I eat papaya salad almost every other day, it's called Som tum. It's made with papaya that isn't ripe yet so it is crunchy and doesn't have much flavor on it's own. My mom is from thailand, it's one of my favorite dishes. We make it by crushing up garlic and thai chilis in a mortar and pestle. Then we add shredded papaya along with tomatoes, lime juice, fish sauce and a little sugar. Some versions have tamarind, dried shrimp or peanuts. Traditionally a finger food, delicious with sticky rice, veggies & whatever meat you like. My fav!!!
