolved around 9/11, which resulted in the hanging of Saddam Hussein but was very controversial due to the massive civilian deaths, and more so in the UK as Blair lying over Saddam having WMD, which he didn't! A lot to cover from the US side as well, while it is more recent history, it still is also a fascinating topic!
i absolutely love this video. you’re amazingly knowledgeable, with a great personality and relaxing voice to boot. You definitely have a new subscriber. This is definitely one of the best videos i’ve seen on the vietnam war, apart from an actual solider in the war recounting his experiences.
i found your channel a couple days ago and i’m so happy i did! this kind of asmr is my favourite: the whole educational thing and you’re the best at it :) keep doing what you do best and i am definitely a big fan :))
I think it’s important to note the South Vietnam people HATED the North & the Viet Cong. It wasn’t just the USA fighting the north they were well supported by the Southern troops & South Korea, New Zealand to name a few. There is often a anti USA rhetoric with the Vietnam war but it’s important to keep an open mind and think of the South Vietnamese people. Anyway good video!
Yeah for sure! I did this video from the typical broad stance of the events of the war, you could arguably have a whole other video on the war from the perspective of the south Vietnamese!
Fun fact: Out of humiliation or for other reasons, the U.S didn't count Vietnam as a 'war'. As a result, some veterans couldn't collect their service reparations.
