Assassin's Creed II - Ezio's Family | Reacting To Video Game Music!

This started out as just Ezio the AC2 protagonists theme, but it’s become the theme for Assassins Creed as a whole, there’s several different versions across the other games. Which isn’t a surprise as it’s such a beautiful song, there’s another more fast paced version I highly recommend called Venice Rooftops.

Ezio has a tragic backstory, but this song plays within the first 30-60 minutes of the game. You're a young Ezio, whose only problems are your lover's father catching you sneaking into his daughter's bedroom, and the son of another noble family daring to challenge you to street fights. You and your older brother race to the top of a tall building after yet another day of excitement. It is a good life you both lead. You hope that it never changes, and that it never changes you.

One of the best themes from the 'Golden Era' of the franchise. Kyd's work never fails to impress and immerse.

Hearing this track again just took me back 13 years ago. Holy shit.

The Venice rooftops version of the theme used for more fast paced sections of the game is also fantastic.

Jesper Kyd is unbelievably talented. The franchise has an incredible score. They've done other versions of this track because of how iconic this piece is. I highly recommend you listen to the Assassin's Creed Rogue Version of Ezio's Family, it's the only alternate version that is almost as good as the original you just listened to. Also Assassin's Creed Revelations and Origins have beautiful soundtracks as well

each Assassin's Creed takes place in a different time and location so AC2 is in Italy during the Renaissance. Ezio is the protagonist and this is his theme. It became so popular that the melody is basically the theme for the whole series now. (Jesper Kyd is actually the composer)

My guess as for why the OG video had 26 million views is because AC2 is considered by a lot as the best Assassin's Creed, or at the least Ezio is considered the best protagonist.

The Assassin's creed 2 trilogy is my favorite from the series. The more you advance in the plot, the harder this song hits.

I really like when you starting talking about how this is a song that would stick with you. Assassin's Creed 2 is my favorite video game of all time and I played it all the way back in 2009 when it came out. I played it so much and had a lot of fun with the gameplay but never really knew how much the story and characters and the world meant to me. As I've gone back to it over the years I've realized more and more how special this game is to me. Ezio's Family is so easily recognizable in my head and I even teared up a little watching this, even though I've heard the song hundreds of times. To me this song represents what Assassin's Creed is (and should still be IMO) its a story that's an adventure and there's a lot of cool action and excitement, but the underlying tragedy and struggle of the main characters is always at the center of everything. The newer games have unfortunately lost this IMO, but I can always go back to the best games like 2 and remember how special it was and still is to me. That's the power of this song for me and it definitely does stick with me and I think it always will.

Ezio Auditore da Firenze was the protagonist for three consecutive games: Assassins Creed II, Assassins Creed: Brotherhood, and Assassins Creed: Revelations. These were the only three AC games i ever played because I felt like nothing else in the franchise could top that journey. This soundtrack shows that video games can be so much more than just entertainment. Video games can be art that touches your very soul.

Jesper kyd also made music for hitman, and darksiders 2. He is amazing

AC's Ezio's Family leitmotif nowadays is almost as recognizable as mario theme, zelda chest opening or FF victory fanfare. Jesper Kyd really managed to create something special with this one.

Just hearing the initial strings from the acoustic guitar brings back a wave of nostalgia as I remember playing this game-changer for the first time, back in the day. 'Ezio's Family' has become so iconic to the franchise that, 13 years after AC II was released, it is still used in the trailer for the next game in the franchise (Mirage, to be released in 2023).

The emotions in this soundtrack is too good, man. Makes you recall Ezio's whole life, and relive exactly how you felt during all the major plot points.

This is so iconic because it started just as Ezio's Family in the meaning of his literal family that he lost, but after multiple other versions in other games from Assassin's Creed franchise it's now Ezio's family in the meaning of all assassins - protagonists of these games, assassins, are his new family and are continuing his work in their own way

Man I miss this game, first time hearing this theme I'm literally crying

The way the vocals are sang takes you straight into Italy in the 1400’s. the melancholic melody is just a perfect loop for the story line of Ezio. The gameplay, the old Italian architecture and this music makes it a perfect experience to take the player into this dramatic storyline of renaissance

Brings me back to a time before Ubisoft threw this series into their meat grinder never to be seen in this form again. The original story with the future had so much potential but they couldn't find a way to monetize a good story so they had to kill it.

The thing I love with what they've done with Ezio's Family is that they reuse it as the theme for every game but change it in style and what instruments are used and it feels like new every time and I always look forward to how they change it every time

I remember discovering this song by a wrestlers theme song and someone pointed out that his song was inspired by Ezio family theme. I hadn't ever played an Assassin's Creed game ever, but when I heard this song for the first time it honestly got me wanting to play it. Just got Assassin's Creed Ezio collection so can't wait to dive right in to this legendary game series!

