Assassin's Creed Valhalla vs Assassin's Creed Odyssey | WHICH GAME IS BETTER?

Odyssey is a Map masterpiece. I am from Sparta i live in Athens and i show so many accured things. The bigger shock to me playing this game, comes with the moment that I realized that Ubisof create not only Sparta on the map, but my home village, South East from Sparta the Geronthe village (this is the ancient name). The people at this village working at the olive trees. Like they do still today. 2500 years later. So deep accuracy in this game and i really enjoy it.

I'm currently playing Odyssey and enjoying it a lot, I can see all of its faults, but I'm such a nerd for ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian and old civilizations mythology an history that my inner child is just having the best time of its life haha

I loved all the underwater, and naval combat in odyssey. Swimming with the whales is one of the coolest feelings ever in a game. And I loved the island environment and Ancient Greek setting SO much.

I honestly loved Odyssey. Ubisoft should've simply titled it Odyssey or "Isu Warriors" if they wanted any Assassin's Creed connection. It would've been more proper for the franchise. They could've easily gone into the RPG franchise with flaming swords and all. But I honestly loved exploring the landscape, seeing the people and historical figures, cuz I'm a big classical Greek fan. The soundscore was amazing. There were a lot of great things about that game, to be honest. People just don't like it due to false advertising.

The Odyssey main menu theme is kinda a banger

I wish AC Origins gets a sequel. Bayek is a great AC character. Ubisoft should focus on completing character arc just like they did for AC Ezio's trilogy. AC is just following COD's business model nowadays.

IMO Valhalla was a step in the right direction in terms of everything, except environment. Odyssey had big, bustling town centers that felt alive and full of activity. It made me feel like I was one person in a world of thousands. As for Valhalla, England was boring and empty, Norway was beyond boring and empty. It made me feel like I was one person in a warzone.

I love Odyssey, was such a fun game. Best out of the assassin creed RPG style so far for me

I've played AC since the first game, you're right about how oddysey doesn't necessarily feel like "assassin's Creed" but just in terms of how much I enjoyed the game oddysey is so much more fun than origins and Valhalla combined, the story is great and emotional, and the combat in oddysey was much vetter, and just overall had so much more fun playing it

I just enjoyed playing Odyssey as a game. I knew it wasn't AC going in, and that really sucked, but I was able to enjoy it more having accepted that. I actually like the combat system, both grounded and naval (was pretty surprised to find out most people didn't), and thought the side content was pretty well done (of course there's an insane amount of filler side quests, but the questlines focusing on characters you meet in the main story, and also the quests that delved into Greek mythology were great). I also liked the setting and world layout. However, the stealth is horrible, and the story becomes uninspired and boring very quickly. The level gating can be pretty terrible sometimes. Also sad to see the lack of decent parkour continue as a trend through the newer games. I like defending Odyssey, because I enjoyed playing it, but I also won't act as though it's anything more than average overall.

I had always avoided the AC series because of commentary from my friends that they were boring and repetitive. AC Odyssey was my first AC game and I loved it. It got me really interested in the AC franchise to the point that I have play AC 1, AC Ezio Trilogy, and I just started AC Valhalla. This is a franchise I am actually excited about now instead of dismissive. All thanks to AC Odyssey. I wonder how many other people had the same experience.

WHO ELSE LOVE ASSADDIN'S CREED ODYSSEY? ✋

Playstyle builds experimentations... that's what I like the most about Odyssey. It is a great hack&slash game.

I have played both to an extreme degree (>200 hr. ea.) and I liked Odyssey just a bit more. There are several things each has over the other (Valhalla is more pleasing to the eye and has more story-focused side quests and Odyssey allows more customization and options to combat). I think the biggest difference is Odyssey is a more complex game where you have to analyze different engravings and gear pieces to make a powerful character. Valhalla is very simple on the other hand and most builds are comparative to each other. Odyssey has much more adventures for your character but sometimes the quality is hidden by historical references not well known. Valhalla offers a lower number of things to do but give variety such as fishing and orlog. Their quests are also more welcoming for a wider audience.

Both of them are fun to start off with. Until you realise, you're just doing the same thing, over and over and over again 😍

I understand all you said,but I think odyssey has 1 advantage(for me probably one the most important things in a game)and it's that you have so many choices and how you can have so many different endings...

