Hi everyone.
I haven't uploaded a video for a while but I'm back today with this special tribute to the new French assassin Arno Victor Dorian. As you can see this video is much longer than my previous ones in order to compensate the lack of activity on the channel these last weeks.
I really hope you will enjoy it, and don't forget to discuss about the video and the game itself in the comments bellow.
See you guys!

Hate Arno as much as you want, but we can all agree that Arno had it worst among all the Assassin Protagonists. He lost his father, his step father, his mentor, his friend, his lover, became a drunk and depressed man... Lost all his humor and gained cynicism... Even Altair, Connor, and Edward had happy/bittersweet endings... Arno just disappeared...

"The Creed of the Assassin's Brotherhood teaches us that nothing is forbidden to us. Once, I thought that meant we were free to do as we would. To pursue our ideals, no matter the cost. I understand now. Not a grant of permission. The Creed is a warning. Ideals too easily give way to dogma. Dogma becomes fanaticism. No higher power sits in judgement of us. No supreme being watches to punish us for our sins. In the end, only we ourselves can guard against our obsessions. Only we can decide whether the road we walk carries too high a toll. We believe ourselves redeemers, avengers, saviors. We make war on those who oppose us, and they in turn make war on us. We dream of leaving our stamp upon the world...even as we give our lives in a conflict that will be recorded in no history book. All that we do, all that we are, begins and ends with ourselves" third of my favorite speeches of ACs games.

Arnos is no where near as depressing as Connors. Lost his mother in a fire, grew up an orphan even tho his father was alive, had to kill his father when they did manage to get over the past. Had to kill his bf, was betrayed by his ally (Washington) and had to shoulder the responsibility of restoring the entire brotherhood from nothing then had to bury his mentor. Let's not forget when his people left him and were driven to extinction. Then there's the final nail in the coffin when he managed to have a family of his own and his wife and kids left him because of his occupation as an assassin (according to the abstergo handbook)
@greeshma2482
@greeshma2482 7 лет назад
I don't understand why is Arno being flaked so much. Every Assassin is unique, every assassin was tasked with something or made his own choice for the greater good. just because Arno didn't build an entire brotherhood or did something extraordinary, doesn't make him any less of an assassin. Beginning from his childhood (his father) till the end (step father and Elise)he had to see them die before his eyes primarily through murder. The pain and despair is enough reason for him to be an assassin and do what is right. Yes there is a love story involved too, but the primary reason he became an assassin was to avenge Monsieur de la Serre and protect Elise eventually.
@benedictjoelvillarojo4024
@benedictjoelvillarojo4024 4 года назад
He was pretty interesting and charismatic in the beginning, until he dawned the hood, and his personality washed away leaving only a desperate whiny simp. that being said, I do like his character development.
@VenhedisKaffas
@VenhedisKaffas 3 года назад
I think Arno's journey was more personal than most other Assassins. He didn't change the world too obviously. He had to get rid of his personal demons first. He's still an extraordinary assassin, after everything he went through. He had nothing left by the end of the story but he still kept on going. What made it hard to see his personal development is that whoever wrote the story decided to cut it off when he was just starting to get better. It ended at a downwards spiral, with the death of Elise. He loses the love of his life, finally sees what revenge can do to a person but we don't actually see his recovery from that and his journey to his actual redemption. We know he rejoined the Brotherhood but we don't see it. Arno isn't the issue: It's whoever decided to end the story at that point. They should have shown how he got back to the Brotherhood. Arno seemed to be getting better in Dead Kings but it was too vague at the end. Unused potential.

I don't know why people hate on Arno's story. Yeah he has nothing to do with the pieces of Eden but he encountered one in the Dead Kings DLC. So he had something to do with it. He's some what like Ezio. Born immature but grew a warrior.
@batmaniac4life285
@batmaniac4life285 9 лет назад
In my opinion this tribute highlights what should have been the core of the story and instead seemed as tho Arno was a great character, but the actions he takes and such within the story seem to just be kind of stretched. Like after he was exiled he reserved no resistance by the order when he persuid members of the templar order. And his relationship with the traitor friend (name plz) should have been more fleshed out and drawn upon so when he did do his thing it could have been more impactful and it should have taken a span of a few missions maybe even a lengthy side mission.

