The reason there are 2 of each and a bag is that a child has to find the matching tactile square in the bag just by feel. They can't look in the bag, just put their hand in and feel around, hopefully pulling out the correct matching square. The skill of identifying objects solely by touch is called stereognosis. An example would be trying to find something in your purse in a dark movie theatre.

I always have stuff in my pockets (whether it’s my side pockets on my jacket or a hidden one inside), and I’ve memorized the touch of every object I put in there. I have gorilla glue, anime pins, chapsticks, a rubber green snake I named Guacamole, a glue stick, a bunch of post-its I got in Japan, one time I even put an anime movie DVD in my pocket, I have coins, the smallest bottle of Vaseline I could find, pencils, kazoos, uno cards, a Japanese temple wishing card I bought, a Japanese wishing doll (the one where you fill in one eye when you make your wish, and the other when it comes true), a small toy of the Yuri on Ice dog Makkachin, batteries I stole from stage crew, etc. I’ll just dig through my pockets when I try to find something and pull it out, usually, first try. It’s wonderful lmao

The box of scraps is especially meant for special needs children so that they can learn/experience/get used to different textures and also practice their tactile/grip skills! If you ever find that you want to get rid of the scraps, maybe donate it to a local elementary school that has a special needs program or classroom!

I'm gonna buy one now my brothers 5 and has a hard time with his fine motor skills and cognitive development. I also due child care and development in 4h Wich needs things like this. I also babysit and kids love this excpecaly when I volunteer for family's who have kids with no school because of corona. Not just for kids, btw. I have autism and certain textures stress me out but having simple textures like those generally calm me down. So not just elementary or something, there's a lot of therapists who could use it for their patients as well.

I always feel safe with Gibi. Not even just in her ASMR but her presence as a whole.
