yes Master Shay killed Arnos dad during there trip in Paris and in the mission you see little Arny and little Elise following Grandmaster De La Serre takes Arno in as his own showing the great Templars out there

I think that Shay could have done well by JUST killing Achilles. He could have challenged him to a duel for control of the assassin's if possible! Hell, Shay could have formed an alliance with Haytham and others like him to create a new order. One not seperated by different perspectives, but united by their common cause for making the world a safer place.
