I think it totally depends on what you're reading. The key to not getting distracted is finding a book that you absolutely cannot tear yourself away from. I'm a total mood reader so I have to be in the mood for the genre I'm reading. To keep myself more engaged I like to annotate- put tabs in and make notes and stuff. I keep track of words that I don't know and look up the definitions and that's something that keeps me more engaged as well!