Unity doesn't get the credit it deserves. Perhaps I like it as much as I do because it was the first AC game I played, and that wasn't until it was already patched. Arno can be a whiny little bitchboy though, and Unity isn't even close to being the best in the series, but I do like it.

TopNotchStoner AC Unity isn't a game, it is a movie, what a beautiful art work they've done in this game, sadly, when the story becomes interesting the game ends, and lot of bugs come with it hahaha. I love so much the Ezio trilogy and AC 3, AC Black Flag have the most beautiful map of all games, AC Syndicate, what a shit game
@TopNotchStoner
@TopNotchStoner 8 лет назад
I definitely agree that Unity's story doesn't really get good until the end, but it's easily the most realistic combat in the series, which I like. Ezio Trilogy is great and I can't wait for it to come to PS4. Also, I agree with you about AC3 and it is way too underrated. It may even be my favorite in the series. honestly.

Zack Fair My main gripe with Unity is that they omitted the white-room confessions when you assassinate a target. It's just stupid that they decided to have Arno see those annoying flashbacks/memories to get information.
@vynonyoutube1418
@vynonyoutube1418 7 лет назад
I have Unity myself (patched). Definetly not as bad as people say, i'm actually having quite a bit of fun with it. The side missions are rather interesting to play (especially the Murder Mysteries and the Co-Op/Heist missions, the first actually have you USE YOUR MIND to find the murderer, and sometimes, there's more than one suspect, but only one is the murderer, and the latter, while not as expanded as the Multiplayer in AC3/Black Flag, are still fun to play with people), the Opportunities system for the assassinations is a nice nod to AC1 (the game that makes you feel the most like an "assassin", despite it's repetitive gameplay structure), Germain was a pretty good antagonist, some characters were pretty well done (Napoleon for example), the customization is really well done (stealth or combat, and for combat you have speed, range, or damage, not to mention you have a ton of color choices, more than the dyes in the Ezio trilogy, including a standard Assassin color scheme if you don't like Arno's colors), the combat is actually challenging this time (you can parry and counter, but the counter is no longer an insta-kill, and you got leveled enemies and equipment as well), the graphics are top-notch), and Arno is a character with quite a lot of potential, even if Ubisoft didn't use it all.
@JohnThomas5246
@JohnThomas5246 9 лет назад
Incredible video. I too found Arno to be my second favourite assassin, this is actually my second favourite AC game. The only thing i disagreed with was the ending with Elise, i wanted her to wait for him and so that she could live. Ubisoft always kills the romantic lead or finds a way to end it. I just would of loved to have played as Elise in a DLC.

That drama added so much to the potential of this sequel. The game Arno & Elise were playing, like both seeking for their love, and still running away from each other... That was just so catchy and adorable. Arno is unique for his personal story in my sense, perhaps he has nothing to do with the precedent games but he's just awesome.

Seeing as this video is 7 years old, this will probably get lost under the other hundreds of comments here, but man, to think this game released almost 10 years ago is insane. I think the word ‘underrated’ is overused for everything, but for this game it seems kind of deserving. Assassin’s Creed Unity was a mess at launch, but over the years I came to appreciate it vastly more than before. It is by no means a perfect game, but it was the type of story that deserved a sequel. Dead Kings DLC suggested Arno’s next destination was Egypt, and it really seemed like the devs wanted to push his story further. But instead of doing so, they’ve created this routine of introducing a new protagonist every game. Every game in the franchise you can either love or hate, but there’s always one aspect you can look at and appreciate. AC2 introduced Ezio and dedicated not one but three games building his character arc. AC3 introduced Connor, and focused on the events of the war. Ubi released additional games following the characters of Shay and Aveline. AC4 introduced Edward and Adawale even got his own DLC. Even if I didn’t like one game, I could convince myself to try it out because I wanted to see where the story picked up. Every character felt like they were coming together in one way or another, but between Unity and Origins, it’s like their writing direction changed. No more expansions, but plenty of references to all our favorite characters as if to say “hey, we didn’t forget about them! We’re going to reference them everywhere, but we’re not going to let you play as them or see the impacts their actions had over the course of history! Connor and Arno teaming up against Shay? Hah! Think again my sweet summer children!” We’ve explored all these different time periods, but does anyone remember when people made all these fake fan trailers for an AC game set in the future? People thought we were going to get a modern-day AC. But now I don’t even give a shit about the modern day! The direction of the story feels so convoluted, that I don’t feel like catching up or reading the lore anymore. My boy Desmond has been gone for so long, and not even his return could restore my faith in this franchise.

