Great video and I have been fortunate to have a few Assassins making more but they either aren't surviving or just buried in the sand .... Either way I think that the miniature Assassins is going to be something that I will work on getting a better setup and be able to observe since I have had them in a tub pond so I can only see from above . This is fantastic! I recently added assassin snails to two of my tanks, but I was afraid to put them in my shrimp tank, and my tank that has nerite snails. It's good to know they are safe with shrimp, because my little shrimp tank has too many ramshorn snails now. Oh, and the assassin snails have laid eggs. I am excited to see what their life is like from the beginning.
Some ghost/glass shimp(not meaning mislabeled amanos or red-claw) are so aggressive they will eat ramshorn, bladder, and pond snails all the way from eggs to about half-grown, especially if you smash a couple and they get a taste for them. I've never found a food they like more than snails. I've seen ghost shrimp pick up and eat tiny snails right out the shell and I've seen them ride on larger snails slowly picking at them until they detach and other shrimp join in. They won't wipe out a whole tank of snails, but they do a really good job of keeping them under control while also eating algae, etc.
Amazing photography! I have 3 that appeared out of nowhere in my smallest (2.5 gal) tank-cherry shrimp and Ramshorn snails. Took me a while to identify them as assassins. Guess they had hitched a ride on some live plants. They are small yet, about 1/4”. I’ve not seen them in action but I have seen them cruising around the tank. Still plenty for them to eat so they def won’t go hungry. Plenty more common snails in my other tanks😆☮❤🐠🦐🪴
I didn't know that the assasin snail's had is way to get inside of the others to eat. I love how you always come out to tell us all these educational contents. Keep them coming and thank you!

awesome, i didn't know that assasin snails come from Southeast Asia. i live in Java Island, Indonesia but really i never know where assasin snail came from since we can't found it easily in every fish store, only avail on some big store or aquascape store. i thought i was from somewhere in America or Europe. thanks for this video Chris. our lake had snails, this year I havn't seen any, no invasive species, if its a fish I have no idea because no fish bitin' off the dock, the temp is erratic, One day 95, then back to 40 at night. Its nice to see curated pets and varieties, it will become more precious and rare after the weather becomes more erratic, and animals need humans to promote their environments. %96 of the worlds animals are humans and human's food livestock! %4 is animals, wild animals, and how we stuard their worlds means the world to them.
IGreat video. This is what I needed. Thank you. In my shrimp aquarium, I got like hundred snails and I see a lot of eggs. I want to get rid of them. I prefer to have only one snail. But I got a question, if I buy one, what is better, male or female? If there is only one, I hope there will be no babies of assassin snails, and I will have, for like 4x years only one snail. The second question is: after fully clearing my aquarium, what do they eat? How should I prepare for feeding? And how do I know they are up for a meal if, after one meal, they buried themselves in sand for 10 days?
