I was freaked out by how Al Mualim had pretty much brainwashed the entire town and nearly all his Assassins. It showed a glimpse of what the world would be like under Templar control with the Pieces of Eden.
EmptyMan000 the Templar dream world is a living hell . Things like racism , war, conflict would obviously end but no ones mind would be their own. There would be no point to life you would be a slave .
EmptyMan000 they just need one piece, in Lucy's delete emails you can read that they already build a satellite that can cover the would world with just one piece of eden.
Al Mualim was perhaps the most intelligent villain in the series he fooled both Assassins and Templars and manipulated the events of the whole game, he played his part perfectly and pretended to be an Assassin but in truth he was a Templar. I also find Altair and Al Mualim's conversations about religion, truth e.t.c. very interesting his voice actor did a great job.
Considering the fact that Al Mualim waa Splinter in the original cartoon for TMNT I'd say he did pretty damn well. Also, the philosophical discussions are what made this game more interesting than the others for me.
@@sojiro8760 he acted more like a Templar than an Assassin. The only difference between him the Templars was that he he wanted all the power for himself.
Not many people talk about this, but I love how the dialogue between Altaïr and Malik in this final act mirrors their first encounter in Jerusalem during Altaïr's hunt. *"Safety and peace, Malik."* *"Your presence here deprives me of both."* *"Safety and peace, Malik."* *"Your presence here will deliver us both."*
Love how the atmosphere is grey shows how Altaïr has discovered that the conflict between the assassins and Templars is not as black and white as it seems.
@@TB__- no, he sounds more like he's going to infect a whole city with a virus, kill a bunch of soldiers and scientists, and then create an army of deformed humans.

Nehad Younis Hey my friend I live across the sea (Greece) and since you know arabic can you tell me if Altair speaks in good accent? because I know Ezio's italian are not very good haha
Al Mualim, my first betrayer in any game. I played it when it first came out, I was 8 at the time. Never expierenced betrayal before, it kinda hurt, but man, back then in the past and in the present now, I still think this is one of the best stories ever. And one of the toppest from all AC games.
It means Eagle Vision in NOT failproof. Perhaps her "color" was blue because part of her was still loyal to the Assassins, or due to her feeling for Desmond, proving she really cared about him...
yutro213 I think his limited Eagle sense doesn't tell to which groups she belongs he targets, but rather the intentions and personal feelings they have for the viewer.
Yuwan that explains why Al Mualim appears in blue either. Al Mualim didn’t want to kill Altair, but to make him a Templar too. It’s because Altair refused that he wanted to kill him. Lucy was a traitor but she had a feeling for Desmond.
I would love a remake of this one. The story was so unexpected when I first played it, so much that I fell in love with the franchise soon after. This is by far my favorite still, AC2 and AC:Brotherhood too.
Story wise none of them is even close to AC1. What AC1 had weak was linear gameplay. AC2, brotherhood or revelations had decent story, the most revelations, but not even of AC1, while stories of anything after AC3 is basicly reasonless.
Although I agree the gameplay was repetitive, I love the atmosphere of this one more. It really feels like you're playing assassins and not superheroes/elite adventurers. If they ever remake it, I hope they don't try to make it too actiony.
I just finished it, overall it’s pretty repetitive but in a fun way. The combat is hard to get into but once you get more experienced it quickly becomes satisfying
Its a shame this games plot lost its way. The first few games were great with an awesome overlying plot, now it just seems like they wanted to make more games and didnt have enough story, so they are just making it up as they go