I have both and I love Odyssey way more than Valhalla, being a 90’s kid growing up watching Hercules and other Greek shows I felt in love with Odyssey. Though I really did give Valhalla a chance and I really wanna like it, but to me it’s lands and missing towns and remembering how beautiful and less stress of a feeling odysseys felt. In my opinion Valhalla is a empty sandbox, I also dislike how Valhalla made their arrows for bow system, like having to switch bows just to use different elements. Smh and I hate all of that freaking snow all over some places. Yes the combat has cooler animations but they’re not ran smooth. They should update odyssey or make a mod for Odyssey that allows players to cut heads off and more.

The one thing that I hated about odyssey was that enemies was damage sponges especially on higher difficulties

Odyssey was my first AC game, I played it in my first year of middle school and loved it. Dumped hundreds of hours into it. Now in high school, I just finish the Ezio trilogy after and AC 3 and I see many of the faults in the rpg games. I do still love odyssey and Valhalla and it's nice to hear someone with almost polar opposite opinions on the game, I understand and respect your takes, well done.

I just love all the aspects of the AC franchise, and yes ... i want more story and backstory about the ISU and the lineage like Kassandra or Eivor.

I feel like if AC odyssey didn't have Assassin creed on the title, and the developers just said, its a story connected to the events of the AC games, it would have been decent

One thing I kinda like about Valhalla is its approach to the open world. I got bored with Odyssey real quick because of the thousands of question marks on the world map. Because I'm a stupidily obsessed completionist, I tried to do most of them before giving up the game completely for 2 years. I like how some doors are barred or you must destroy a barrier using jars in Valhalla. Adds a bit of challenge. Harder than using your eagle and rushing into a fort to grab your millionth treasure chest

One of my favorite parts of playing ac games is just setting. I absolutely love being able to walk around in these settings I've only heard about in history class, and that's probably the biggest reason I still lile odyssey haha. Just the whole athens and sparta dynamic plus the references to the peloponnesian war really keep me invested in the game, even when I have to remember this is 1000% a historical fiction with all the demigod shit lol.

It’s a Good AC game big Ancient Greece nerd and absolutely love the setting during peloponnesian war (btw I love RPGs) i love the utilization of level scaling in this game. The exploration is easily one of the best. The story telling is told in a linear scale, but they do it so well it’s barely noticeable. Easily one of the best RP games I’ve played lately. And the post game content kept me playing the game for a long time. Loved the lighter tone especially after playing Origins.Easily one of the best games I played last year. It truly just lacks the AC-esque otherwise it’s an amazing game. Easily a better game than Valhalla

I loved playing a Spartan Warrior in AC Odyssey but it was the first AC game I played that I wanted to devote my time into so I didnt really know how the old games were. I really do like Valhalla though.

the thing I liked the most about odyssey was that the load out you made affected how you play. Get gear for assassin damage and crit damage and I always killed enemies with stealth and in combat they died a lot faster as well. However I %100 agree that I'm still not the biggest fan of how they changed the series since origins and I still love the older ones especially the Ezio trilogy and loved that combat

What I like about Valhalla’s combat is the flexibility, I love matching weapons and going again many different enemy types, I think Valhalla’s combat is actually good though it suffers from some clunk, but Valhalla actually requires some challenge and learn enemy patterns. Stealth in Valhalla also is better, besides one shot kills, some skills feel dedicated to stealth, like chain Assassinations, slow mo arrows and multiple shooting arrows + raven distractions, sleep darts. It widely expanded upon any RPG game (OR , OD) + I love the that the level design here rewards you if you use parkour in big bases, there are ropes and traps hidden when you go on the high-ground. Besides gameplay the bloat is gone, the unlimited amount of weapons that are the same with different stats are gone, everything feels more meaningful and Valhalla is in my top 5, I just love it, while I wish the narrative had 50% hidden ones and 50% of eivor’s personal narrative instead of 70/30% - it still widely felt like an good assassins creed game though I hope the next is a stealth-orientated game

Actually getting burn out on AC Odyssey at first. but once i get to know the engraving system, i become addicted to it. Its hard to come back to Valhalla due to this. Valhalla limit no of drops also limit our experiment on the system and can only be done via progressing the game

It's fine if you enjoy Odyssey more as an RPG, but as an AC game, Valhalla is miles better.

