@@sneaky5141 I know right, I saw Odyssey as not much of a change from Origins really. Bayek as a whole was ok but didn't bring me anything really. I mean you could murder a whole village and nothing happened to you in Origins also, your choices don't really matter. I thought the way they started the game didn't make much sense. I think the whole origin line of things didn't make alot of sense. I think Assassins Creed as a franchise has kind of lost what it means to be itself. Everything in the present version of the story with Origins was pretty weak. I find it interesting that he can shower this game with praise and then turn around and trash Odyssey as much as he has, they kind of are the same game. Just a very strange take which makes me listen to his opinion less because it swings from one extreme to another. Also I played Odyssey and its just way to much like Origins and so I agree with some of his criticism about Odyssey but those problems were also present here as well and not talked about as hard as they were in Odyssey. His take just hasn't aged well but as people get older they change so maybe his outlook on Origins has changed. Overall I prefer Origins because it was the first one going for this approach. I hope they change it for the new one because I don't think I can take a repeat of these two last games.

@@benjiboy4477 His story revolves around the foundation of the Creed and the beginnings of the Brotherhood, and that alone should be the focus. What better way to continue his story than covering the stories of exactly why the tenets were put in place, the growing pains of the order in its infant years, and the development of Aya/Amunet and Bayek as characters. None of this *has* to take place in Egypt though; it could, but it doesn't have to. Ancient Rome? Cool place for Amunet development. Ancient Jerusalem? Also cool for a callback to the original AC. Nubia? Cool alternative setting with similar topography to Egypt. Pagan Mecca and Medina? Exotic and interesting spots for stories to unfold. That's various places in the same time period that would be amazing to go through that would be near to Egypt, not to mention there being potential to hide callbacks to earlier games in these hypothetical games.

Personally I loved the game, I enjoyed how this huge creed of highly trained assassins who have had a huge effect on history while staying hidden all spawned from two parents avenging their child and all the huge aspects that have become a part of the assassins also came from such small things like a eagle skull and an assassination gone wrong and I just loved it

Going back to this review makes me sad. Origins was the best Assassins Creed since Black flag and imo is on the top 3 list. Odyssey is was not what Origins was setting up and im upset Ubisoft went that route
@majesticfrost6964
@majesticfrost6964 5 лет назад
Now that I have completed Odyssey with all the dlc I think ik what they did wrong with Odyssey. The main problem is not that there are no assassin's or the game has gone completely different way to assassin's Creed as a whole but the main problem were emotions, every game before this and every assassin had a motive , a character traits but neither do Layla or Kassandra have those making them bland. The final dlc was good but they messed Layla's character even more with that ending, Layla holds a lot of potential in her character if done right maybe she could even surpass Desmond in terms of it but I think they are not using it properly. I hope the next game is made by either Ubisoft Montreal or Ubisoft Sofia because they are the only two teams who actually respect the legacy of assassin's creed

I thought the meat of this game was really good. The beginning and the end felt rushed. I thought being Bayak in Siwa doing his job and being with his family, would have better helped us appreciate how good his life was, and what he lost. Personally, I was pissed with Aya. Bayak tells her several times, that this path with royalty is not one he wants. He makes it very clear to Cleopatra’s face, that he serves Egypt, and not her. Aya does her thing anyways, and everything goes to shit. Then Bayak finishes killing everyone, so Aya can leave him and kill final boss? Ahhhh, it all kinda rubbed me wrong. I appreciate tying it all together at the end, but it was like the “Origins” story, and we get to the end and how is it an Origins story? Here’s a couple cut scenes. Still, clearly this team have made the best two AC games since Ezio, so bravo for that. I think they can do better, and the other teams should just go something else.

I completely agree with you saying that not everything should be marked on the map - it would’ve been cool and maybe a little terrifying to stumble across an animal lair while making your way to a different mission marker. That being said, I think the fact that you can’t just fast travel everyone does help a bit with making you feel like you’re exploring. We don’t know where places are unless we go past them then we can see them in the world but no fast travel (unless viewpoint) and can also find where places are by people talking about it or they show for a quest. Hope u think it’s a good idea :)

7:18 I agree, but if there were no question marks you would be running around for hours not finding anything. Resulting in getting disappointed again and again and eventually you will only do main quests instead. With these question marks, you at least know you're going to find something. But yet again, I understand your point. At the moment you don't explore the space in between the question marks because you know there won't be anyting (btw, is it 100% certain that there is nothing in between the question marks ?? Or is that just an assumption ;p ) They could also take the best from both worlds. Mark every point of interest. Sometimes the POI's will be empty, and sometimes there will be something interessting. Or maybe that buildings or caves or whatever are only marked on the map if you speak to the right NPC that tells you a story about the POI.