AC II was just magical ubisoft is never gonna make a game like that, but I agreed the story is not only very coolin Unity, there aren't almost no boring missions, they are all great and give you a lot of freedom to how you wanna do them, that´s why I loved the game

This is an amazing trailer, and really expresses the essence of the story of Unity. In my opinion, this is one of the best storylines of the franchise, not the best game sadly because it faulted in the glitches and depth the rest of the game took, the side missions could be more varied such as The Witcher 3. The dillema Arno faces and the conclusion he reaches in the finale are really meaningfull and ask questions no other AC game has asked before.

I recently replayed this game, and I just want to say, even tho it had a slopy release, right now, after the patches, this game is an underrated gem. Gameplay wise, it's definatly above AC 1, 2 (didn't age that well), and 3. And storywise, while lacking worldbuilding (Specificly info about Those Who Came Before), it's an amazing redemption story.

Personally I loved this game, yes it had its flaws and probably more so than AC normally does, but I feel it was a step in the right direction. It tried to get back to the struggle between the templars and assassins and showed both sides to have their demons. Arno was interesting because he never truly followed the brotherhood but instead used it to his own end which created a very different kind of character and even the combat whilst awkward at times, I felt made it more of a challenge something I felt was lacking since AC III when thanks to weapons like the tomahawk you could take enemies down in no time. Had they spent more time on it and had the ending tied things together a bit better I feel this would of been my perfect AC game!

Arno is one of the most tragic Assassin’s Creed protagonists. He lost his father, and his girlfriend, and had to kill his own mentor. He lost everyone he cared about. Still, as the Dead Kings DLC demonstrates, he remained a true assassin to the end.

Yet the charisma and euphemism of one wild lad who saw other men in his immediate family hanged thus changing him almost completely, his story is still the most iconic in all of AC-Verse. That brash youngan rose to become the second God father of Assassin's after Altair. The one Ezio Auditorre De Ferenze. Arno has a place in history and UBISOFT could do more justice with him but Ezio is a legend. We still cherish and play and cry with Ezio in assassin creed 2 all the way to revelation. It's not about the graphics but the story and the art of story telling that UBISOFT is somehow losing it slowly....

i actually enjoyed unity. i play on pc which has a terrible pc port but i still loved the game sm. the fact that he lost everything and then as he felt like he was geting it together again he lost it all mad i soo much better. he didnt have a happy ending like the other. ezio got married, connor had children, edward got a full mansion ect but arno just got depression. people complain that he has 0 personality and is a cardboard box but thats exactly how he would be. he literally has depression most of the game and that is obviously going to affect his personality. i just hope ubisoft make connor and arno meet up soon.

Unity was something absolutely supperior when it comes to story. To this day I just love Arno's monologue about the creed. It's so sad, so desperate and chilling, but on the other hand its so full of hope and vision for brighter future tbh. Unity is the beast installment in the series and for sure one of the best stories I ever could experience.

"Ideals too easily give way to dogma. Dogma becomes fanaticism. In the end, only we ourselves can guard against our obsessions." You can tell this game was made before the world went mad with wokeness, due to the fact that it has actual wisdom to share, unlike other games where the main character ends an NPCs bio mom and sleeps with his bio dad, because "progressiveness" or whatever. Either way, some real world people could have used this lesson about ideals, dogma and fanaticism.

This game is an underated AC gem (at the moment. The release was sloppy). But I wouldn't want a sequel, even tho I love Arno. His story was a story about redemption and not one of growth like Ezio's. The ending is imo perfect (including the novel) and I wouldn't want to ruin it by adding unnesesery extra's. Same goes for Ratonhnaké:ton.

