People tend to forget that Ford had factories in Germany manufacturing trucks for the Wehrmacht, and Ford certainly don't dwell on it in their company history.
Sd.Kfz. 3 - Maultier half-track cargo vehicle Sd.Kfz. 3 (Maultier) unloaded from a Messerschmitt Me 323 "Gigant" transport aircraft Sd.Kfz. 3a (Maultier based on 2-ton Opel trucks) Sd.Kfz. 3b (Maultier based on 2-ton Ford trucks) Sd.Kfz. 3c (Maultier based on 2-ton Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz trucks)
probably where the germans got their idea for their halftrack opel blits , look it up they look pre neat basically the same thing ,although the tracks are thicker on the german one if i re call
Hows it going? I really like this vehicle. I'm about to get started building the model kit by ICM. From what I see in this video I can utilize the Maultier as a maintenance truck correct? My Diorama scene is that a Tiger tank is having its engine fixed and guys showed up in it. I was going to fill the Mauliter with barrels, tools and Canisters. But reference photos even some of my books, all have this truck with anti-aircraft guns in the back. As I've read it seems as though it was utilized as a self propelled cannon? Can you confirm please? I would like my diorama to be historically accurate. Or should I just go with the Opel maintenance truck? I appreciate it.
@@visionist7 Thanks a alot. I apologize for the late response, I missed the notification. I've since completed the kit but still working on the diorama. I placed barrels and all kinds of maintenance tools in the back. Thanks a bunch for the advice.
