Mary, i'm a teacher and when parents like you go above and beyond to provide for my students it makes such a huge difference to us, but we can also tell it affects your kid's perspective on their own education. When parents invest and show that school is a (monetary) priority to them kids make it more of a priority for themselves. Thank you for being a great partner to your teachers and setting your kids up to love school. It makes our jobs so much more fun :)
Literally NOBODY is going to mention the AMAZING asmr? Like literally everyone is talking about "it's a shame they cut school budgets" "I don't bring anything to school" "you have to pay for your supplies in America?!" Like I get it it's sad but I'm here for the asmr 😂😂😂
80sClarabelleClassics lol I can’t believe people *dont* pay for their school supplies. They don’t supply us ANYTHING we need to buy everything (other then the books and dictionaries)
I know I’m digging the asmr, and totally agree lol teachers just got there pay bumped UP about 5000$ a year, and make like 45-50k for working 9 months out of the year but can’t buy a box of pencils and some paper? Lol.
My sister doesn't know this but I already have the school supplies list for her daughter (my niece) and I'm planning to go and buy everything she needs tomorrow lol. It would be one less thing she has to do.
Wow I didn't realise that in America you had to send in supplies. I work in a primary school and the children don't have to provide anything here in England. All supplies are bought by the school. In secondary school children take their own stationary to use but never cleaning supplies.
Vix Walsh you dont have to send in supplies. most of the teachers have to buy them, so some parents buy for the teachers since it is very expensive for one teacher to buy.
Vix Walsh where I'm from (texas) you just buy everything you need for yourself. Sometimes you bring in kleenex or paper towels for the school but the parents pay for their own children's stuff.
fuxkingshxt m I thanks - just surprised a teacher has to buy stuff for the class. Here if we need something ,and it's not already in the stock cupboard ,we write it in the order book and it arrives the next week . Paint ,pencils, glue, scissors anything. The cleaning supplies are ordered by the cleaners . Just the different ways different countries do things lol.
Vincent Nathaniel Oliver -thanks . I realise that we are fortunate here and just order whatever is needed for ourselves or the class. Although if parents had to buy the supplies for their children the children may not be as wasteful with the things in the classroom. Different ways of doing budgets in different countries .😄
50%Laughter 50%CryingOfLaughter this was literally me at school, they used to do a weekly supply check and I was always outside somebody's office during my lunch break because I never had anything with me 😂
Remember elementary and middle school when I would spend like $200 on school supplies. Now I find pencils and pens in the house and buy a notebook and paper😂
Morgan Trial If you like how she says "supplies ", you should hear her say "lobster claw clasp ".... It's ahhhmazing! She says it a lot in her jewelry vids 😁
I sometimes feel like schools are so extra when it comes to school supplies, Half of the time we don't use any of the supplies listed. I get pretty shocked when people say that they wasted more than 100$ on school supplies. All you really need is a binder, paper and pencils😂
thats true. I'm currently in my sophomore year and I stopped following school supply lists years ago. I just use the things I find useful, such as notebooks, binders, loose leaf paper, pens, pencils, etc. It's a lot more helpful than what they "recommend"
I didn't realize how different schooling was in different countries.. in Australia you buy your own school supplies and bring in your own lunch or buy something at the canteen. Teachers buy their own supplies and some things like chalkboard chalks are bought by the school. The only things you are required to buy is your textbooks and scientific calculator in Highschool....
MissMadHatterSammiie that's how it is in my district! But each supply list is different in each state sadly, heck, it's different for each district! It's quite distressing (I currently live in the United States btw)
In the uk we buy all our stationary: pens, pencils, rulers, highlighters, portractors, calculator, planner, rubbers, sharpener, post it's and margin markers.
School supplies are kinda a pain even if they're really satisfying to buy. Like I never used half the stuff they put on the list. I got by most of high school with folders, notebooks, a few pens, and a TI-84.
I was totally dumbfounded by this video.. Just completely still and listened. Couldn't move. I usually don't listen to whispers on the tv as the effect isn't the same as headphones, but your whispering is so clear and your p's and t's are so powerful. I love it! Best whisper video yet. Now, let's see if I can clear my head enough to pick up my son... *duuuuuh...*
I was napping from the school supply list video and then I got this alert and I had to come check this out. I should be doing laundry but I'm watching ASMR and day napping.
