I open up what was sold to me as a New In the Box, but it turns out that was not the case. I estimate the engine did have one run on it based on what the exhaust valve looked like.

Ive got 5 magnum fs engines everyone has leaky valves ,why does these things leak so bad ? They all leaked off compression from right out of the box thought they would seat in but they all got worst

Poor quality control at the manufacturer would be my best guess.

Hey congrat's on your 300th video! :) FYI, if you didn't know already, ASP engines are made by Sanye Precision Machinery in China: www.sanyemodel.com/ who also make the Magnum, SP, and PH branded versions of the same engine. They also made all the RCV engines.

+xKmotx I did know some of that. I knew that SC, Magnum, and ASP engines were made in the same factory, but I have never heard of SP and PH engines. Unfortunately this particular engine just does not have the same level of quality that I see and expect from any Japanese made engine. I am unsure if I will be keeping this engine or not,

do they test run them in the factory ? I don't know

No I do not think any engine company runs engines at the factory. Think about it, they produce thousands of engines. No company is going to employee people with the express purpose of testing running engines. Having worked in manufacturing for over 20 years, I am certain of this.

I agree there, definitely run, but poorly managed, probably run way to lean on cheap fuel and not flushed out after with after run oil.
