The first deck really hit me… I’m currently working on my writing & I got the opportunity to work with one of my profs next year for a thesis. I’ve also just been feeling more connected with my friends recently & letting myself try new opportunities since it’s a new year so I wanted to use it to “start fresh”. I picked the first deck and it really resonated with me. I’ve always been really individualistic and goal oriented. I’m about to finish college in a few months and I’ve spent the last few years being entirely consumed by school and planning my career. Relationships have never been a big priority for me, but through what feels like total luck and happenstance I’ve found myself in a really loving, committed, and fulfilling relationship over the past two years. My current career plan would involve me moving (far) away in the fall from my partner but also a lot of my family. Earlier in our relationship I assumed we’d just break up when I moved away, but lately that’s been feeling really wrong to me, and my partner is completely committed to making us work (pretty much no matter what). The reading made me realize maybe I’m resisting the shift in my priorities and desire to cultivate connection so I can keep single-mindedly focusing on my career, but maybe I should listen to that feeling and see if I can make some compromises (for the near future anyways). Dang- I picked deck three and that legit sounds like me, literally all the cards did- Also I'd like advice (from anyone). How do I let myself let go from my fears of getting myself or others hurt when loving them (if that makes sense)? Allow me to explain, I'm afraid of getting hurt due to past toxic friendships/people so I haven't been able to open up but I'm also afraid of hurting others by accident because it's hard for me to open up and communicate with those around me, sometimes I feel as if I accidentally ghost people due to the fear of opening up and because of some other personal problems I'll keep private for my privacy.
If you find the right person they will give you the time to open up and to feel comfortable with them. Try to not avoid people because of hurt from the past. It’s not love what hurt you, it was the person. If you meet someone else you have to be able to start again and try to not let the past define your life right now. Try talking with the person about what happened in the past so that they can understand what triggers you and what hurts you. It’s normal to need and take time to heal but you have to be careful you don’t isolate yourself from potential partners. You also have to learn that a break up can always happen but that it is a part of the journey you have with that person. You learn things from it and loving someone is never a waste :)
Shut up!! Picked the first reading - me and my fiance have been really focused on growing together to be strong partners - we’re getting married in May (always a HUGE and therefore slightly nervewracking endeavor) and he’s a doctor who is encouraging me to really follow my passion for writing. After he wraps up his fellowship we’re on the same page about settling down somewhere to start a family and be really committed to a community 💖
