People have literally been asking for a assassins creed with this setting. The problem hasn't been the games necessarily, but the story after they killed off Desmond, there just hasn't been the same type of attachments.

Agreed on the story after Desmond part. It’s definitely fallen off and story is the backbone of games. But Odyssey quickly became my favorite AC game with setting and gameplay. Couldn’t tell you fully the pull but I definitely like the open world Action RPG approach. It works well for this franchise. They could definitely do better with the present day story but even Valhalla’s in game story and NPCs and especially Odyssey were a joy to be around. Nothing will beat the Desmond story line. The original AC and the Ezio collection of stories will always be some top tier writing and gameplay. But the hate for the new games seems a bit bandwagony at this point. This setting will be dope. Hope the in game story and characters follow the same progression

What WOULDVE BEEN BETTER is after 3 or 4 we take a break from the animus and actually have a present day game Desmond with all the knowledge, and to use it in present with technology and automated weapons to watch out for but no, woke protagonist
