The purple/pink file is a buffer. Buff the whole entire nail with it after filing. Makes them super smooth. Gets out any bumps or ridges.

I really like Hempz lotion, personally. I tend not to be a big lotion person, either, because I also don't like the greasy feeling of it, and Hempz is the only brand I've used that doesn't pill and doesn't make me feel greasy. I also find that hand creams are good for my dry hands because they help moisturize and heal my cracking skin without making my hands all greasy and disgusting. Hempz lotion does the same!
