That crispy thing is called Pappadam. Papad is a thin, crisp disc-shaped Indian food typically based on a seasoned dough made from black gram (urad flour), fried or cooked with dry heat. Flours made from other sources such as lentils, chickpeas, rice, or potato, can be used. In South India it is called Papadum. Biriyani+Raita+Pappadam+Pickle is the best combination. And I guess kizhi biriyani is wrapped in banana leaf, not in bamboo leaf.

And the wafer is appalam not pappadam which is kinda smaller than than appalam. Anyways, both are yummm....eat with rice or puttu or payasam or JLT.... 👌🏻

It's called "pappadam" in South india , it's a side dish served with biriyani or other rice dishes! U can eat pappadam mixed with the rice and curry together ☺️

We call those white crispy things a popadom in the UK 😅 we have them with dipping sauces like mint , chutney and onion salad 😊

Hi from Malaysia… we call that cracker papadam or appalam. I usually crush it and mix it with the rice to eat cause it’s quite salty but eat it whichever way you want. Some eat it as snack despite the saltiness. Happy eating!😊

I eat poppadoms plain with the mint yoghurt dipping sauce as the sweetness of the yoghurt counteracts any saltiness and tastes so good together.

Myself, from India and Chicken biriyani and Chicken butter masala with naan is my favourite ❤️ I would highly recommend it, if any of you haven't tried Indian food yet:) btw, that crunchy thing is called 'Pampad'😊

Parotta with beef or mutton curry. It's a very famous dish in tamilnadu especially Kerala (southern most states of India). Must try! Well, Paratha and parotta are to different stuffs do not get confused.

That white crisp is a papad. Try Bhaji pav, Dahi-puri, Dum-aloo, Baingan bharta (as you love brinjal), Gajar halwa (or any halwa), Shrikhand puri, Dhokla, Chhole- bhature, Dal-makhani, Vadapau, Kheer, Laddo.... These all are vegan dishes but sure you'll forgot nonveg! Just give it a try.... N many many more dishes are there!

The white cracker thing is called a "papad" pronounced as "paa pur" It's more of a snack than a side dish in pakistani cuisines.

The crispy fried stuff you had is called "pappadum" which is usually an accompaniment with rice in India, like you have prawn crackers as an accompaniment but pappadums are usually eaten alongside a rice preparation, in this case you mentioned biryani and it seems to me it's a south indian preparation of biryani, even the pappadum you're having is a south indian pappadum. You really seem to enjoy Indian food, so glad to see that, SAS!!!

I love that your eating indian food but plz don’t eat curry with Biryani 🙏🏻🙏🏻 because Biryani goes with Raita aka yoghurt so raita is made with yoghurt, garlic ginger paste, Green chilli past , chopped onions and if u want chopped carrot and cucumber and don’t forget salt If u want to eat biryani with a curry there is one very specific one which I don’t think you will be able to find it’s called bagare baengan/mirchi