To be honest, my nitpick about the hidden ones is I wish they had a differently worded creed, just something different but still in the spirit of protecting free will, cause the true start of the Assassins should have been King Hassan, because HIS DYING WORDS ARE THE CREED "Nothing is true, everything is permitted", this is thousands of years before the Hashashin would've been dubbed as such or started, what I think they should've done is make the Hidden Ones an original group, basically a whole squad of proto-assassins possibly some remnants even surviving into modern day

I’m not going to lie , I hated this game in the very beginning and put it to the side for a short time after purchase but after delving a bit further from curiousity found myself completely submerged and now I can say that it is My most favorite game of all time. The part where it got me was seeing his son die. From that point I for filled the star chart missions to get that cool outfit which plunged me further and connected me more to Beyeks plight . Got addicted to exploring tombs and I leveled up my Xp in gladiator arenas which rendered me a beast. When I was level 22 I’d go after level 30 Phylakes and herass them With fire bombs weakening them until I could take them out with Maele attacks. Sometimes it would take hours but it was fun none the less. And soldier encampments ? Forget about it I’d Come back at night and who ever was too strong I’d make sure to wake theM up with long distant first arrows.My only gripe with this Game is his wife . Especially the times I am forced to play as her. I love dressing Beyek in the bath towel and taking screen shots with the big booty woman that walk through out the game. When you approach them they tend to back up into Corners which if you get up against them it looks like they are kissing from certain angles .I have posted many my pictures online sexy Beyek The beast.I love love love this game

Imagine falling in love with Bayek like you did Ezio, and instead of getting a sequel with him like Brotherhood or Revelations they skip right on ahead to AC3. That's basically what happened here with Odyssey lmao

Origins I absolutely loved, I might re-install it. Origins, despite the changes in combat, still feels like an AC game, unlike Odyssey.

Pls, that foot animations, that sliding, that crossing foot animations during turning the Bayek. PLS, fix all of them in Valhalla. AC series was the best navigational animation systems. Why just broke them? Almost all companies solved that problems, and suddenly AC Origins bring it back. The walking animations is soo amazing in this game.

The senu gameplay mechanic is actually taken from far cry primal, in primal you get an owl that does the same things as senu

Hey LazerzZ. I loved the rating you gave AC: Origins. I feel much the same way. But theirs one question that's been burning in my mind that I've been wanting to ask. It's great that Ubisoft listened to the fans when creating this game. But WILL THEY KEEP LISTENING. I would hate for Ubisoft to fall back into the same pattern it did after AC: Black Flag was released. AC: Rogue and AC: Unity had potential and they fell short. I keep wondering if that will happen in the next two games.

Really love the game but I've gotta say.. i desperatly miss the data base from previous games. Ancient egypt is SO interesting, so many locations, things, traditions, beliefs, etc. I want to know more about without having to scroll trough Wikipedia for it. Maybe the discovery tour will "come up" for this, but the typical system's just missing for me Some other cons/wishes for future titles: - maybe a bit more focus on "assassin like" stealth next time (logically these "tactics" would've evolved along with the brotherhood so the focus on fighting in this game is fitting, but future titles should show this develpment of "stealth tactics" imo - more realistic enemys, like not unrealisticly many of those 3m tall dudes etc. (tall strong soldiers would of course have existed but unlike the big ones from the Ezio games these are sometimes just too unrealistic, i. e. Arena brutes) - and maybe sometimes just a little more linear missions/gameplay. I generally like the new "open" stlye but sometimes linear gp would've provided more atmosphere, drive and emotion, especially in the main quests (i. e. while hunting down the Ancients you basicly mostly know the area where they are, go there, you're TOLD what bad things they do, but don't really EXPERIENCE their "badness" yourself, which would help with atmossphere and relateability) these along some things which James mostly mentioned too aside, I can only say: Very well done Ubisoft!

if they had copy-pasted the engine and thrown in social stealth before then applying AC 1 or Ezio Trilogy's city density of buildings, market squares can be open, but streets should be tight, that would've made Odyssey perfect in terms of gameplay....then just make a good story and you're great

The way stealth works has never been better in my eyes. You should be able to play the game how you want if that's either fighting or stealth its up too you. I play more stealth because it honestly is a lot more easier. It all depends on how you want to play but i hate when it forces stealth, choosing is the way to go.

