@@Eleni1002 i don't know man, but I think that the path that we walked with Ezio plus the charismatic characters in the game and the good ambient made the game good, and in the final scene Ezio says "killing you won't bring my family back" I think that it's a good character development
@@anthonysebastian362 The game was great and I can excuse the ending for that reason but I don't think that's character development. Ezio tried to air assassinate Rodrigo a few hours before eventually sparing him. He even said the signature phrase "Requiescat in pace". I understand that they couldn't kill Rodrigo because he's a historical figure and he still had 7-8 years left but the way they wrote it was bad. They couldn't even excuse the decision in Brotherhood. I think it would have been better if Ezio said that "letting you live with the knowledge that you aren't the prophet is worse than death". We know that Rodrigo was obsessed with that prophecy stuff and the First Civ.
Hiring a band of Mercenari/Thieves/Courtesans... 150f (Florins) A painting of the Goddess Aphrodite/Venus... 14800f The Sword of Altaïr... 50000f Beating up a corrupt Pope with your bare hands... priceless.
I love how Rodrigo is calling Ezio boy when he is 40 years old. Also its a shame you can't replay missions in AC II since it had such amazing missions and plus so I can re-do this mission with the music
Ezio is 40 by the end of AC2. We can confirm this from the beginning of AC Brotherhood which continues immediately after AC2 and it's the year 1499. Ezio was born in 1459.
I’m pretty sure it’s because he’s been involved in Ezio’s life for such a long time, considering he engineered the death of most of the Auditores, that he still views him as a petulant child hellbent on revenge.
"Nothing is true, everything is permitted. Rest In Peace." Nothing is true, his quest for revenge was abandoned willingly. Everything is permitted, he spared his target's life. Rest In Peace, Borgia can sleep soundly without fear of being killed.
I was thinking the same when fighting him. When Ezio said killing you wont bring my family back that was exactly the same thing when fighting Rodrigo and his own son killing him with a poisoned apple is more accurate in to how he died in real life.
The irony I find in the ending of AC2 is that throughout the game Ezio is wearing an outfit that’s primary color is white representing purity and innocence while Borgia wore black representing power, strength, and authority. Now their outfits switched, Ezio wears black while Borgia wears white, yet Ezio is the prophet.
@@kollinlorenzo3287 nah he didnt kill him because the writers got lazy. he was 5 seconds from killing him and if Rodrigo didnt have a magic weapon (something i thought ac fans hated) he would have killed rodrigo. its just laziness.
@@SharkSprayYTP Its not laziness bruh and whats laziness is if he actually killed him since that was pretty much so predictable at that point and yeah he didnt die because of Historical records he ddnt die till like 4 years later and besides if they streched the story that long in one game it would pretty much feel like a very rushed and slow procedure of Ezios Story.
@@kollinlorenzo3287 It literally is laziness bro. They didnt explain why he went from "im gonna kill you" to "nah you can go" in the space of 5 mins. Its pure laziness. They could've actually done something with it where rodrigo escapes, like ezios lust for revenge forcing him into making a mistake which lets Rodrigo escape setting up the events of brotherhood and forcing ezio into becoming more level headed. But no. They went with "and then he tries to kill him but then suddenly he doesnt want to kill him." Pure laziness.
To think Ezio's journey in AC2 started when he was 17 and ended when he is 40. 23 years of his life spent chasing after the men responsible for murdering his family.
Ezios lust revenge was tempered by the passage of time. He resolves that rodrigos death will mean very little. Ezio took the high road which is very honorable. This shows ezios growth from a mere boy to a wise leader. But in my opinion he should have killed simplify because it is a safety thing at this point. Rodrigo is in control of so much power and could strike back like Cesare did.
Even if Ezio had killed him, Cesare would have still attacked the Villa and killed Mario in retaliation. Something that wasn’t even Rodrigos decision, he wanted a truce with Ezio after being spared which is why he poisoned Cesare in the first place.
Nahhh rodrigo learned his lesson from AC2 by the time brotherhood rolled around what he wanted didn’t belong to him and he pretty much wanted too leave the assassin’s alone but cesare said fuck that
@assassinsknight How could Ezio guarantee that? Rodrigo has killed so many, and Ezio has killed almost as much in order to get to him. It's lousy writing. Rodrigo wanted the Apple, Ezio took it and left him alive. It's a stupid decision, made for the sake of historical 'accuracy' and driving the plot ahead with some semblance of coherence (i.e. they don't just randomly introduce Cesare into the story).
Can’t wait to get to this mission. The only problem is that it didn’t save, and I had to restart all the way back to the beginning. Luckily, I wasn’t that far in the game. I only got to the part where we met Ezio, and his brother for the first time.
That was back when it was a big deal, the cloning was a thing since the first game but it was done very sparingly and was only there to show how powerful and out of the ordinary the pieces of Eden were.
All I could think when he spared him was, “are you kidding me?” Like I know some people say this is supposed to be character development but come on. You don’t go on a revenge quest as an assassin for over ten years and kill over a thousand people just to spare the one guy who caused it all.
When you play AC Brotherhood, you see how Rodrigo became a more careful character. Trying to stop his son because he know they don't have a chance against Ezio. If Rodrigo died in AC 2, Cesare would be like the Cesare you can see in the final act of Brotherhood. More dangerous and unpredictable.
Yeah he replaced his revenge with the purpose of fighting for the assassin's and to prove it to himself he would not kill him out of anger and by this point rodrgio was already in despair he wasn't the prophet
"You take your image of the creators from an ancient book - a book, mind you, written by MEN. Are you so naive. Do you think I believe a single god-damned word of that ridiculous book? It's all lies and superstition. Just like every OTHER religious tract written over the pas ten thousand years." He nailed it!
i love how back in the day they made the villains the worst that a human can be yet at the same time hold some solid af monologues, it showed back in the day that the villain didn't have to be some kind misguided character to be a good villain with some truth in their words. Don't get it twisted, i like those kinds of villains too, but i admittedly miss these a bit too.
You people don’t understand Ezio……..why? Because you are not in his shoes….he spared rodrigo because it wasn’t worth it. After everything…..his father and brothers are not coming back. The best decision, he wanted that man to see how f’ed up he really was
I feel like he also didn’t wanna go down in history as a guy who killed a Pope. Prob would’ve been super shameful back then especially for his sister & mom.
I'm not really sure. In Revelations, Altair hid his apple in the vault that was to be his final resting place until Ezio found it centuries later when he found the memory keys and 7:58 it also shows Ezio holding the apple so my guess is that he got it out before he went into the room to meet Minerva
Epic ending but Ezio really should’ve killed Rodrigo. I mean every person he killed up to this point was to get to Rodrigo and then he just lets him live. Sure it would’ve made changes to Brotherhood but they could’ve been explained away
AC2 ending is what really got me hooked into the series. AC3 ending then took all that away. Haven't touched the series since. Killing Desmond was the worst decision they made.
Agreed. I hated how they killed my boy Desmond although I think you should still give Rogue and Black flag a chance, the writing is outstanding in those 2 chapters. Ignore the shitty rpgs though.
Yes, I also think it's terrible since Desmond left there is absolutely no plot in the lore that leads together they simply have no idea what they are actually doing with the ISU,