I can't even put into words how much I love the end of the Altair segment. I really found it highly cinematic. For me this is truly the best game in the series, no matter what the critics say; I missed that freedom of action and a bit of a dark mysterious atmosphere in the later parts. These brainwashed enslaved zombie people, assassins and inhabitants; and the evil "teacher" who was supposed to be on your side... such a good twist. Masterpiece!
I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also was a chasing at the wind. For in much wisdom, is much grief, and he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow I Really Love This Quote
It was dialogue like that which made Assassin's Creed I. Assassin's Creed II broke my heart. The dialogue in that game could have been written by an eight year old.
al mualim pensait avoir la réponse et a maintenu les gens dans l'obscurité alors que altair a mené sa vie pour trouver une réponse il est devenu plus sage mais il ne l'a pas trouvé son héritage doit être partagé mais al mualim
Anyone notice at the end when you can walk around abstergo and enter eagle vision, the Mayan prophecy of 12/21/2012 is written on the far right side of the room? Pretty cool considering the game was made 5 years earlier.
It is in this argument between Al Mualim and Altair that suddenly makes Altair a LOT more mature as a character than Al Mualim ever was, suddenly it was reversed, Al mualim was the child and Altair was the teacher.
Jesus Christ I saw this coming. Every time you kill someone Altair has suspicions that they weren't really evil and when you tell Al Mualim, he always changes the subject. Also how da faq did he keep getting the Templars's locations?
6 years later so sorry for the response to something you probably have the answer to. The reason Altair was confused about the Templars was that some of them weren't entirely devious/sinister. Some of them had actual intentions for helping their respective communities, but went about it through horrible/morally questionable ways. This was contrary to the information that Altair was being spared by Al Mualim. The way he got the Templars location is a mix of two things. 1. The assassin burrows and 2. Al Mualim. The last Templar you kill tells you as much since he worked with Al Mualim.