I have noticed that for me, question marks appear only when i'm within 500 meters of the actual location, unless it's a major location like Krokodiloplis, etc.

I honestly just hate the new direction. I'm not claiming it wasn't a smart business move, i understand Syndicate was (to some people) "getting stale" (still one of my favorite AC's) and going in the RPG direction appeals to a wider audience. Not gonna sit here and say they shouldn't have done that I'm sure now they'll rake in money especially with Valhalla. Personally I'm not a fan. Couple of weeks ago there was a sale and i decided to finally get Origins. Enjoyed the beginning but things got old REAL quick. The mass quantity of hunting that had to be done wasn't fun after a while, the side quests were annoying because you HAD to do them just to level up. Black Flag is my favorite AC for many reasons, one of which was the way they made so many side quests you could do and i always got distracted. Not only were you able to upgrade and get materials but things like the plantations were peak Assassin missions. I'm willing to forego certain things like that for Origins simply because it was the Origin of the Brotherhood so it made sense, but that's why I'll never play Odyssey cuz it had 0 excuse. Also the settings suck imo. I get they're gonna have to do weird ones because they can't run out, but man Egypt was ANNOYING. So much damn sand, traveling for 10-15 minutes, small ugly ass villages. Always been more of a fan of the original Ezio type villages or at least the types of lush environments we got in Black Flag. Origins (and i think you touched on this) just felt like you didn't NEED to be an Assassin if you didn't want to, which sucked. Way too much combat, and it got worse with Odyssey. Overall, i don't play RPG's like Witcher and there's a reason i always loved AC. Now it's just become Witcher or Dark Souls with AC elements forced in. The last 2 hours of Origins i was literally begging for the game to be over. They dragged it on for so long, and we end the mission on fucking Aya? Huh? That's dumb. Girl or guy idgaf let me end with my character period. Literally kept saying out loud "fuck this game" and "I hate this game" so much. Tried Curse of Pharaohs after and it was fun for a while till again the XP system kept fucking me over with the huge leaps in levels. Deleted it and re-downloaded Syndicate, finished the boroughs missions and got that feel for being an Assassin again, and now I'm replaying AC2. One thing i will say is Origins made me realize just how amazing the previous games were and appreciate them more knowing we'll never get that again.

I love bayeks characters he has the charm and drive of ezio and theres humour as well but not Jacob Fry humour which can just fuck off it would have been nice to see more familiar faces in the game The only main gripe is the modern day id would have like to see more of the brotherhood The training the equipment and how they operate because we or i havent seen how the order now functions the assassins are lossing but we havent seen the struggle if you know what i mean or could you talking a lot of bollocks

On God Origins feels like a slightly different version of Oddysey, or I guess really, Odyssey is a slightly worse (depending on who you ask) version of Origins, there's less padding and more quality stuff, but they have a lot of the same weaknesses IMO.

The statement at 5:32 is great and all, like why wouldn't the devs want people to see their world, but it shouldnt directly affect the playthrough of the story. I dont want to do all of the sidequests, the main story has always been enough for me, so why am I forced to have to level up by doing side quests in order to have even a chance at completing the next main quest. The story of avenging bayeks son was often lost to me. I would forget what the last piece of the story was as I started the next main quest after completing hours of side quests which had no substantial relevence to the actual story. The whole game, with all of the content presented at hand, felt empty to me because of this. It was frustrating more than anything. Also, I used to do playthroughs of the older games without dying, you know, as a challenge. I will not attempt this on this game because I died in so many stupid ways on my first playthrough. The enemy lock on system is so clunky and dodging sometimes throws you directly into an umblockable attack.

Also, RPG is tedious and annoying. Why, if the first games were successful because of the story, and not based on whether a player is skilled enough to progress or not, why did they change the game into something it previously wasnt. There are enough games like this out there, but AC was unique. I really dont want the story and the game to be lost on me, but it is beginning to feel so.

The only problem i had was the levelling system. I always felt like i was being forced to play the side quests. All just to continue through the main story.

I think it was good as imo the main story was fairly short so it somewhat dragged out the game which is good, but I also agreed as I felt restricted with exploring the map. Wish there was more side quests though, as now that I've finished the game there's not a whole load left from what I see so far. Will be getting the upcoming dlcs though as storylines in this game are fantastic.

I prefer to play with the hud off at all times because the game is way too easy with the hud on. seeing through walls and knowing exactly where enemies are at all times is classic AC but it makes senu almost pointless. If you want a realistic and hardcore stealth experience turn the hud off completely and you will have to plan your every move like a real assassin. Creating a higher skill ceiling.
