Those wicks started out too long. Candles work because the heat from the flame liquifies the wax, which is then drawn up the wick and burned, generating more heat, and liquifying more wax to repeat the procedure. By lighting the wicks so far from the wax, the heat wasn't strong enough BELOW the flame (heat rises, remember) to melt the cold wax enough to wick it back up again. Just in case you were wondering.
No that’s incorrect, the flames heat melts the wax which releases the flammable gas that keeps the wick aflame it can’t draw the wax up the wick there’s no way for that to work….. if your curious about the chemistry specifics the heat releases and decomposes carbon dioxide and hydrogen from the melted wax which burns (combusts) and creates an exothermic heat releasing reaction which also fun fact produces water molecules as well
This is a lovely idea with amazing sounds! The fire did not stay because the wooden wicks were too long in the beginning. Cut the wicks shorter (1/4 of an inch) if you want the flames to last longer.
hi again, tis i the timestamp bastard. ===BEGIN TIMESTAMPS=== 00:00 we begin with a singular lighting of a wick. crackle pop 00:31 okay now we light more wicks 02:18 closer to the mic now, lighting more wicks 03:02 all wicks are lit! 03:33 sound warning! small explosion as match is lit from wick 04:18 the butt of the match is lit 06:12 another one 08:20 change of camera angle 09:30 another butt lit 10:53 more crackle ===END TIMESTAMPS=== cackled at the caption. i think you did fine, just that the wicks were too high at the start. thanks for the video! this is one of my favorite sounds. pair this with some christmas jazz and you're in for a relaxing night. ps: i sincerely hope you did this in a ventilated space and/or wore a mask bc that's a ton of smoke.
Tiny insipred me to do asmr, theyre so creative I love their vids ♡ idk how you did this with ur mic but bless ur heart for doing the unthinkable in the asmr community, someone had to do it♡♡ rip mic
Surprised there's not a single person commenting about fire safety or that he used too many wicks. Also I cant even explain why his wicks kept going out, asmr was just too strong i guess????
I would guess its the lack of confinement with the melted wax, which is sucked into the wick, and up to the flame, then thats what fuels the fire, rather than the wood itself being the (main) fuel source. i think its called capillary action? atleast i know thats how the old kero candles worked from my fathers explanation years ago, damn physics teachers ;)