5:43 I’ll never forget the first time seeing this cutscene and seeing the apple restrain Altair. I new at that moment that this game was much bigger than it let on, and that a sequel would be the best thing I’ve ever experienced.
This level is a lot more suspenseful if you walk through it. I always find it creepy how the NPC's form a zombie-like mass behind you. I also prefer to run and hide from the guards rather than fight them. It just seems like what Altire would do considering what he's gone through. I.E. Going from a douche-bag to a pretty swell guy. It also makes sense considering that he grew up with these guards and probably knows them. I don't think they would want to kill him.
+AKArainkit Well said, I totally agree. The assassin guards he fights are actually really good fighters, too. Compared to the guards from the 3 major cities. Definitely want to keep those guys alive, once the apple's effect has stopped!
+AKArainkit They should've put that on the back cover: Master the art of kill Plan your attack, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape Go from a douche-bag to a pretty swell guy
12:00 that was a SICK animation. Stabbing Al Mulam, he’s screaming for a few seconds in defeat before Altair delivers the final blow. What an ending to the fight!
For all those who say that this game or this ending sucked, I tell you: What the Fuck are u doing here watching this video? This is the original Assassins creed game by excellence and a real Fan of this franchise knows that it's greatness lasted until AC Revelations ! from there all is recycling and overexploitation, although I have to Say AC III and Black Flag are good games but the essense of the Assassins organization and the thread of the story are lost.
+jesusr925 AC III was good and have some essense of the Assassins organization but ACIV i can't forget ubisoft for losing the true purpose of the story
The line "in truth, I did try" won me over, it shows there was a respect, and frustration, that the student that most troubled him, he wanted the most. There is a moment of regret, a moment of "my boy, if only I had succeeded, so much more could be done together" It turned him from the "ah ha it was me along !" To a villain that was clever and scary in his intelligence. This kept the atmosphere of dread, death, misery and disease alive better than any over boss fight, that even the safety of home was not immune the folly of man
Can we just restart the whole series but let Desmond survive the events of AC3 please?! His story honestly had potential in my opinion. Also AC1, AC2 (And ezios saga)AC3 and black flag were amazing. But I just couldn’t get into the other AC games after Black Flag
Back then everyone kept whining about how the modern day plot sucked and how "they just want a period piece world to shoot the shit in" and any action in the modern day would "ruin it" despite it being the defining trait of the franchise. Ubisoft gave in, sacked the producer who was helming the series and cancelled the outline that would have ended with Desmond as the ultimate assassin in the modern day. The problems were beginning with Brotherhood, though. They got rid of Lucy in the most "last minute rewrite" way because they didn't extend Kristen Bell's contract.
Well for one I just finished it and absolutely none of my leap of faiths worked. I had walk up and down every single view point. Because jumping in the hay was killing me. Trust me. It took a lot from me to finish it xdd
@@AMCRBFMV I agree that the controls and leaps of faith sucked. If you ever play again make sure vertical sync is on in the game and on your graphics card. That solved the leap of faith issues for me
@Sum Boi The objectives had their place in the game and the pacing was fine. Hilarious that many will praise ac 2 however despite the fact that it takes 2 hours to finally be an assassin.
Only a sheep would say he spoke the total truth. Sure the Saracens and Christians were following shadowy Gods in the name of war, but he became no different from the men he fought against. Drunk with power and trying to put everyone under his rule. Never forget he became what he railed against.
a sheep? haha thanks man :D. But at that time when war was so common thing and assassins wanted or tried to achieve peace anyway, Al mualim saw the easy way to get to it, sure it corrupted him and who knows what he would have done next but there is still some truth in his final words.
+Lulzasaurus(I do not own this) Because most people like having them for when they're speaking another language or someone just misheard exactly what someone says. And they aren't really distracting, especially if you're playing on a big screen.
1135-1191..That makes Al Mualim 56 at the time of his death. Am I the only one that thought he was quite a bit older than that? like 65+ .... And Altair was 25/26 at this point. So going back 25 years years before this, Al Mualim was already Mentor of the Order before the age of 30. That seems really odd..
+Amin Benatia Yeah that is true, but judging by his appearance and the amount of knowledge and experience he supposedly has at this point, I think his age was a bit of an oversight maybe.. I'd still expect him to be quite a bit older than 56
Al Mualim was the Mentor of the Assasins,he went mad with power once he had the Apple of Eden. Im pretty sure that was the time when Altair lost his Master Assasins rank?
Have you played this game mate? [spoiler alert] At the start of the game Altair loses his master assassin rank for breaking the three tenants of the creed, demoted to a novice. But Malik returns with the Apple, giving it to Al Mualim and only towards the end of the game, when Altair faces Al Mualim, do you really see how mad he's gone with that power. Altair defeats Al Mualim and restores order in the brotherhood and becomes the Master Assassin and mentor of the Assassins. The story continues afterwards, in the Secret Crusade novel.
You dont get stories like these anymore , misteriouss , engaging , whith good plot twists that even the most wisest players might not expect. Yes the game mechanics might have not been the greatest , but the story was the best of the franchise. Asssassins creed died for me after AC3 when they killed off desmond and the story became... predictable and boring. It is still fun to see the stories of the assassins , but all the magic and grand master plan is gone.
there were 2 sentences in hebrew "עולם הבא" that their translation means: "the next world" which means heaven and hell and all that stuff. the nest world means like the world of heaven above 17:53
Ac games need to be like this again, to feel like you are in knee deep of both Philosophy & Darker themes of Humanity's conscious. Case in point: the combat needs to feel brutal & the future Ac games needs to feel more M (Mature) rated
Also, just bring back the combat of Ac1 please!? 😖 I swear that Ac games haven't felt like Ac1 ever since Ac2 came out (that game is fun, but definately more tonely different from Ac1.) Lol
I just finished the game , for the first time ever and I was completely bamboozled. I've played only Odyssey before but this one was truly breathtaking. They did such a great job with the game. The symbols at the end with Desmond have me totally confused. Imma play the next games to figure out..

All other things aside, this was actually a pretty cool final boss battle. It's even better if you crank up the music in the sound settings, because that theme kicks ass.

I know people say that the later games are better and all, but you can never get to where you are unless you make a few mistakes. It was Altair and the first game that started all of this. And for that, I will be forever grateful.
I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceive that this also was a chasing at the wind. For in much wisdom, is much grief. And he that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow. In real life this phrase is written in Ecclesiastes 1:17 I was stunned by the philosophical depth behind this phrase. It was used dogmatically as a constant reminder from the church towards the people to seek no knowledge lest they be miserable. As an atheist I expected no better. But the phrase also contains an amount of regretful truth. Knowledge unbounds the person from the illusions but these illusions provide a type of shelter which helps the person protect himself both mentally and psychologically. Nearly all the great minds from east to west suffered from melancholia to full blown depression. With that in mind remember always that nearly everything is a matter of subjective perspective. And even your enemies can lead you to wisdom. As de Sablé did for Altaïr.
once you take your time reading all the massages on Lucy's computer you will find the new key of the main door due to Lucy asked to Warren because the first door broke out