Okay fatal flaws or the game (just played for the first time this past week): You don’t end up exploring most of Paris-all said and done I feel like the intricacies for each neighborhood aren’t really explored, for example maybe you get to know significant people from each area that you could do a mission with Why isn’t king Louis/Versailles/royalty featured more? I mean like this is the actual revolution and you barely interact with revolutionary figures-why not make Robespierre the actual bad guy the way they made Cesare or the Pope? Or King Louis, whatever it is, why only casually involve them? British accents kill immersion, every says it but it’s true. Also why no horses/French country side? I know it was new game so maybe this gets a pass Was Napoleon supposed to be like da Vinci in 2? Because if so,make more one on one interactions with them. Elise being a Templar was a great choice, but one that made little to no significance outside of bellec, why not actually make there be some tension a la Romeo and Juliet, especially since in the end Arno did trade his assassins brotherhood for her. The villains didn’t feel particularly heinous, it seems as though the game kinda just felt like one task to the next Make more environment sensitive assassinations Overall the game is beautiful and was fun to play, it felt like I was back in the summer in Paris, but overall I thought there was more that could have been done in order to make the game better
@batdog12100
@batdog12100 4 года назад
I have to disagree. While 'reviewing' or 'ciritisising' (seems like everyone is a critic now adays) this game keep in mind, this is a sceduled game (not a primary tool of life, but a piece of art made for enjoyemend after a bussy day), not a novel. I recently replayed all the games, but I solely focused on the main campain, so what ever I say about the side activities is from memory. -I agree that paris didn't feel extremely alive like previous titles (revelations for example) but look at the scale of the buildings. And this game was more centered around multiplayer, which explains the lack of interesting solo side questst (again, judging from memory) -Realy, this is what you're complaining about...? Have you even played the other games? xD. The Animus or Helix have translation software, which translates the languege for the users, with 'occasionaly' misses. While Ezio did have an Italian accent from time to time, so did Arno (with French). The accent might not have been perfect (don't know, I'm not good in French) Judging from the Turkish accents in Revelations, (my favorite game from the series) I speculate that almost none of the accents in the games were. -Making the king a bad guy like Cesare or the pope, would just be re-using an already used formula. The plot of this game wouldn't work if it wasn't centered around Germain. Think about it. The whole Unity concept is about him and Elise working together. If the king was a tempelar, he most likely would have been the Tempelar grand master, which would nulify the whole Unity plot. (I could explain it more if you would like ;) -Napoleon is a controverial character, so I get the short screentime. -Well... Elise being a Templar was what made Unity, 'Unity'. This game was centered around the romance/team up, between Arno and Elise, that's why the game is called Unity. An assassin and a templar working together. And it did also have great significance in the world of AC. Because it shows that during the infinite war (? forgot the real name) the Assassin's and Tempelar did try to work together. -Again pay more attention to the games, Tempelars in general where never bad guys. While you did have some corrupt ones, like Cesare (remember the scene where the other grandmasters refused to help him out during one of the final sequences). The assassin's and Templars both seek peace and they both are not afraid to kill in order the accomplish that. While the Templars are more radical in there ways, they (mostely) all act because they feel it's for the greater good. This is an example, but not there exact philosophies; Templars seek to put all flags toghether under one, while the Assassins try to get rid of the whole concept of a flag. While I won't deny that the game had a sloppy release and I won't deny that the gameplay could use some fine tuning. The end result is, imo, an underrated AC game. And in the end, like I set in the beginning. This is a game so try not to take it too serious and appreciate the work the developers put into it (I know... games cost money, but you get my point). While some developers rush there projecets because of time schedules the publishers put them on. It's still a piece of art and a fun way to enjoy our other wise, boring spare time.

"The Creed of the Assassin Brotherhood teaches us that nothing is forbidden to us. We believe ourselves redeemers, avengers, saviours. We make war on those who oppose us, and they in turn make war on us. We dream of leaving our stamp upon the world... even as we give our lives in a conflict that will be recorded in no history book. All that we do, all that we are, begins and ends with ourselves."

Lolol how can you even say it's not philosophical? It's an amazing speech. It shows his growth as a character. Everything he learnt about the brotherhood and about himself. Everything is says may not be about fighting and may not be so inspiring, but it is realistic. He talks of how ideals give way to dogma and fanaticism. How an assassin may never get the appreciation for his effort, but he will still fight. That no one will control what you do, so it is up to you to do the right thing.
