There's actually so many people that watch asmr and no one really talks about it but it's so fun. I just mention it whenever it comes up, I actually found that some of my friends and siblings watch asmr and we can just kinda talk about it. And it's defiantly nothing to be ashamed of. It's supposed to make you feel good so let it empower not embarrass you.

I like to think it has something to do with my (our? in this case) tingle trigger when it comes to listening to "scripted" whispers. It's like listening to someone tell a bedtime story; the words are always the same, so the whispers sound really clear cut. Last time I got a haircut was a disaster because the barber layered my hair without asking because I "looked too feminine" (direct quote) when all I wanted was a half-inch trim. I then had a friend cut it so it was all the same length and haven't had it cut since. It was about to the top of my neck after the "trim", and now its halfway down my back, reaching about 2 feet long.
