Sequence 13 Memory 4 - UPWARD MOBILITY
Ezio Auditore da Firenze embarks on his mission to eliminate the third of Girolamo Savonarola's nine lieutenants, a nobleman who has taken refuge on the rooftops of Florence. As Ezio surveys the scene, he spots the nobleman above, poised with a sense of urgency.
The nobleman, cries out, imploring Ezio not to disrupt their work. He argues that Florence is sick and in need of a cure, and it is their duty to administer it. Ezio, unfazed, counters with a sharp retort, questioning the legitimacy of forcing the city's populace to follow a madman like Savonarola.
The nobleman, trying to assert his authority, warns Ezio of the dangers of challenging those in power. Ezio, however, is resolute and makes it clear that change is inevitable. Panicked, the nobleman realizes his peril and calls for the guards before attempting to flee.
As the chase ensues across the rooftops, the nobleman desperately defends Savonarola's rule. He insists that Savonarola is their savior and that the people's compliance is proof of his righteousness. He pleads with Ezio to reflect on their cause, arguing that he has done no wrong but merely followed the prophet's will.
Ezio soon catches up with the fleeing nobleman. With a swift and decisive move, he assassinates the nobleman. In his final moments, the nobleman proclaims his innocence, claiming to be a victim and blaming his actions on Savonarola's charm and influence. Ezio, however, does not absolve him of responsibility. He reminds the nobleman that he made a choice and that his subjugation was self-inflicted. Ezio then offers a somber farewell, stating that his actions are for the people, and wishes the nobleman to rest in peace.
With the nobleman's death, the district falls under the control of the Medici guards, freeing it from the oppression that had taken hold.
