As someone who grew up and lives in Germany, listens to Sabaton and plays Hearts of Iron IV, this was easy, but I guess I had some advantages…

I am more interested in WW1 but this is a fun video. Here is a fun fact about WW2: one way the Allies were able to figure out the enigma code was a German soldier in Africa who reported back every day something like "Nothing to report" because in that area there was, I suppose, very little activity. Because of this, the allies knew that every day, whatever the code was, they knew what the letters for "Nothing to report" was, and they could then build on that

@@joujoubrou237 I never heard that but I suppose thats completely possible! I mean one doesn't exclude the other so it could be that they used both. Though didn't they only use "heil Hitler" that way until the very end of the war?

@@joujoubrou237there are different enigma codes for different branches with the kriegsmarine 1 changing all the time, the 1 from the luftwaffe was yours yeah

I enjoyed studying WWII in high school, and consider it a fascinating subject, even with all the horrific details you learn... That being said, I remember when we learned what German planes were called during the war. I was in second year of high school, we were told the planes were called "Fokkers", and the entire class laughs 😂

Weird, since the Germans only had a small number of captured Dutch made Fokker aircraft in use (the Fokker aircraft company relocated from Germany to The Netherlands in 1919). The Messerschmitt 109 and Focke-Wulf 190 were the workhorse airplanes of the Luftwaffe. The Germans did use Fokker's aircraft during WWI, for example the famous ace of aces Manfred von Richthofen, a.k.a The Red Baron, was famous for his blood red Fokker Dr.1 triplane.

@@IconOfSin88 So during WWII, Fokkers were primarily Dutch made? I was not aware of that 😃

@@Gondarth Exclusively. The German invasion of the Netherlands stopped the aircraft production. The Dutch used their Fokkers against the Germans quite well during the invasion, but most of their fighters were unfortunately destroyed on the ground. Finland also used the Fokker D.XXI during the winter war and continuation war and despite the plane being often outclassed, many Finnish fighter pilots became aces in the D.XXI.