Just wanted to say that I really like the lighting and background you have in this video! And your nails look really pretty too :) OK, wanted to make sure I got that said before I pass out, haha. Your whisper videos are my favorite! Thanks for doing this!
I remember in middle school they made is mandatory to have a protractor and loads of report covers. Long story short, we never used them! Once high school started for me, there was never any list of supplies we needed to buy. We always just purchased what we thought we needed. ah well! :)
Thank you for thinking about the teachers! At my school we have to buy all classroom supplies ourselves and that is quite expensive for 100+ students. It's very refreshing to see a parent think about the teachers.
I'm dealing with the lingering effects of PTSD. Anything that helps me achieve natural sleep is like gold in my pocket. Your videos are really helpful. Nice, gentle whispering of everyday family life. It's very calming to a jittery mind. Thank you for your work. Always puts me to sleep.
I love how incredibly generous you are! ❤️ I know some families can't afford to send in supplies, and it's terrible that teachers have to fill that gap.
My kids are young and this is my first yr for school supplies shopping from a list from school. I didn't think I needed to hurry and grab stuff . But today we went to Target just to hang out and the back to school section was already a mad house! Needless to say I got sucked into the crazy this morning. So funny that you posted this today.
Mary, you're truly a gem! Thank you for all of your efforts in putting these videos together. I've been watching your whisper videos religiously for over a year now, and I finally wanted to say thank you after seeing all of the negativity on this thread. Your videos are so special to me and many others! P.S. When I was a kid and had composition notebooks/folders with those ugly labels on the front, I would cover them with a little piece of colored paper and get creative adding my name, the subject, fun drawings, stickers, etc. in its place. Makes the folder a little personalized too!
This stuff is for the classroom. Schools do not provide these things and it is normally up to the teacher to buy this stuff and it gets expensive very fast! The items are for community use.
Diann W where I'm from (texas) you just buy everything you need for yourself. Sometimes you bring in kleenex or paper towels for the school but the parents pay for their own children's stuff.
Wet wipes, hand sanitizer, ziploc bags, ........ We don't had to have all these things here in France when we went to school O.O Well, I'm not at primary school anymore (I'm in my 5th year of college ^^) but it seems like a lot of stuff to bring at school :/
Kévin Barreau We didn't have those things when I was in elementary school back in the early 80s. All we had to bring was maybe a couple notebooks and a pencil.
love your nail colour in this 😭😍 looks so beautiful. i have 3 asmr videos from you that i've been looking forward to watch all day but now i finally get to watch them to fall asleep to. im going to have a good sleep tonight now
I remember I had to have a scientific calculator for high school. I held two garage sales myself to earn the money. It was $200 and I could only raise $85. My dad paid for the rest. I remember my dad told me he had one of the first calculators, and it was over $500. Crazy how the price of electronics has changed.
I've been watching ur videos for over a year now and you are definitely one of my favorites and my daughters as well! Love the whispered videos ❤. Thank you so much for all the relaxing videos.
On the Primary school I work in the Netherlands we don't have busses but still parents need to pay 600 euros a schoolyear per child to only sit in the class and get drinks at 12 a.m. (Not all schools are like this, it depense on how many money you have. Sorry for bad English).
They always made us buy way more than we needed in grade school and even middle school. They would say we needed like 7 notebooks and 2 binders and a pencil bag etc. but we would only end up using like 2 notebooks and 2 pens the entire year.
I never follow the school supply list, I’m very particular and picky about stuff for school. I just buy binders of all the same color for all of my classes. I buy a huge amount of mechanical pencils and colored pens and notebooks of all the same color for the binders and I buy a pencil bag. School supply lists (at least where I’m from) are just full of things you’ll never need.
Watching this during the Covid19 Pandemic, when I saw the giant bottles of hand sanitizer my jaw dropped, might as well been a duffle bag of diamonds lol ugh the worlds crazy!
