Samantabhadra's King of Aspiration Prayers is a classic Mahayana Buddhist text originating from the final chapter of the Avatamsaka or Flower Ornament Sutra. Human beings often aspire or pray for longevity and prosperity. Such conventional prayers are subjective and limited: a long life or wealth may not benefit us. The Maha of Mahayana means grand, and the aspiration to be free from ignorance reflects this vast and limitless view. This is the only aspiration that is both truly beneficial and possible. Ignorance is not our true nature and aspiring to be free from defilements is entirely achievable.

《普賢行願品》出自《華嚴經》最後一章，是大乘佛教的經典。
人們常常會爲了長壽和富足而發出祈願，但這種普通的祈願是主觀的，也是狹隘的：長壽與富足未必真的能利益到我們。所謂大乘，意指廣大，而祈願從無明中解脫正反映了這種廣大無垠的見地。
這是唯一既能真正利益我們又有可能實現的祈願。無明不是我們的真實本性，祈願從染污中解脫是完全可以實現的。
