Fun fact about Zoroastrianism: It's nearly impossible to join the religion. You need to be born to Zoroastrian parents in order to be accepted into the church. However, there are factions of the religion that want to do away with this, the offical stance is no conversions. Which makes the fact the religion has survived so long even more impressive.
What that is such a wrong take? That is only with the Parsi sect of the religion in India but us Zoroastrians also have the Mazdayasna sect which is the main sect of the religion that the Sassanids followed and it allows for conversion
HELL YES! Thank you! As a Slavic person I still feel my linguistic connections to Iranian languages, after all we once shared the pontic steppe. Who knows, perhaps Slavs and Indo-Iranians are actually much closer than we currently believe. Wonderful video!
@@koikarp3490 yes, thank you, we know that, what I meant is that I still feel more connection to my brothers from the east rather than those from the west
@Nima Gorji the thing is, technically speaking there are no humans with fully pure blood of their "ancestors" cuz at this point we mixed so much it's ridoculous to think in terms of blood relation. We should focus more on spiritual and lingustic connection.
Also this might be mentioned that Persian was the official language in India before 1835. The people far to Mianmar borders were prety familiar with Persian language. If you needed to write a letter to officials or attended in a court, you would have write and talk Persian. After 1835 it was replaced by English. Thank you for your informative and enjoyable presentation🌹 Also I may suggest a topic that would receive a huge attention (tens of thousands views), and it is about an Ancient secret society in Iran, named "Magus council" or "Magus society" (انجمن مغان in Persian). Its history goes deep to more than 3000 years ago. They began with sorcery and holding rituals for Iran's ancient kings, after Islam they got coveret, supported fights against Islam and any other forces supposed existatial threat to Iran. The belief is that now they have turned to an elite secret society of merchants and scientist.
Great to learn different languages and history to my own. Thank you for all your content and presentation this year, and have a wonderful Xmas and New Year!
This channel is perfect for me. I'm very bad at relaxing and resting because when I do, I feel like I'm wasting time not learning anything or doing anything useful. But with your channel I can both relax and learn:)
Thank you so much, I'm very glad you enjoy it! But the brain needs its rest too, it's perfectly ok not to do anything regularly ;) And love your icon, Biene Maja 😍😍
Wow, Melange, you choose so many subjects to my liking recently :D This whole year I've been really into the game called Europa Universalis IV. It's a strategy game that takes place between the 15th and 19th century and you can play as any country that existed in that time period, across the map of the entire world. And whenever I pick a new country to play in this game, I like learning about its history and culture. One of the important aspects of the game is discovering and colonizing the New World and your video about the Spanish language was just about that. Another important thing in the game is the Holy Roman Empire and you made a video about the Habsburgs. Now, while Iranian languages might seem unrelated to all that, the last campaign I played was as Persia, so it's a topic I was researching a lot during the recent month or two. I hope I can learn even more from this video! :) And by the way, really nice nails colour you got there ;)
Thank you, love to hear that! Funnily enough I've never played it (though maybe I should?), but I do know the game because every once in a while I'll run into forums etc when I search for some historical infos lol, it's everyhwere.
@@MelangeASMR The game has a lot of complexity and depth, that's probably why there are so many discussions about it (for example, one of the things you can do as Persia is reviving the zoroastrian religion and spreading it across your country). This also means there's a high barrier of entry and a steep learning curve, but it's really fun and not that hard when you get the hang of it. I can definitely recommend it, if you feel like that's something you might enjoy. And like I said earlier, it's a great inspiration to expand my knowledge of history :)
The best part of my Wednesdays is new content from you! I hope you’ve been enjoying the season and have found some great goodies at the holiday markets. Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas, Katie! I can't believe how fast December is going, but yes, I've spent so much time at the Christmas markets, I've made up for the last years as well haha. I hope you're well and having a great time too 🎄
I love your work. I can watch your videos either as relaxing asmr sleep-inducers, or else as engaging and informative journeys through topics both known and unfamiliar. The soothing quality of your voice, the genuinely interesting content, and your obvious love of maps, history and languages is for me the perfect blend. Thank you :)
I'm really impressed about your language knowledge and I was wondering if all these books are yours? It's so interesting to learn and relaxing every time when I watch your videos. Herzlichen Dank!🤗
Thank you, Ineke, that's really sweet 💖 Most of the books are mine, but I fear that I might start to become a bit annoying when I visit other people because I always go through their book shelves 😅
Vielen Dank! As an idea for another video, maybe you could make one with the Germanic tribes and their early medieval migration (die Völkerwanderung)? It makes for an interesting map, and you can compare it with today's dialects like Schwäbisch, Alemannisch and so on, that you have already explored and shown us.
Thank you very much! I didn't expect that you would make a video about Iranian languages so soon and quickly! I watched and listened with great pleasure. You have a wonderful relaxing voice and good erudition. For my part, there are wishes about something. Do something about the countries of Central Asia. It will be very interesting. Good luck and all the best!
18:48 and also relative to deutsch(as far as I know Deutsch is like a parent to English , Old English was originated from Old German) I thought you would mention it as your are Austrian the closest sentence I think is Mein Name Ist ... which in persian its Name Man Ast ... I think its quite same which was facinating when I heard it while I was learning Deutsch . Thank you BTW for your Information I learned stuff Although Im Iranian pls do more videos About Iran Mamnoon Or Danke 😆😉 🇦🇹🇩🇪💚🤍❤️🦁☀️👑
Hi, thanks for the suggestion! I'll keep it in mind when it fits in with something else, but I'm not as comfortable talking about individual people, so a full video on Atatürk is unlikely.
I'm very tempted to dig out my old course book as well, but alas so many languages so little time. But learning a song is a great idea! Maybe I can do that 😍 Are you thinking of a particular one?
@@MelangeASMR I don't know any of the songs, which is my disadvantage. I have a translation of "Where Have All the Flowers Gone." I might try that one. Be well.
Hey Daniela, Bulgarian is currently not on my list, but I have done a video on the country: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9JCAvJDNyE0.html And also a general one the Slavic family, if you haven't already seen it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--ztMVkU2A3M.html