I guess you were expecting something middle-easternish because you were in the mindset of the first game settings while the games has different eras (Cleopatra's Egypt, New Orleans, Ancient Greece, High Seas) for different games. AC2 is set in Renaissance Italy and the theme is attached to an emotional scene of Ezio and his brother (hence Ezio's Family). You should also listen to the Revelation theme which stars Ezio in Turkey, and Odyssey (Legend Of The Eagle Bearer) which is set in Ancient Greece.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. Ezio's story touched me in such a deep way that I simply don't have words to explain how much I love this damn story. This music piece pulls my heart and makes me feel things. It truly is just SOOO GOOD. Edit: if you ever do decide to play this game, once you do, you'll see how perfect the score to each game really is. Love this theme and the franchise as a whole. But the original escape theme from the first game, when the enemy rings that alarm bell will AWLAYS be the best. I miss Altair.

Oh man the nostalgia

This theme is the main theme of this title, but it is used in all the most honorable or memorable moments in all Assassin's Creed titles. it's just amazing that it makes you shed tears of emotion.

Most of the AC games are set in multiple different time periods and settings with an overarching modern day story tying them all together. My mind is a little foggy but from what I remember: AC1 - Middle East during the crusades Ezio trilogy (AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations) - renaissance Italy/Turkey AC3, AC Liberation, AC Rogue - colonial America AC4 Black Flag - pirates! AC Unity - revolutionary France AC Syndicate - victorian London AC Origins - ancient Egypt AC Odyssey - ancient Greece AC Valhalla - Vikings invading England There were also a couple of small side games set in India, China, and Russia collectively called Chronicles I think. They would often include well known people of the time directly associating with the main character. So Ezio was friends with Da Vinci, AC3 had Washington and Benjamin Franklin, AC4 had Blackbeard, Syndicate had Darwin and DLC involving Jack the Ripper. That kind of thing. The motif in Ezio's Family was so loved that it's become more or less the theme of the entire franchise. I'm pretty sure all the games have variations on the leitmotif in them, usually on the title menu.

Much like Assassin's Creed 2 (and the subsequent games in the Ezio-Trilogy) and its protagonist, Ezio Auditore da Firenze became some of the defining cornerstones of the franchise as a whole (even though it has changed considerably by now compared to the early games), this theme, which started out as merely Ezio's theme, became pretty much the defining piece of music of the entire franchise and eventually became its main theme, present in every game, even though every new game has its own version of it, usually remade in the style of the music of the era/location each game is set in.

Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood are set in Italy. Florence, Venice, and Rome in particular. During and immediately after the Italian Renaissance. Jesper Kyd is the composer and the protagonist of the game is Ezio Auditore da Firenze.

Jesper Kyd (pronounced Yesper Kid iirc) is the composer. His music in the first few games honestly kind of made the experience magical. The games starring Ezio mostly take place in Italy during the Renaissance. I only played up to AC3 but I remember they replaced Kyd with one of Hans Zimmer's flunkies (Lorne Balfe, I think?) and the music turned a little more typical Hollywood which imo really made the music lose a lot of its charm...

What makes this one of the best scores ever composed, is going through the journey with Ezio. hearing it on it's own is epic, but playing Ezio's story adds so much more emotion and depth to the score. Although not in the same tone, I can recommend AC4 Black Flag theme. Just like most of the critically acclaimed games out there, most of the AC music is great as well; sometimes they can compete with biggest OST hits out there. And Ezio's Theme is in 100% Assassin's Creed fashion. Such a nice theme.

Back when AC really knew what it was. This song stirs up some amazing memories of playing as a young Ezio, we watch him grow and mature into a grandmaster...such an amazing trilogy of games. AC1 was good....the Ezio trilogy was stellar! Venice Rooftops is also a brilliant song from the game.

I think that the gameplay you had seen, based on your description, was the original Assassin’s Creed. In that game, the main character was Altaïr Ibn-La’ahad, who was from Syria. In that game, the player also travels to multiple cities in multiple countries, including Jerusalem. This song is from Assassin’s Creed II, which features Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Italy. To my knowledge, which I admit is very rusty, Ezio doesn’t travel to any desert areas until either Brotherhood or Revelations, if he does at all.

This song always take me back. AC II(trilogy) was amazing. Sadly it went downhill from there. Its combination of classical music and modern instruments(electric guitar) isnt just coincidence, it has meaning related to story that also combine (pseudo)history and modern day events.
