I wanted to make another page turning video to help you find stillness and relaxation. The world can be loud and overwhelming, whereas the universe inside this video is calm and serene. Drama cannot penetrate it. Page turning sounds are all you'll hear.
Let's pick the perfect book for this: a 1950s literary almanac that has charmingly yellowed, matte pages. How's that sound? Tempting? Good! Make yourself comfortable, grab a warm drink and let's kick back together. 💤
The literary almanac in my hands, presents excerpts of literary works by authors from the province of Eastern Flanders (Belgium). I discovered it in the thrift store.
Some excerpts are taken from theatre plays, others from poems or literary journals. Interestingly, many authors had professions totally unrelated to the literary field. I decided to list these in the video, to give you something to read in English while listening to the soft page turning sounds.
If there is page squeezing in this video, it's minimal and unintentional.

Hi Kat! 🤗 Nice sounds in this video. I love how old paper sounds, it's really nice and relaxing. One thing I've noticed is that almost every author's name has "de" in the middle. Does that translate to "the" in English? Also, thanks for the English text regarding the professions of the authors. It's really interesting that almost none are professional writers. Oh, I see a cute little penguin! (and a cute owl too of course 🙂). Speaking of, do you like my summer profile pic? Little known fact: Did you know that a penguin's favorite food is NOT fish but actually ice cream? In fact, an ice cream shop is a penguin's natural habitat! (ok, that's not true, but I wish it were 🙂) Take care! ❤💜💙

Many surnames starting with "de" in Dutch, denote a profession, for example "De Bakker" (= The Baker) or "De Molenaer" (= The Miller) or "De Boer" (= The Farmer).