I really liked Odyssey and just started playing Valhalla. I’ve played basically all the games since AC came out but took a long. Break in the middle. Odyssey was east to play but I think you hit the nail on the head with combat. Once you reach a certain point you just don’t die and it’s spam city. I’m getting used to Valhalla and don’t like it right now because of the differences like not auto regen Healy and the map having colors rather than the standard “?” With tasks but I’m getting used to it and have a feeling I’m gonna really like it

Ubisoft should have released odyssey has a warrior's creed .

In Odyssey, most people I killed with power makes me feel like a demigod. In Valhalla most people I killed with dismember make me feel like a Viking bandit.

One of the main points of everyone who hates odyssey is the combat system. I actually like it. Sure, it's not the best combat system in the franchise, sometimes it takes way too much time to kill, but it's not boring, the special skills really creates and interesting dynamic to it

I'm playing Valhalla and although I love it it's a step back from Odyssey, some fans don't like that Odyssey isn't really an assassin game and that's true Odyssey should have been its own IP I'd have loved for a series of Odyssey games, Valhalla, as much as I love it just doesn't give me the same epic feeling barring the music. Conflicted but Odyssey wins out for me.

I do agree that Valhalla has a better armour loot system than odyssey, in Valhalla armour is carefully placed and there aren’t many options for armour (even if you have all the armour in the game) so they make you really work for the good stuff. In odyssey I’ll go out for a quick stroll and gain 76 helmets, 952 bracers, 420 greaves and 69 torsos. In odyssey it feels as if they just throw armour at you to keep you satisfied.

Ok fine you made some interesting points. Of the new formula games I found Odyssey great and Valhalla very painful to get into. I've tried playing Valhalla 3 times and quit shortly after getting to England out of sheer boredom. But you've convinced me to retry. Maybe fourth time's a charm.

I agree with Valhalla being better. I didn't mind Odyssey, but hated the grinding just to be able to progress in the main story. I still don't think Valhalla is a true AC game like the originals, but it's good on its own merit. Great video once again!

I just spent 110 hours on Valhalla , then went back to Odessy and I'm shocked how much better Odessy is .

I pretty much agree with almost every point, apart from the Isu not being connected to the assassin's creed's story interest. As a long time fan (since very first) I always wanted to see more lore and story surrounding the race and origins of what made the whole assassins vs templar came to be, and that is the artifacts and remnants of the Isu, that said, Odyssey didnt click it for me on that regard either, it just "teased" tons of themes without any real answers or story, hell I'd be interested in the chance to play as Adam or Eve the ones who sparked the beginning of mankind when they rebelled against the Isu.

I personally love the combat in AC Valhalla. Its the best in the series in my opinion, but I could see why you would prefer the older combat

Ok, Valhalla is more worthy of the title assassins creed, but I think that Odyssey was more fun and had better characters, weapons, and side quests.

I enjoyed the OG AC games and I also enjoyed Odyssey. However, I played them very far apart from each other and have always recommended Odyssey to friends with a disclaimer: if you go in expecting assassin's creed, you'll be disappointed. If you go in treating as its own thing it's a blast. But I did prefer most of the gameplay in Valhalla even with the bugs and a kind of annoying ending for the modern day story.

I'll be honest. I like Odyssey because its not Assassins Creed. I just like the setting. I completely overlooked the game for years because I was like "pfft I'm not gonna play another boring ass game where you sneak around and occasionally get forced out of the action and into the body of a balding itallian man." But my friend was like nah this one is as far from an AC game as it gets so I gave it a shot

I love AC Odyssey, but that's because I didn't know any of the other games in the series. I've been looking at videos of AC Origins and AC Valhalla, and I think that for me it can only get better.. I'm excited to purchase these other two, because I think in comparison to this overstuffed game, those two will have a bit more depth.