I 💖 your ASMR . Sometimes I have a test or something really important the next morning and I'm still awake at 3AM 😣 So I watch ASMR and out of all the ASMR you tubers you make the me Sleepiest ✨
I remember getting Trapper Keepers, full of notebook paper and Folders and since it was the 80s and early 90s we had kinda wild colors and stuff. I stored everything I needed in that trapper keeper ,including Candy I ate in class, lol. Later we would bring backpacks with walkmans in it and get bored and listen to comedy tapes in class with my friends. Great video ,very interesting:)
I can't speak for all of the United States, but in my school experience, there is usually a provided list that consists mostly of personal supplies that you keep (i.e. pencils, paper, etc.) as well as a few classroom essentials that you turn in to your teacher for communal use throughout the year (paper towels, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, etc.). Hopefully that clears it up! :)
Emzibar 221 in most schools, they have lockers, so they don’t have to take everything home, which I was surprised when i moved to see that everybody was using locker in elementary schools.
SouthernASMR Sounds That is true, but where I live most parents simply can't afford supplies. Most schools are Title 1 and students often don't have coats for winter.
I am going to be a teacher and I am saving because I know teachers have to provide supplies for the class. I cannot thank you enough for helping out like you do!
This isn't just the case in the US, in the Netherlands we have to buy all our own supplies as well. Last year a teacher yelled at me for using a piece of school paper.
This reminded me of something. When I was in elementary school I had gotten everything in my list. The teacher was doing something similar to a materials check. When she go to me I remember pulling everything out of my bag and her TAKING them away from me. She took my pencil box, my crayons, and my notebooks along with a couple of other things! I remember not knowing what exactly she was doing but just letting her since she was the teacher. Time skip a bit forward I was cleaning my room and I found the supplies list. Turns out it wasn't a school official list. It was one made by the teacher herself. Basically she would make the students buy the things needed and take them. Take in mind this was in 1st grade, so she was taking advantage of the fact we were young. Its a memory that I dislike 😕
what?! even notebooks? what would she do with them? perhaps it was that some children would get all the items on the list, and some wouldn't and she would then distribute them equally. but that's shady and so mean to take a child's things from them
I'm trying so hard not to fall asleep because I wanna watch it all but it's 12:08am and I'm lying in bed😂 wish me luck. Edit: I did it! YAY lol.. great video! 😊
Love this video! I just discovered your channel and I love it. Your voice is great. I have a severe anxiety disorder and your videos are perfect for watching whilst my meds kick in at night and I'm soooo thankful for them!
I am so glad someone else agrees crayola is one of the superior brands I actually have a professional art kit that was like 180$ and while it did have more included (water colors, paints, more colors) the quality more specifically the opacity is much stronger with crayola ironic considering the pro ones were for canvas and the crayola are for paper. Side not Why didn't you just save their things from the previous school year unless they were to battered from being used so much. I've had some of my school supplies since the day they were bought and still have some of them.
Love love loovvveeee this video!! Thank you so much Mary!! ❤ just in time for bed! Do you have any roleplays coming out soon? I like listening to those when im editing to keep me relaxed, i think ive watched all the others :) youre the best :) x
Also I work at a drug store and we've had tons of people buying school supplies. It's crazy all the crap people are required to buy nowadays! When I was in school, we were never asked to bring in wipes. Sometimes if we wanted extra credit for a class we could bring in wipes or kleenexes or something like that. Super glad I'm done with all that lol
What grades are your kids in this year, I'm in 6th and I only buy about half of this list and when I go supply shopping with my mom, she always gets extra supplies
Great video could I asked for a video request (painting your nails whispering) I see your videos a lot and you always wearing beautiful nail polish, thank u Mary for all your wonderful videos tfs Belle
I love this video, especially in August. Mary, I'm not sure you know this but there are midvideo ads in this one. I know many creators are having ads that they didn't put in the middle of the video, so I thought I'd tell you case you didn't put them there.
I'm sorry about that. They put them in all 2,100+ of my videos. We're working on removing them, but it takes time, as you have to do it for each individual video.
@@SouthernASMRSounds It's totally ok! How frustrating that that happened to you! Honestly, your my favorite asmrist so I just watch the ads and don't skip them, but I knew I'd watched this one before and it didn't have them so I thought I'd mention it.
Ok, I need a video of just the tab dividers. Greatest noise EVER. Edit: glue sticks can join too. Edit 2: The non-donkey, pocket folders can make an appearance as well. AND THE PAPER TOWELS and the paper!!! Anything wrapped in plastic makes the best sound when it is picked up.
Mary, i know youve been dealing with mean comments and trolls. Know theyre the minority. Youre the sweetest and most genuine person on youtube. Keep being you ♡♡♡