I love AC Odyssey and i have 80+ hours. I agree most of points he made (especially stealth and story part) but i still enjoy the game. Why i liked this video is how straight forward and honest he is. I actually really enjoyed Odyssey and played the crap out of it when it first came out. So if this is how people felt about it, Valhalla has to be a lot better. I’m currently playing through Origins and the DLC for the first time and I am having a blast. And feel more connected to the assassins story there.

actually i have the same sentiments, when i play ac odyssey for the first time it took me like 10-15 mins then quit. After a year i played it again just for my money's worth, because its a digital version i could not sell it, but after i finish the game twice i fully learned and understood the game mechanics, items combination etc. i enjoy playing it. at first the gear is too many, so much options but after learning the gear/item mechanics i find the equipment is not enough i wish they make more items, but I'm still looking for the perfect gear combination. u don't need LEGENDARY set, epic set is better than legendary. i have epic set with 100% melee resistance+ high hunter damage. before i was constantly switching gears but now there is no need. i have collected items - 2 spartan javelin with 10%dmg hunter gear that have melee resistance so u can add crit chance/full health. =hybrid epic hunter/warrior build high crit chance and 100% melee resistance. this build can also 1 hit (assassinate) mercs and bosses bec of high crit chance + crit damage. when people points out the legendary set in ac odyssey u'll know immediately that they didn't play long enough to learn that legendary set is just for show, epic set is the key to this game.

AC Odyssey was first an adventure game in assassin’s creed series made by Ubisoft Sofia so it wasn’t designed as an assassin game first. That explain why Odyssey seems different but as it is now it’s still a great beautiful and amazing game in Antiquity Greek era. Many players can enjoy it a lot as the game still close to assassin’s creed series. And it could give some players a hint to play or give a shot to others assassin’s creed games as AC Valhalla.

I think that the odyssey stealth combat works, but you have to focus your build on it. I Was able to raid strongholds without any detection and no long bring fights

I’ve played both and definitely prefer odyssey (played odyssey after Val). I don’t think the game is suppose to be “assassin based”. It goes into what the isu are and blood lines and explains a lot of things that isn’t explained in other games. Definitely not a super stealthy game but a great rpg nonetheless. For me Val is a 6/10 odyssey is a 9/10

I haven't played all of the games, my knowledge of them are up to 3. And it's not much to begin with. Currently revisiting AC1 and AC2, I love both Altaïr and Ezio, not to mention the modern narrative with Desmond. In the first game, you begin to see the start of the bleeding effect and how it impacts Desmond and in 2, you start to see how much Desmond is effected by the animus even more. The modern story and ancestral stories work together to make something unique. I've gotten invested in the series to the point where I bought the novels up until odyssey, and I want to read them, see if they add more to the storyline. In terms of Odyssey or Valhalla being bad...I've heard arguments over both being mediocre or just bad. Maybe I just need to play them to fully understand why but, we'll see

Haha you’ve got a solid point. These are all origin stories essentially for the assassin’s and Templar’s, so to me it makes sense that the 3 new games didn’t revolve around the original storylines as much. I would like them to get back to more of the bread and butter of the series, but even as an ac fan I will say origins, odyssey, and Valhalla were ambitious breaths of fresh air that I appreciated. If they kept the same/similar formula the series would’ve died and if they changed things in a big way people are gonna complain, they were sort of in a lose-lose scenario. Not to say the games/Ubisoft don’t deserve criticism but I can respect the effort and ambition they’ve been giving/going for.

I love both but Odyssey starts off so much stronger and then gets lack luster by the middle but the ending fight against Deimos is pretty cool. The cult story ending had so much potential but then a very flat confrontation with the leader. Valhalla has many improvements from Odyssey but its story feels so disjointed and all over the place that made it feel really repetitive compared to every game beforehand. Both are still good but if Valhalla didn't have the minor assassin story segments then it would basically be Odyssey 2.0.

At the very least, Odyssey didn't feel endless and mind numbingly repetitive, like I was actually able to finish it and had little problem putting 60+ hours into it once I got over the AC title, yes it dragged on especially near the end but it was no where near as bad as Valhalla. For reference, I dropped Valhalla 30 hours in. I just couldn't anymore

Just finished Odyssey (after 190 hours) and I’m about to start Valhalla! I wouldn’t say I’m a big fan of odyssey, but I seriously disagree with you on stealth and combat. Spending skill points on the critical assassination allows you to one-shot most enemies, and in combat, being strategic about which abilities to use and when (and timing your attacks right) made me feel seriously OP, since I could take down just about any enemy in seconds (barring the mythical creatures, which took a few minutes). I was playing on normal difficulty tho

I've played AC since brotherhood. I enjoyed odyssey and thought the storyline wasn't to bad but it was good as a stand alone RPG, but not an AC game. Origins is probably my favourite to date. But I'm glad to see Valhalla is getting back in to AC law.
